Chapter Fifteen: Sinitsin's Toy Warehouse

Settings
Dennis, holding the toys in his hands, walked straight to the store and stopped in front of the glass electronic doors on which there was a sign “Sorry, but we are closed!” The store was indeed closed, judging by the fact that customers are not coming here yet and the store carts are still empty inside. — Oh no! Apparently we were late. They are closed. — said Silver. — For you, yes. — the lieutenant answers, walking out onto the sidewalk with toys in his hands. — But not for the police. That is, me. The main thing is to stay close until we enter and be sure to hide! And try not to get into rooms where there are video surveillance cameras! — Yes, yes, we understood everything. — says the Time Eater. Danny sat down and lowered the toys to the ground, putting them down so that they could move on on their own and they quickly hid behind the flower pots that stood at the entrance. The policeman came close to the door and made sure that the store was definitely closed. The automatic doors did not react in any way to the approach of a person. He began to look through the glass, trying to understand if there was one of the employees inside so that he could be let in. — Excuse me, sir, what are you doing here?! The store will open only in a few hours. Turning towards the voice, Omarov saw a young guy with a short haircut, wearing a T-shirt, which, judging by the inscription, was the store’s uniform, and with a glass of coffee in his hands. — Good morning. Police Lieutenant Omarov. I came here on a very important matter and would like to talk with the owner of the store. — Dennis explained, showing his ID. The worker checked his ID and opened the doors, deciding to let the lieutenant into the store. He takes out keys that look like keys with a button for disarming a car alarm. He presses and the doors immediately open. Dennis entered first, and the worker followed him. The toys hiding behind the flower pots also sneaked inside unnoticed, keeping themselves pressed against the walls. — Unfortunately, our store director is now at home and is not yet available. He promised to come this afternoon, but in his absence we can give you a tour if you want. — Thank you. In one thing, we will check how you maintain safety for children and other customers. Otherwise, the police will sue your store and you will be closed. — the lieutenant intimidated them. The seller smiled fearfully and said: — What do you? What do you? We have everything provided here. There are even more security cameras so that no one steals anything without paying. When the two people left, the toys were left alone between the two cash registers. — So. Now let's split up and each of us will look for Michael. Let's find Mikhail, let's find Sonic. Forward. — says Silver and the toys are divided into pairs and units. Each of them was looking for Sonic and Sinitsin himself. At the same time, they tried not to attract attention to themselves and not make any noise at all. They searched for Sonic in silence. Mephiles only had a desire to shout Sonic’s name and call him, but the basic rule of toys did not allow him and he had to remain silent.

At the same time

Mikhail Sinitsin himself was still sitting at home and frying pancakes for breakfast in the kitchen. Having finished cooking, he poured himself a glass of milk and English strawberry jam for the pancakes. At that moment someone rang his doorbell. — “O! It seems that he has come!” — thought the collector and decided to hold off on breakfast for now. Getting up from his chair, he went to the exit and opened the door. Standing in front of him was the master himself, whom he had called the day before yesterday. It turned out to be a middle-aged man with brown eyes and blond hair that was already beginning to thin. He was wearing a gray plaid shirt and regular jeans. In his hands was a decent-sized suitcase, more like a chest. — It’s so good that you agreed to help! — It was hard to refuse when you whined like a girl. — he answers him, to which Sinitsin at first frowned a little. Then the master laughed through his closed mouth: — I’m kidding, I’m kidding. Of course I remember how you once helped me and now I will help you. — He enters the house, takes off his shoes and leaves his shoes next to Mikhail’s shoes. — So. Who do you need to repair here? — Follow me, please! — says the collector and leads his long-time friend into his room, showing first Sonic himself without one hand inside the display case, as well as the severed hand itself, which was with him the whole time. — Hey, is this the same Sonic the Hedgehog from that American animated series from the nineties? — the master asks to make sure. He couldn’t believe his eyes, what a rare toy he saw in front of him. — She's the one. I found it at one of the sales in one town in Russia, but his arm was slightly broken, and when I first arrived here, his arm suddenly fell off. It’s good that I noticed it on the floor and picked it up, and then began to always keep it with me so that it wouldn’t get lost. — It wasn't necessary! You could have just left it with him in that very display case. — the friend explains and takes Sonic’s hand, and then Sonic himself. — So, well, I think I can not only fix it, but also put it completely in order. Will you wait an hour or an hour and a half? — Of course! I still have a screening of the film “Sonic the hedgehog 2” on STS. — Mikhail explained and left his friend in the room alone so as not to disturb him. At this time, the master himself sat down at a chair, put down his suitcase, laid it out, made something like a chair and sat Sonic himself on it. — So. Let's see what's wrong with you! — he says to the toy itself as if it hears him and will answer. The fair-haired man took a magnifying glass and examined his head first. — Yeah. Yeah. The upper left needle is slightly bent towards the top. The eyes are dusty and have almost unnoticeable several fingerprints from various people who apparently played with him. — then he examines the legs and soles. — So. Ivan and David. Hm. These must be his old owners who used to play with him. Perhaps one of them accidentally broke his arm and handed it to Sinitsin at a sale. In principle, in the window they stand with their feet to the floor, which means these inscriptions will not be visible. And who will care what kind of names are written there?... Let's leave it. After all that has been said, he takes a cotton swab, dips it in a jar of antibacterial liquid, and then begins to clean the hedgehog’s eyes with the cotton swab. At the same time, he sings out loud to himself: — Sonic X. Sonic X. Sonic. Soni-ic E-e-x. Having finished cleaning and rinsing the eyes, the master took a small needle with two holes, similar to a flute, pierced it in the tissue throat area, took in air and blew with all his might inside. The hedgehog's head inflated slightly, like a balloon, and then slowly deflated. Because of this, the needle now stood straight and was not wrinkled. Taking a mini paintball gun and installing blue paint in it, and also turning on the spray can mode, I began to tint the hedgehog’s head and needles, or rather those places that had almost faded and turned blue. Then he takes white paint and also tints the hands of the gloves, which are almost faded to dark. Finally, John takes a piece of rag and polishes the hedgehog’s red sneakers, as if he were cleaning real shoes. In general, this was not necessary, but he did it for fun and for beauty. Having finished putting the hedgehog in order, the fair-haired one takes another needle without holes, inserts a thread, places Sonic’s severed arm to his shoulder and begins to slowly sew it on. — “It’s not for nothing that my mother taught me to knit and sew from childhood. Such a skill can still be useful anywhere and everywhere. Who said men can't sew?” — he thought cheerfully in his head. At the same time, he himself did not notice how he had already finished sewing his hand. The toy was like new and intact. Having finished the work, he puts it back in the display case and closes it there. — Like this! Now you're as good as new! However, you are probably already too old to play with children. You are now a very rare specimen and are only suitable for display, but cannot withstand an active life. But I was very glad to work on you. Afterwards, he packs his entire suitcase and goes to please the collector himself, and at the same time say goodbye before leaving. Sonic, at this time, while no one was standing here and looking, came to life and looked at his hand. He was very glad that this master repaired it. — Great! — Sally replies sarcastically, looking menacingly at Sonic and folding her hands. Sonic looked at her questioningly, and she, before turning away from him out of insult, finished: — Now you can go! Yes. He planned to escape after his arm was repaired, but now the hedgehog no longer even had thoughts of escaping. He was now sad to look at the chipmunk. Although deep down in his heart he was still glad that he and his hand were together again.

At the same time: Again!

While Dennis and the rest of the separated toys went their separate ways and looked for Sonic and Sinitsin in the store, Silver did the same in the department with toy figures of Death/Wolf from Puss in Boots, dolls based on the animated series The Enchantress, toy police cars, firefighters and ambulances, as well as one empty and large box, inside of which, judging by the shape of the body on the plastic translucent wall, there should have been a toy T. rex dinosaur. Apparently it was removed for inspection, or maybe someone stole it or even fell without the box, and they forgot to remove the box. The white hedgehog, having thrown all these thoughts out of his head, walked further and suddenly he heard a roar that was barely noticeable to the ear. Stopping and listening, he began to look around. Although the danger was actually behind him. The toy Tyrannosaurus itself appeared from around the corner of the left shelf behind Silver. Silver turned his gaze back and saw the dinosaur itself. He also paid attention to the hedgehog, growled quietly under his breath and ran straight at him. Silver had no choice but to run. The chase was almost like a real one. A predator hunting for a prey that runs away from him through the toy aisles. A couple of them, closed inside boxes, came to life and saw T-Rex chasing a hedgehog. The green goblin figurine turned to the side, uttering a short: — A? — No! — one of the Death Wolf figures said, eyes bulging and arms extended towards the plastic translucent wall of her box. Silver ran and ran, and the dinosaur almost caught up and grabbed him with its mouth. When turning right, the floor was slippery. Just in time, the hedgehog saw a sign warning “Caution! Wet floor!". There was even a mop and bucket lying near one of the counters in front. The floor itself sparkled. Taking advantage of this, Silver turned sharply to the right and, stopping, slid along the floor, and then ran further, but the dinosaur did not have time to grab him and crashed into a shelf, after which he fell and could not get up for some time to run further. Then there was a left turn, but when Silver ran there, there was already a dead end on the way. There was nowhere to run, and it was useless to run back, because the dinosaur itself was running there. Realizing that there was nowhere to run and that there was no way to run past the predator, the hedgehog despaired, made a sad face, sat down, covered his eyes with his hands and prepared for this monster to eat him. However, the dinosaur did not do this when it finally caught up with him. The tyrannosaurus grabbed the hedgehog by the waist with its teeth, turned back and moved on with the toy in its mouth. Silver opens his eyes and sees not only that he is alive, but also that the predator himself is carrying him somewhere. He could have escaped from its mouth and run away, but the toy became curious where this dinosaur was taking him if he was not going to eat him. — Sorry! I don’t know if you understand me or not, but... Why did you run after me? And where are you taking me now? T-Rex didn’t answer him and continued walking. Silver began to wait for him to lead him to an unknown place. It didn't take much time. When they reached the desired section, the dinosaur lowered its head and set the hedgehog on its feet. — Thank you, of course, for the ride, but why did you bring me... Here? — he asked the last word later, seeing a department with shelves on which boxes with the same Silver the Hedgehog toys as himself were collecting dust. — Wow! — he says to himself, his eyes bulging and he turns to the dinosaur. — Is that why you brought me here? T-Rex nodded. Apparently he couldn't speak. Then he turned his head sharply, hearing someone’s steps, and started to run away. Silver himself just stood behind one of the shelves, deciding to imitate one of the toys from this department, albeit without a box. A security guard walks by with a flashlight, inspecting each toy section. When he came out, Silver came to life and, sighing with relief, was about to leave. — Hey, dude! — he heard a voice behind him, just like his. Of course, it was another similar Silver who approached him, who was locked in a box. — How did you manage to free yourself from the box? — Free yourself? — Our Silver didn’t understand, and the other one asked him again: — You are also a commodity, like the rest of us, that is sold here? Is not it? — No. I mean, yes, I was sold here once, but... — before he could explain, another Silver in the neighborhood intervened in the conversation: — So you’ve already been bought? Then why did you returns? Free Silver outside noticed him and immediately replied: — I returns here for a reason. The owner of this store kidnapped my friend and I'm trying to save him. — Kidnapped a friend? — asks the third Silver from the top. — Save? — asks the fourth one from behind the free one. The latter turned around when he saw him. In fact, all of Silver's toys came to life in the boxes on their shelves when they saw and heard one of their fellow producers outside. — Dude, this is of course against the rules of toys and the store, but... — said the fifth one around the corner, leaning his hands against the translucent wall. — Could you get us out of here? The free white hedgehog bulged his eyes at what he heard and didn’t understand why they needed this? He himself addressed him: — For what? — What do you mean why? — at first everyone was indignant at such a question, but then they calmed down and at the same time said: — We sorry. The first Silver, who had previously been the first to speak to the one outside, knocked lightly on his box and continued himself: — You see, Silver. We're all locked up here, collecting dust on these shelves. Since our animated series about the adventures of Silver the Hedgehog and Blaze the Cat was officially closed, we have been producing and selling little. Then a new animated series about Shadow the Hedgehog appeared, and new toys began to be made based on it. They are sold there, in the next department behind that shelf behind you. — he pointed his finger and that Silver turned around for a couple of seconds. Then he looked at him again and continued to listen: — New children of new generations already wanted new toys with Shadow, but they had already forgotten about us all. Since then, we’ve all been sitting here forever on the back shelves, collecting dust and getting bored. No one even came here and noticed us. No one else bought us at all. And we so want to get out of these boxes to freedom, so that we can at least go outside and look for our future owner. We all really want this. But we ourselves cannot free ourselves from here. After all, the guards will pass by, notice and put us back. We even had the feeling that we would probably sit here forever and be sad. Some of us even almost went crazy while we were sitting here. Please, Silver, help us get out of these boxes without making noise! The free hedgehog who was outside began to think. On the one hand, this will not be correct. But on the other hand, he felt sorry for them. After all, he himself, as he remembers well, once upon a time also sat locked inside one of the same boxes on one of these shelves, and it also seemed to him as if an eternity had passed. In this regard, she understands them all perfectly. — “Probably if Sonic and Shadow were in my place, they would just walk past them and leave everything as it is. But I can't just stand by and watch. I have to help them!” — he thought, looked around and making sure that there was no one nearby, he went first to that box, took it with both hands and slowly pulled it towards himself, first pulling it out of the shelf and putting it on the floor. He looked around again and made sure that no one was coming, put his fingers between the narrow opening on the back of the box, widened it and pulled the tab of the box. Then he takes hold of the white plastic and pulls it towards himself, pulling out of the box along with it the very other Silver that was inside. — Thank you. — he thanked him, slowly getting up. — Let's free the others now. Each of them took another box and freed two more. Then they also released four more. Our Silver decided to stop there and moved on, deciding that all the other Silvers would cope on their own and free each other. He left this hall and went wherever his eyes led him. — Until a friend. Thank you for helping us. — smiling, one of them waved goodbye to him. Our Silver also waved goodbye to them and moved on. At least his conscience was finally clear, because he helped them free themselves a little. He went out to the very next department behind the shelf with Silvers. The department was all red and had black squares on the floor, like a huge chessboard. Just no figures. On the shelves were toy figures of Shadow the Hedgehog himself. They were all inside boxes with Shadow the Hedgehog branding in red. All of Shadow the Hedgehog's toys were made of plastic and had buttons on the chest, just like Silver's. And for some reason they all stood straight, as if the statues did not come to life. Silver looked at each of them and grinned: — Yeah. It looks like the new generation has changed, but the quality of the new toys seems to be lacking. They look like me. — he said to himself about them. He walked around this entire department and examined each hedgehog and raised his head. He saw a TV from above, which was showing one of the episodes of the animated series about Shadow the Hedgehog, where Shadow the Hedgehog himself saves a red-haired girl and leaves her in the forest, and then tells him to come back for her. She kisses him on the cheek in return, causing his cheeks to turn red and he runs back to base. — A! Well, I've already seen this episode. — he said out loud to himself and lowered his head, after which he saw a small pedestal with a glass case in the shape of a huge glass with a door. On the pedestal itself there was an advertising sign and the inscription: “New! A prototype of a new Shadow toy with switching between good and evil modes.” Silver whistled under his breath and, folding his hands at his waist, said: — I could use these! — after some thought, he decided to climb onto the pedestal and climb into the case. Fortunately there was a door without a keyhole. When he entered there, he saw the same Shadow the Hedgehog toy, like all those in boxes on the shelves. Only this one was a little different. He had bracelets on his hands that were blue and red. On his back was a switch with the words "Good" and "Evil" written on it. Moreover, the switch itself was set to evil mode. Silver walked around him, examined him and, standing in front of him, decided to establish contact with him: — Uh... Hello. I'm Silver the hedgehog. Are you Shadow the Hedgehog? Yes? - but the toy did not come to life and did not answer. The white hedgehog didn’t understand why he didn’t come to life and answer him? Either he is not real, or he himself, while he was sitting here for too long, managed to go so crazy that he died and no longer comes to life? Silver, not believing all this, came close to his face and, holding his hand in front of his eyes, spoke again: “Why don’t you answer?” Aw! - And suddenly Shadow immediately suddenly turned his eyes angry and grabbed the white hedgehog by the hands, twisting them behind his back: - AH!!! What are you doing? Shadow presses Silver's face against the glass wall and says with a grin: — Hello, faker. Finally we met. Now you will die! — What are you talking about? — he asked him. — You violated Black Doom’s code number six hundred sixty-six. — Shadow answers and points his finger at all the boxes with the same Shadow toys as himself on the shelves. — All robotic doubles of a perfect life form must be in shutdown mode until the overlord himself decides to awaken them. — Black Doom? Robot doubles? What are you talking about? — Silver still didn’t understand, and Shadow pressed his face even harder against the glass and said: — Don't pretend to be an innocent lamb, faker hedgehog. I have the powers of Chaos and I will not be afraid to use them against you. — Are you talking about Chaos Blast? — Silver asks, rushing out of Shadow's toy and pressing the red button on his hand. Immediately the red bracelet lit up and a speech imitator was heard from the chest: — Chaos Blast! Shadow gasped and widened his eyes. When the glow stopped, he belched back at that very moment, afraid of getting caught in the supposed explosion and shouted: — YOU FOOL, OR WHAT??? YOU COULD KILL ME!!! — Kill you with a light bulb that was glowing? — Are you still making jokes? Do you even know who I am? — asks Shadow and proudly stood in an epic pose and began to boast: — I am Shadow the Hedgehog, the perfect life form and leader of Emperor Black Doom. I swore to protect Black Doom and his armada from G.U.N. The longtime enemy of the intergalactic empire! Silver looked at him at first as if he were crazy. — Strange toy guy! I don't have time to communicate with him. — he answers to himself out loud and jumps from the pedestal to the floor. Shadow immediately jumps after him and grabs him by the back. — Let's see whose will take it, faker! — he tells him. The black-scarlet one grabs the white one by the shoulders and throws it against a pair of boxes with two of the same slightly similar toy Shadows. When they collide with their boxes, they come to life out of fear and do not understand what is happening. — Hello! — all that the white man could tell them, until the evil hedgehog that attacked him again grabbed him and threw him over himself. Once on the floor, Silver also grabs the opponent by the shoulders, pulls him up and throws him away with his legs. He returned and tried to grab him, but Silver dodges, grabs the black-and-scarlet from the back and tries to pin him against one of Shadow's toy boxes. The latter stretched out his arms in time, rose up, did a spider somersault, jumped over Silver, grabbed him by the back and quickly dragged him to the wall, where screens for drawing in gray on white hung. While he was dragging him there to slam the hedgehog’s face into a kind of wall, Silver himself tried to talk to him: — Listen to me! Listen! Listen! Just wait!...
