Scarlet blood splashed in all directions
Chapter 1

A luxurious wasteland enveloped the royal monastery. However, no one knew what was going on in the queen’s soul. At night, the cold castle of Butterfly calmed down. Only dirty guards in the shiny kunzite walls kept order.
Bedtime, second hour. Perhaps, after painful years, the queen fell asleep for the first time?
No. As usual, a female silhouette appeared between the corridor. The Queen walked, her little heels clicking. Her favorite lilac dress, surrounded by amethysts, touched the floor. The queen's bearing had deteriorated, and now her favorite dress hung slopingly on the floor, and not on her thin dark ankles.
At the beginning of her reign, the queen was not interested in her people. Drunken barons tormented and tortured peasants. However, the Mewmans are not as patient as some people in some unfortunate country on an unknown pathetic planet. Mewman peasants took revenge on the entire nobility by burning estates and imprisoning families in villas.
Currently, the fate of Mewni was in the hands of the Comet. She didn't want to become a tyrannical killer. But the queen cared only about saving the meaning of her life. Sixteen years ago, the blue-eyed and submissive Princess Moon was born. Oh Gods, it’s scary to think what filthy monsters can do to her daughter...
Moon inherited her facial features from her ruthless father. Comet is annoyed because her daughter’s face constantly reminds her of Lazlo. The queen divorced the tyrant a long time ago. The amazing chef and perky Mewman raised his hand to his wife. No, not just wife... The queen! People like him in Mewni had their cervical vertebrae broken on the gallows. But Comet forgave the power-hungry freak. He wanted to be a king, but he became a vile creature. One of the main mistakes in the history of Mewni.
A saddened Comet walked past the guards. They again drew attention to her sickly appearance. The woman's gentle smile could not hide her suffering. Comet greeted them politely. In response, the guards bowed low and... They became thoughtful. Does the queen really want to go outside the castle alone? Dangerous!
-Your Majesty, are you going to the garden?
The thin smile gave way to a tired, tear-stained face. She slowly turned her gaze from the shiny floor to the unwashed guard.
- Nonsense.
The Queen left from under the gaze of the guards, turning into the wardrobe.
The candle was lit in a candlestick on bony fingers. Comet scanned the crowded shelves. Looking up, she saw the uniform of a simple Mewman soldier. This soldier once slaughtered a thousand monsters and died in battle.
Queen of Solaria. The most merciless ruler of Mewni over the past centuries. Without a doubt, her uniform served as nothing more than a cover and was one of the hundreds of army images of the Great Monster Slasher.
-Oh, there you go!
Comet placed the candlestick on the box and put on her turquoise uniform made from old cotton. “How to avoid getting noticed by the guards?” - she thought. Obviously she had to go through the back door.
The queen went alone outside the castle.
“Nonsense...” she whispered. - Nonsense! - repeated in her head. Stupid!!! – the queen wanted to scream, but covered her mouth with the back of her hand, because she was holding a scroll with a message in her fingers. The letter was written in the Low Mewman language, which only old monsters could know. One of them passed about three hundred. The disciple of the bloodthirsty lizard Seth, at first glance, looked young. However, the monster's decisions made it clear that he had a lot of worldly experience.
Unsuccessful efforts to make peace continued for ten years. There's only one chance left. She knew that this attempt would be her last.
Comet walked into the enemy camp on unbending knees. There’s an absurdity in my head, a tense mask on my face, and involuntary tears hiding in the corners of my eyes. She came closer and closer until she stepped on the decaying body of a Mewman knight. The only thing the queen could squeeze out was a barely audible, unrecognizable sound. Her face, covered with her palm, scrunched up in bitterness. The droplets turned into copious tears. Numb, Komet looked at the dismembered soldier. Subsequently, the legs moved on their own, even more slowly, and the nightmarish sight was forever stuck in her mind.
Red torches shone in the night. She was a few steps away from the camp. The monsters had been sleeping in their tents for a long time.
Unexpectedly, a half-naked monster emerged from the tent. The lizardman stopped at the entrance, resting his hands on the frame. With scarlet eyes glowing in the dark, he watched his surroundings. The reptilian pupils settled on Comet. He wasn't the least bit surprised by her appearance. But he thoughtfully examined the woman from head to toe. A low, hoarse voice said completely indifferently and even quietly:
-Welcome.
The Queen wanted to say something, but all she could do was curl her lips into an “o” shape.
Exhaling leisurely, the lizard pulled away from the tent. He sat down on a log near the torch, spreading his legs and clasping his hands.
-Come here.
The Queen took a silent breath and obeyed. No, it can not be...
She carefully walked over and sat down next to him on the dusty wooden surface. Comet noticed that up close his eyes were golden. They watched her every move without stopping. Yes, that's him. An older warrior, deceptively young.
-Did the general order you to come late at night?
The Queen looked down at the man's belt. She finally closed her lips and forced her eyes up to make eye contact.
-Will I hear an answer?
Silence clouded her.
-I.. Came.. For negotiations.
The lizardman smiled kindly, but strangely, again looking at Comets from head to toe.
-I need to report to the general.
What? Isn't that Toffee?
-A...
-Yes, queen. I'm his soldier.
The lizardman put a huge hand on her thin shoulder. He ran his palm with interest over his back, which was stiff with fear.
-You're tense. Relax.
But Comet could not relax. Hoping to forget herself, she unconsciously glanced at the muscular body. It's been a long time since the queen felt a man next to her...
Meanwhile, the soldier had already risen and entered a huge tent made from Mewman remains. Until now, due to the darkness, Comet had not noticed the bones. The blood froze in her veins again. The woman hopelessly lowered her head. No thoughts. No...
After a while, the lizard stuck out its long muzzle, surrounded by skulls. In a sensual, alluring tone, he called her:
-Come here.
Comet was shaken by trembling, but still headed towards the tent. She wanted to burst into tears, but she did not allow herself to show weakness in front of her enemies. Gods, what have the monsters turned her army into? The Queen was afraid to touch the remains of her soldiers. Therefore, the lizard held the curtain of skulls, perfectly understanding the queen’s feelings and mentally laughing at her disgust.
Comet didn’t notice how she found herself inside. She froze in place when she saw another lizard. Her heart was beating wildly, as if telling her that before her was her torment, her pain, her death.
General Toffee sat at a huge desk, drawing diagrams of the upcoming military campaign. Looking at the drawings, in a deep baritone voice, he pronounced the words as if there was no one else in the tent except the soldier:
-The next position is in the north, near the castle.
The Queen imagined how these hands easily picked the brains and eyes of her knights; skin is removed from the face to hang the skull as decoration and a sign of victory.
Toffee looked up at his guest, opening his fanged mouth. The emotions on the reptilian face allowed themselves to become impenetrable. They were empty and cold, like his amber eyes.
-I believe Rasticore has already greeted you, my queen.
Comet did not understand what was happening around her.
-Yes...
Toffee continued to look into her eyes, catching Butterfly's fear. He would like to remember it forever as something beautiful. The lizard had not felt anything for a long time. But the queen's fear was simply intoxicating. The fangs were bursting with the desire to pierce the dark Mewman flesh. Unfortunately, he could neither show it nor do it.
-Boss, I'll come out...
-Stay, Rasticore.
The general drew attention to the scroll in her small palm:
-Do you have my letter?
-Yes. I came... for negotiations.
-You are repeating yourself, Your Majesty. – noted Rasticore.
-Well... It's even funny. – Toffee picked up.
The general left the table. He walked towards the wall, holding his hands clasped behind his back.
-Let me guess, my queen, how the war will end on your terms.
Comet paused. She felt a lump in her throat, but still asked:
-How?
-We will go into the forests and swamps again. And you will continue to enjoy life in the castle. Baking pies instead of suppressing riots... Right?
The Queen pursed her lower lip. The monster was absolutely right.
-What are you offering me? – she finally asked boldly.
-Return what is rightfully ours.
-What?
The lizardman turned to Comet.
-Mewni, Your Majesty. Would you like me to remind you of the story...
-No..
-For example, about the great massacre of monsters...
-No..
-If you knew how little children, having lost their parents, survived in the forests.
-Enough! I know! – Comet screamed.
The lizard fell silent for a while.
-No, my queen. You don't know anything. I know this... And the one who stands behind you.
Comet looked towards Rasticore. The soldier stood straight with his arms crossed over his chest. She then turned to Toffee. The queen's disheartened face anticipated real horror.
-Why am I still here?
Toffee looked at her serenely. The general's voice sounded commanding:
-Rukshat! Need your help.
A huge rhinoceros monster entered the tent. The chiseled sickle seemed to be an extension of his hand. He stopped in front of the woman from behind. The Queen felt like her feet were being sewn to the floor with a needle and thread until Toffee came close to her. At that moment, her legs gave way and Komet fell to the floor.
She looked at her true killer. The indifferent reptilian muzzle revealed its grin in all its glory. His pupils became very thin, savage. These were the eyes of a predator ready to tear apart its prey.
Alone, without a retinue or a magic wand, she came to her own death. Stupid, stupid queen!
The rhinoceros grabbed the queen by the hair, but was immediately pushed away by Rasticore. Toffee pulled away in confusion at the Comets' screeching. Well done, soldier. The boss did not want her to die cruelly. Still, this Butterfly didn’t do anything to him. Personally.
Rasticore took the weapon from Rukshat:
-Don't be afraid, queen. In my hands you won't even understand...
It's right. Rasticore was the most skilled executioner in the army.
Comet felt a light cold touch on her neck. She turned to face Toffee. At the last moment he said:
-I forgive you.
Comet felt warm blood flowing through her veins inside. All that remains in my head is just one thought: “Daughter... Moon.”
