Imagine that you were a young auror.

Another working day at the Magical Congress of the Office for North America, or rather in its department, the Department for the Protection of Magical Law and Order, or, as it is called even more simply, the Department of Magical Law and Order. Y/N thoughtfully glared at colleagues running past, who were in a hurry for assignments. The girl herself had been working here for about six months, well, as she worked, she was ready to work even now, but, alas, her boss gave her only paperwork, did not give her practical tasks and no one took her with him to his own, because "Mr. Graves forbade". The girl was very upset and at the same time incredibly infuriated.
She used to work elsewhere, but she was transferred to Percival Graves' department, explaining that she would be able to practice combat and defensive spells with him. Yeah, of course he can, how…
Y/L/N was thinking about quitting a few months ago and even wrote a letter of resignation, which her boss had to sign, but still hoped that she would be given at least some practical task so that she could show what she was capable of. The miracle did not happen and the girl decided that she would rather go to work in another department than just sit and do paperwork like that.
The head of the Department for the Protection of Magical Law and Order, Percival Graves, was distracted from the documents and said loudly:
"Come in!"
Y/N, having received permission, quickly ducked inside. Stopping in front of the table where her boss was sitting, she put the sheet of paper she had brought on it and took a couple of steps away.
The man picked up the sheet and, after running his eyes over the text, squinted:
"What is it?" he asked, looking at his employee.
"A letter of resignation, Mr. Graves," Y/L/N calmly replied.
"Let me clarify, Miss Y/L/N," putting the sheet on the table and clasping his hands in the lock, the wizard said, "why do you want to quit? Are you not satisfied with something?"
"I'm sorry, but what difference does it make to you?" objected y/e/c, "just sign the documents and we will disperse like ships at sea."
"Wait, I'm not satisfied with this," Percival grinned, "there must be some specific reason why you want to quit," he looked at you searchingly.
"Well, let's say," Y/N crossed her arms over her chest, highlighting the word "let's say" in her voice, "I don't like the team," narrowing her eyes and pouting, said Y/L/N.
The head of the department nodded, and then, picking up the sheet again, suddenly tore it first into two halves, and then into smaller pieces.
"What are you doing?!" Y/N exclaimed, running up to the table and looking in horror at the remnants of your statement falling to the floor.
"I don't like the reason that you mentioned," Percival said calmly, carefully looking into the girl's face.
"Well," taking a deep breath, Y/L/N muttered, looking away and trying to gather her thoughts, "the aurors are almost always, always on the road, and for some reason I sit in one place, although I studied to be an aurors. Why don't you let me go on assignments? Maybe I also want to catch dangerous criminals like others!" the girl exclaimed, not even noticing how she began to raise her voice, but after a couple of seconds it dawned on her and she bit her lip, convulsively thinking about one important question: will Mr. Graves fire her now or wait a little longer?
Percival inhaled and exhaled, also trying to put his thoughts in order, and Y/N, holding your breath, carefully watched his reaction.
"Miss Y/L/N, do you realize that by striving, as you put it, to "catch dangerous criminals", you are putting yourself in mortal danger?" he asked suddenly.
Y/N didn't expect such a thing. She opened her mouth, trying to say something surprised, but could not utter anything but inarticulate "mmm..." and "uh...".
"But you send other obscurantists to catch such criminals," she finally managed.
"Yes, but none of these obscurantists were as dear to me as you," Graves suddenly confessed.
This shocked the sorceress even more. She shook her head, refusing to believe her ears.
"Excuse me, Mr. Graves, are you kidding or did I mishear?" the girl asked again.
"No, you didn't hear wrong and I wasn't joking," Percival got up from the table and came closer to you, and then, putting his hands on your shoulders, he looked into your eyes, "You are dear to me, Miss Y/L/N and I don't want you to get hurt."
The girl frowned uncomprehendingly at first, and then closed her eyes, shook her head from side to side, and then opened her eyes and stared at the man in front of her.
"So, well, stop," she said slowly, looking suspiciously at her boss, "Did you just say that you care about me?"
The wizard did not look at his subordinate, his gaze was fixed somewhere above her shoulder, and then he looked straight into the eyes of y/e/c.
"Yes," he answered simply and sincerely and turned away from y/h/c, intending to sit down at his workplace again, but Y/N did not allow it.
Grabbing the man by the hand, she waited until he turned to face her, and when Graves did, she said:
"Of course, maybe I'm not quite sure what you said yet, but I don't think you lied to me," looking into his eyes, said Y/L/N, and Graves smiled.
He bent down to her, then slowly and gently kissed her on the lips.
At that moment, there was a knock on the door of the office. Porpentine Goldstein's head appeared in the doorway.
"Oh, sorry," she squeaked when she saw what was going on in the room and quietly closed the door, but Y/N and Percival, who were carried away by each other, did not even notice it.
