..Dad?

She made some sharp turns, stepped her foot faster than necessary, but her dance still looked beautiful.
The silver sequins on her dress, the color of the night sky, sparkled in the light of the lamps.
A man, much taller and older than she was, looked at her more tenderly than anyone could, and with a love that no man would ever look at her with, nor dare.
He crouched on his knee, and she circled around him, still as fast, but no less beautiful.
He picked her up in his arms and spun her around. Her feet didn't reach the floor, and she sat comfortably in his arms as the world spun around them. She was sure of him, he wouldn't drop her.
He slowly and carefully lowered her to her feet, for to him she was more fragile and beautiful than any jewel.
The dance went by too quickly, but it would be one of the best days for them.
A final turn, a bow, and applause.
A girl of five made a slight curtsy to the audience, quickly ran backstage, and hugged her daddy.
He had learned this dance for her, and danced her first waltz for her, giving her such a precious memory.
Tears streamed down my cheeks, and I leaned back against the wall behind me and rolled slowly down it, sniffling and holding the phone with the video and repetitive music on it to my chest.
My insides ached and ached, and I sat there sobbing with resentment, anger, and envy. I envied this girl and was truly happy for her, for I could only dream of such a thing.
From my throat came out a quiet, but so hard to give me a phrase:
-Was it really so hard, Daddy?
