Chapter 14. If only it hadn't come true

Settings
As usual, Obito left for work in the morning. Kakashi spent the whole day trying to figure out what to do with himself. Evening came. Uchiha was supposed to come a long time ago, but for some reason he was delayed, although he did not warn about anything like this. Eleven o'clock at night. Obito finally enters the house. Kakashi came out to meet him. - Hey, Obito-kun, why are you so late? - He forced a smile at Hatake. Uchiha held his side and did not raise his head. When he entered the apartment, he immediately leaned against the wall. - Obito? Obito! Kakashi ran up to Uchiha and held him back. - Hold on! Now, now I'll get the first-aid kit! Just wait. Don't you dare let me die here! Kakashi, having carefully planted Obito, ran to get a first-aid kit. Running back to Uchiha, he began to treat and bind the wound with bandages. - Kakashi, don't... Too late. Forgive me, Kakashi-kun... - Uchiha whispered, stroking Hatake's cheek. Obito is weakened. Kakashi held him back again. - Obito! OBITO, DON'T YOU DARE! I... I didn't mean to... It's all because of me! Tears rolled down her cheeks. - Obito, please don't die! - He whispered, hugging Uchiha, who was limp in his arms. It die. His heart was no longer beating. "It's your fault, Kakashi! It's your fault!" - OBITOOOOO!!!

Kakashi woke up. He was breathing rapidly and convulsively. There were tears in his eyes and a lump in his throat. It was night outside. Obito was still not at home. Kakashi jumped out of bed so abruptly that his vision went dark. He rushed towards the door, but tripped over a blanket and fell with a characteristic crash, but despite the pain, he quickly got up and ran to the front door. Not finding Uchiha, he grabbed a gun and ran outside without even putting on a jacket. I dialed Obito's number, hoping to get through. "If only I could take it. If only he was alive." Long beeps were not successful. He didn't answer. Kakashi bit his lip. "Damn it." He quickly ran towards his former job. Kakashi ran in and opened the door. - WHERE. OBITO?!? - Hatake asked aggressively. - He was sent on a mission. He hasn't been here since this morning, - one of the employees spread his hands. - WHERE TO?!? - Hatake was angry and spoke through his teeth. - I don't know. Somewhere in the city. He had to find the culprit. And he, knowing that they are looking for him, is unlikely to stand still. "Why would I do that?" Kakashi shot out of the police station and ran to look for a familiar car. "There is no time to lose! He can... No, no, no! No way! I won't let you!" As Hatake ran, time slowly and inexorably passed midnight. And finally he sees a familiar car parked on the edge of town. "I found it!" After checking the car and not finding the object he needed, Kakashi looked around, and then noticed an iron door. Surprisingly, it was not locked. Something told Hatake: "He's here." Kakashi rushed over there. The stairs led down into the darkness. It was getting colder. A pungent smell hit my nose. But he was wearing a mask, and that's a plus. When the stairs finally ended and the corridor became wider, he saw Obito sitting on the floor and leaning against the wall. - Obito! - Kakashi shot up to him, holding him down. -Hold on, I'm going to get you out of here! Hatake took Uchiha's arm and headed for the exit. "I'm going to get you out now. Be patient for a while." Kakashi dragged Obito to the car. - How are you? - the man asked excitedly, putting him in the front seat. - Water? Uchiha frowned and opened his eyes slightly. His eyes were cloudy. - Kakashi... - he didn't have time to ask, as he immediately coughed. Hatake was seriously scared, but still handed him a bottle of water. Obito took the water and drank half a bottle. - Thanks. But... It's too early for us to relax. I found out that the criminal had mined several large points in the city. If we don't do anything about it, then everything will blow up by dawn... We have to fix this... There's one of those dots down there, and... he dropped it. Uchiha showed a piece of paper with text and a drawing on it. After studying the records, it was possible to determine approximately where the mines were laid. - Are you feeling better? Uchiha nodded. - Then go ahead. After protecting their airways, they went down again and defused the explosives. Kakashi was driving, as Obito still hadn't fully recovered from the gas exposure. While Kakashi was driving to the next point, Obito informed the police station about the criminal, for whom a squad was sent. Until the morning, they kept moving from one point to another, until finally they counted them... - Seventeen, - Uchiha breathed out in surprise. - That's about it. Now... Obito looked at the time. - It's time to go home. It's almost dawn, and we still have to report back. And then you can relax...

The police looked at them in surprise as they walked to the chief's office. Obito decided to take Kakashi with him, and Kakashi himself hardly moved away from Uchiha after everything that happened. - Seventeen minutes a night? - The boss raised an eyebrow. - Yes, - Uchiha handed him a note. - The criminal dropped it, so we were able to thwart his plans. We have defused the mines, but they also need to be removed. - We? The boss looked at Kakashi. - Did you help too? Hatake scratched his head. - Well... No, it's Upholstered. It should be raised. - Kakashi smiled slightly, shifted his confused gaze to Uchiha. "As long as you don't get upset..." - He helped too, - Uchiha said seriously. - If he hadn't pulled me out of that basement, I would have just suffocated there, and no one would have known about the impending explosion. This is his merit. Kakashi stared at the floor. - I just wanted to save you. It was just for you, silly... - That's how it is... Well In that case, you can be free. You need to rest. Uchiha nodded and left, pulling Hatake after him. - Why did you say that about me? I'm under house arrest... - Kakashi asked quietly. - Well, maybe they'll soften your punishment. For being a hero, - he smiled. Obito winked, putting a friendly hand on his shoulder. Hatake sighed softly. - Okay, you know best, - he tried to smile. - Let's go home. - Yeah, - Kakashi nodded, - are you better or am I going to drive? - I don't think it's worth taking any chances yet. But if you're tired, I'll drive. - It's okay, let's go.

Immediately after the shower, both fell asleep. They were so tired that they didn't care where to sleep, even on the floor or on the bed. Therefore, they fell asleep immediately, just touching the pillow. A couple of hours later, Obito pulled Kakashi back to him in a dream, nuzzling his shoulder. Hatake smiled and hugged his arms, making himself comfortable.
