It is okay to want to sleep. And it is okay to sleep. What is totally not okay to sleep all the time, although nowadays elite is able to sleep about twelve hours– that is the maximum of dream dose, the limit, which was achieved by the scientists. Wow, the elite can sleep as cats! Extraordinary luxury!
So, one day I decided to try prohibited dreams. For that I had to find shoppers who change their location constantly. Luckily, Joe did not let me down.
Oops, I forgot to introduce myself. My name is Aiven. And I am a dreamer.
Being a dreamer is not easy , because they are tested by different dreams, before the dreams are taken into mass producing.
I have become a dreamer recently, but got addicted to dreams so fast, that I got sick and wanted to try something unusual, forbidden. But in order to get prohibited dreams I need much money. Luckily, I have some.
So, one evening Joe and I went to look for dreams. Shoppers were hiding in the cellars and some other unpleasant places, and we couldn’t find them for a long time. Feeling despair, we wanted to go back, when suddenly a thin man appeared just in front of me.
It seemed his skin was wrapped around his bones. Dark clothes were hanging on him like a sack. Beside his thinness I noticed a cigarette in his hand. Seeing us, the man grinned showing his yellow teeth.
“Looking for dreams, huh? I’ve got two. A dreadful dream and erotic one”. – the man put his hand into his pocket and pulled out two test-glasses with labels on them.
‘Cauchemar’ and ‘Erotic’ – said the labels.
“I will take both”, - said I. “How much?”
Looking at me the salesman laughed.
“You have no idea!”
That hurts. Even some dealer thinks I cannot afford buying prohibited stuff.
“I CAN afford it”, - said I and repeated the question.
The man named his price, and I but my tongues just in time, because otherwise I would swear. The price was higher twice than the sum I took.
“Joe, can I have you for a sec?”
The salesman raised his brows with a wide grin and fought the urge to laugh out aloud, but kept the silence.
Joe went with me round the corner.
“Can you lend me some money? I will bring it back”.
“Promise?”
I assured upon oath that I would return the money, and got it.
After paying I got the test-glasses and went home to take one of them.
I had to think through about my choice. The point is that sometimes dreams can be unpredictable. And I all of people should know how unpredictable realizable dreams can be!
Once I was tested by one. After drowning myself into sleep I understood at once that it was a dream and I might do whatever I wanted. I rode a tiger, teased a crocodile, took a prey from some wild man and then, finally married his woman.
It was an extreme, but I liked it because of that.
And so the time came. I prepared the bedroom – aired it, punched the pillow into shape, lied in the bed. I opened the first test-glass with trebling fingers, forgetting to check the label.
I drank the substance, the dream came to me, I relaxed in the bed and closed my eyes…
Two naked girls appeared just in front of me and smiled viciously and licked their lips. They gestured, calling me and promising unreal pleasure. But I happened to get chained to the bed and could not do anything, but twitched.
Then one of the girls, a curly blond, sat on my knees and reached my lips. I moaned and… woke up.
The salesman tricked me by giving me a poorly made dream that lasted only for two minutes. I was not happy, of course. In addition to it, that dream was a realized, but I could not do anything.
I sighed heavily, stood up and began to come and go.
I paid two thousand for two different dreams. The first turned out to be a fake. What should I expect from the second one?
Who will give me my money back? Also, I borrowed some money from Joe…
Well, I had to do this. I would not dare to sell the nightmare, so I decided to try it.
‘Come on, Aiven, put yourself together’, - I said to myself and gulped the nightmare.
This time I did not fall asleep so fast, but before I passed out, I felt my whole body filled with lead. Breathing stopped, it became more difficult to breathe. Something squeezed my chest.
‘Sleep paralyses!’ – realized I, and everything went dark in my eyes…
I could not move my arm or leg. I lied in the bed thinking that everything is just nonsense; it could not end like that. I tried to stand up, but I could not. Breathing was rare, I felt dizzy…
…I opened my eyes and caught the air greedily. Then I began to breathe like a fish that was on the shore. I started sweating and threw the blanket off my body. I am alive. Alive. No more illegal dreams!
