Ich liebe dich - (ger.) i love you (or just "love you")
Imagine that you were Kurt's girl friend.
***
Being a friend or girl friend of a mutant is not easy, even if you are a mutant yourself.
You were convinced of this every day. Your powers — levitation and invisibility — helped you a lot, but not much.
*
Your parents didn't know what to do with such an unusual daughter, but they loved you very much, so when they heard about Xavier's school for gifted children, they decided that it would be better for you there, and a little later they asked you if you would agree to go to such a school. You agreed with them, found out that they had already written there, because they did not doubt your answer (but you knew that if you refused, your parents would have written another letter saying that you did not agree), and they received a letter from the headmaster, Charles Xavier, who wrote that he would be very happy to have you at his school.
The next day you started packing.
***
The mansion impressed you. You looked at the high ceilings as if enchanted. The man who met you introduced himself as Charles Xavier, the director of this school and a professor. He gave you a little tour of the mansion and said that if you have any questions, you can approach him and ask. Either Jean Grey or Scott Summers can help you. You remembered everything and even wrote it down just in case you didn't forget, and after saying goodbye to the professor, you went to explore the mansion alone.
Since you were very curious, you really wanted to look into every room, but you realized that you could interfere with someone, so you just turned your head in search of a place where you could sit quietly.
When you saw the doors with the inscription "Library", you did not hesitate to push them, entering a spacious bright hall in which there were many shelves. The library consisted of several halls connected by passageways, and in the common room there were tables with chairs, sofas and armchairs so that you could sit quietly right there and read.
You went to the librarian's desk and, smiling, asked to get a card on yourself. As soon as the girl found out all the necessary information, you went into the hall and froze in indecision. There were so many books there that your eyes were running away.
Finally, having decided on the choice of a book, you went back to the reading room. Handing the book to the librarian, you waited until the girl wrote down the title of the book and the author in your reader's book, and then, thanking her, you went to one of the sofas and, sitting down, enthusiastically began to read.
But the book was small, so it took you half an hour to finish reading it and you slammed the book shut and stood up, flexing your muscles. You also looked around with interest. When you came, there were no mutants in the library except you and the librarian, and now a couple were walking around the hall, Gene and Scott were standing at the librarian's desk, and a blue guy was lying on the couch. And he had a tail. A tail?!
You raised your eyebrows. Yes, you understood with your mind that a tailed blue mutant is clearly not the strangest thing you can meet at this school, but he surprised you, so you just couldn't resist coming up and getting to know him.
"Hi," you greeted him softly, trying not to scare the guy.
He was holding a cup with some kind of drink in the tail (!) and you, it seems, did not notice yourself how you distracted him from drinking: he was about to bring it to his lips, but when he heard your voice, he looked at you, slightly pushing the cup away.
You froze, mesmerized by looking into his eyes: yellow, like the sun, somewhat resembling a cat's, only without a vertical pupil.
"Hi," he spoke with an accent that you didn't recognize.
"Sorry, I distracted you," you repented, nodding at the cup.
"Nothing se'rious," he smiled easily, setting it aside on a small table, and sat down, putting the book he was reading on the sofa. "Are you new? I'm Ku'rt," he held out his hand to you and you were surprised to notice that he had three fingers on each hand, and two on his feet. He noticed your look and wanted to take his hand away, already muttering an apology in a barely audible voice, but you shook his hand with a slight smile on your lips.
"Nice to meet you, Kurt, my name is Y/N."
He smiled back with relief. It seems that this was the beginning of a wonderful friendship.
***
You and Kurt became best friends pretty quickly. And soon everyone in the mansion knew about it (it's hard to hide something if you are in the same house all the time. But you didn't hide it, in truth, you were just friends). You knew that Kurt used to be forced to fight in the arena, to fight for his life to the death, and he knew that your parents might not have sent you here if you didn't agree.
Sometimes Kurt went on assignments on behalf of the professor, along with Jean, Scott and Storm. And you were always worried about those who went on missions, but in these cases especially ... because it's Kurt…
You always expected them with the professor. Xavier usually sat in the hall with Hank or Mystique, if, of course, she was in the house at that moment, and only nervously drummed his fingers on the arm of his wheelchair, looking straight ahead. He was expecting the sound that Kurt's teleportation was working with, or the sound of an airplane or car engine, depending on which transport the mutants left for the mission. Now it was a truck.
When you heard the engine sounds from the street, you jumped to your feet in excitement, and Professor Xavier immediately rolled the stroller in the direction of the door.
When you saw the guys, you immediately began to examine them for injuries, but finding nothing, you allowed yourself to exhale with some relief.
Scott and Jean immediately began to report something to the professor, Storm supplemented a little, and for some reason Kurt tried to step aside and shook his head at the professor's question about whether something had happened there that went beyond their assignment.
You frowned. It wasn't like a sociable, albeit a little shy Kurt. You immediately followed him, but stopped for a second, thinking that maybe he wants to be alone…
But when you noticed that Wagner was about to teleport, you called out to him:
"Kurt, wait!"
He froze abruptly and slowly turned around, pulling an unnatural smile on his face.
"Hello, Y/N."
"Will you tell me what happened there?" you asked quietly, carefully looking into his face and trying to catch any changes in his mood.
"I don't think it's so necessa'ry," he was smiling, but you could see in his eyes that something hurt him, so you didn't intend to back down.
"Kurt," you took his hand, he recoiled, but you squeezed his hand a little tighter, "it's me, I won't hurt you, do you hear?" you said softly, looking straight into his eyes.
He nodded and sighed heavily. A crooked grin slid across his lips, immediately disappearing.
"If you don't want to talk, then I won't force you," you continued, looking at him seriously.
He nodded at first, but then shook his head.
"Okay… I want to, but it's difficult… This is..." he stammered, trying to find the words, "it's p'robably better to sit down. Hold on," he took you by the hand tighter and teleported.
You were right at the door of his room. He pushed open the door and shook his head invitingly.
"Come in."
You accepted the offer and stepped into the darkness of the room. However, the darkness was not too long, as light flashed almost immediately.
You saw the chair and looked back at Kurt. He waved his hands:
"Don't ask, but sit down, Y/N, My God," he let out a chuckle, and then added a few more words in German that you didn't understand.
You grinned, then sat down, folded your hands on your knees, and stared at him with curiosity in your eyes.
He sighed heavily again and the smile disappeared from his face.
"There were people there," he began clearly from afar, clasping his hands in a lock, "and they were scared when they saw me, said that I was a monster and I didn't belong here, that people like me shouldn't exist and we should be exterminated. I think they're right, but to hear it from someone and think it yourself are two different things, right?" he looked uncertainly into your eyes, as if trying to find confirmation there.
"Kurt..." all your words just disappeared when you were thinking about what he had just said, and Wagner shyly lowered his gaze. "No," you didn't understand where the firmness in your voice came from, but you were so sure that he was wrong that you even jumped up from your seat and took his hands in one impetuous movement, looking into his eyes.
He looked at you blankly.
"Listen, you are my best friend, Kurt, I am very glad that I met and made friends with you," you smiled. "Someone's words should not change your opinion about yourself, do you hear me? What they told you has nothing to do with the Kurt I know and love..." you stopped in the middle of the sentence, realizing that you blurted out too much, but continued to look into his eyes.
"Y/N..." Wagner drawled, looking at you with excitement.
"I... uh... if you don't... I..." you rattled, getting confused in words and looking away.
"Do you love me?" it seems, he asked hopefully, although now you were no longer sure of anything.
"I... yes," you exhaled, giving up. Not daring to look into Kurt's eyes, you clenched your hands into fists, mentally reproaching yourself for the words that escaped so untimely. Well, why now? Although you weren't sure if you would have said it later.
He looked into your eyes and looked down.
"But I'm a f'reak..." with some desperation in his voice, the mutant replied in the same whisper.
You put your hand on the guy's cheek, slightly turning his head towards you. I wanted him to look at you. You probably said it out loud because he obediently looked into your eyes.
"Maybe for someone you are a freak, but for me you are beautiful, both in soul and outwardly," you smiled, kissing Wagner on the forehead.
He looked at you, and you leaned towards him and almost weightlessly touched his lips with your own.
"I love you, Kurt," you whispered, breaking the kiss.
Suddenly he picked you up in his arms, you laughed, put your arms around his neck and kissed him on the lips.
"Ich liebe dich*," he said in German, but you understood him, because you learned the language a little.
"I love you too," you smiled affectionately, kissing him again.
He put you down on the floor, and you squeezed his hand and kissed him on the cheek.
"You are beautiful, Kurt," you continued to whisper, "the way you are."
He smiled shyly and his smile was reflected on your face. He gently ran his hand over your cheek, and you snuggled up to him, hugging him tightly and realizing that it was worth it to blurt out your secret.
You raised your hand, gently touching his scars on his face, and out of the corner of your eye you noticed how the tip of his tail twitched.
"Thank you, Y/N," your name sounded like music from his mouth now, and a happy smile and shining eyes were one of the most expensive gifts for you that you would never exchange for anything, ever.
