Imagine that you were an old acquaintance of Edward. *** "Who is it?" Bella asked, looking at you. You were approaching the Cullens' house, as fast as if someone was chasing you. "Y/N," Edward said bitterly. "Your friend?" Bella asked, and Edward nodded, instantly tensing up when you were near them. "Hello, Edward," your voice was not loud. Cullen nodded back at you, but the voice was given by another vampire who happened to be on the threshold. "Good afternoon, Y/N," Carlisle smiled, coming out to you, "would you like to join our hunt?" "I'd love to, Carlisle," you smiled back. Alice nodded to you, saying hello, and you nodded back at her, smiling. Then you followed the Cullens, who went deeper into the forest. *** You stayed with them for a while and managed to get to know their whole family and the town. Forks turned out to be friendly and very rainy. Brr… You were just returning from a mini-tour of the city that you arranged for yourself when you saw Edward and Bella talking about something. Unable to resist, you decided to come closer. "Did you have a long story?" Bella asked. "I loved her once," Edward nodded. "And she loved you," you suddenly said, appearing behind their backs, "but you killed my family." Edward looked down while Bella stared at him in shock. "Then I just ran away from Carlisle, left, started feeding on human blood and met Y/N," Cullen spoke softly, addressing Bella and, it seems, trying to ignore you, "she lived in France and we surprisingly quickly became friends. She had a good family, they welcomed me as her friend," he smiled faintly sadly, it seems, looking somewhere through time. "And we fell in love," you curled your lips. It wasn't the worst and you didn't regret it, you regretted letting him get too close. "And we fell in love," Edward confirmed your words, barely nodding his head, "then Y/N didn't know who I was. We've been dating for a few months. But then..." he hesitated. "I snapped and killed them all. Her whole family," Cullen finally said, as calmly as he could manage. Bella looked at him in shock, and you were silent, giving Edward the right to confess everything himself. "When Carlisle found out, he immediately flew in and took me with him. He began to teach self—control even harder and finally got hooked on animal blood," Edward's lips twitched, he sighed heavily, more out of old human habit than out of necessity. "Your girl friend looks scared," you noticed, looking sideways at Bella. "I'm sorry," Edward suddenly muttered, addressing you," I'm so sorry to you…" You just nodded. Knowing that you will never be able to get what you want — revenge — you decided to be content with what you have and accept apologies, whatever they may be (but at that moment you had no doubt that Edward was very sincere in his apologies). "And who turned you and when?" Bella's question caught up with you, hitting you in the back, just when you were about to leave. You turned around. "I was turned six months after that," you smiled tightly, boring Edward with your eyes, "some acquaintance of Jasper," you jerked your head towards the house, "he was then killed by the Volturi because he attracted too much unnecessary attention." "Thank you, Y/N," Bella smiled and for the first time you did not see fear or tension in this smile. She was sincere. You nodded again, smiling back at her. Then, after thinking about it, she approached Edward at vampire speed and, stopping next to him, whispered so that only he could hear: "Take care of her. She seems like a nice girl." You refrained from slapping him on the shoulder, walked away from Edward for some distance, waved to Bella and ran off to hunt. It's always helped you get distracted, so why not now?
