Part 1 - Foggy morning
Fear is a disease and hope is the only cure.
Pre-dawn silence. A calm, cool wind blows across the endless expanses of the savannah. The dewy grass rustles almost inaudibly, hidden by a thick, silver fog slowly spreading across the fields. All this morning harmony is disturbed only by the barely audible snoring of the dozing pride, coming from the mighty Rock of the Ancestors. Kovu, as usual, rose to his feet before anyone else. Yawning widely and shaking his dark shaggy mane, the young lion sleepily looked around. At first glance, nothing unusual stood out in the dark, deep cave. However, if you take a closer look, you could easily notice that the Pridelanders tried as best they could to stay away from their new cohabitants. And although the prides were united, a residue of mistrust still remained. The lionesses could not hunt coherently - this led to a lack of food in the family. The two groups divided among themselves, they began to blame each other for everything, quarreling endlessly and spreading various gossip and rumors throughout the pride. Simba tried to pretend to be absent, as if not noticing what was happening. But not at all because he was indifferent to the fate of his native pride. On the contrary, he simply wanted to give Kovu, as the future king, the opportunity to cope with this escalating problem on his own. The young lion guessed about this, but did not yet know what he could do in such a situation. The sleepy lion came to his senses from his heavy, boring thoughts and turned his gaze to the young princess Kiara, sweetly sleeping next to him. The expectant mother was expecting the birth of her little fluffy bundles of happiness any day now. Rafiki said there must be at least three of them. Kovu, having learned about this, was very happy, which somewhat surprised Simba, who, during Nala's pregnancy, was very afraid that there might be more than two cubs in the litter. Kovu was only afraid of the risk of Kiara having two boys and repeating the story of the two brothers - Mufasa and Scar. Therefore, the young couple decided in advance: if two princes appeared, they would rule together and be raised as equals. However, Rafiki greatly reassured everyone, saying that most likely the prince would be alone. “I hope this baboon is not mistaken,” Kovu thought, watching the sleeping beauty, “If this old monkey still understands anything.” He leaned down and gently rubbed his wife’s soft, golden-reddish cheek. Kiara shivered slightly in place and, quietly snoring, turned over to her other side with a peaceful, childish smile. A wide, joyful smile also ran across the young lion’s worried face, and he, remembering that it was high time for him to be hunting, headed towards the exit from the cave, which was clearly visible in the thick darkness. Standing on the edge of the cliff of the Ancestor Rock, dark from the shadow of clouds, the mighty lion deeply inhaled the fresh, cool spring air. Enjoying the activity and carefully examining “the limits of what he sees.” The morning turned out to be quite windy. Flocks of huge, ash-gray clouds rushed across the endless gray-smoky sky in fast, violent waves. From them, across the Rock towering above the entire savannah, playful and fast, transparent shadows ran. To the sound of the wind, they, like streams of a fast and harsh river full of vitality, floated along the cold, dark stone and, reaching the edge, disappeared into nowhere. Kovu, looking down, watched this unusual and yet beautiful “shadow theater” with great interest. About six moons have passed since the unification of the two warring prides and the reunion of young hearts loving each other tenderly. Very soon after the wedding, the young princess became pregnant. Kovu couldn’t remember how happy he was, although he was very worried about his wife. The young lion almost never left her alone for a minute and always tried to please the expectant mother with something. Every time, before dawn, when the entire pride was quietly, peacefully sleeping in the cave of the Ancestor Rock, Kovu, silently getting up, went on a morning hunt in order to get Kiara and the future children a fresh breakfast. Simba often noticed this, but tried not to show it and continued to sniffle carefree and only quietly peeked, slightly squinting one eye. Since the end of the war, he began to trust Kovu and tried to teach him everything that the future king needed to know... But this time Simba decided to talk to Kovu, not as king and prince, but as father and son. After Kovu left the cave, Simba decided to follow him. He slowly got up so as not to wake his queen, who was sleeping peacefully next to him. Looking at the peacefully snoring lioness and smiling, he followed Kovu, who, meanwhile, was thinking about something. Approaching closer to the edge on which Kovu was sitting—What was the future king thinking about? At this question, Kovu turned around sharply in surprise. - - Good morning, Your Majesty replied to Kovu. - Enough with you, just call me Simba, because we are already a family after all. - Yes, yours..., that is, Simba. It's a deal then. Simba sat down next to him and looked up and began to look at the clouds. Kovu did the same. - It’s beautiful isn’t it? Simba asked. “Yes, it’s beautiful.” Looking at Kovu, the king realized that something was bothering him, but he didn’t really dare to share it. So Simba decided to take charge and ask what exactly was bothering him. -So, what do you want to talk about? “Kovu, apparently expecting such a question, bowed his head, looking down somewhere into the thickets of grass. “I’m a little worried about the birth of our children.” I'm worried about how the birth will go. Will the children be healthy? And... he also hesitated to answer. “And what if there are two sons in the litter?” he looked questioningly at Simba. “Calm down Kovu, everything will be fine.” — When Nala was pregnant. I was also worried a lot and wondered what would happen. And when Kiara was born, and after her Kion, all my doubts disappeared, like those clouds that we were looking at now. The main thing is to believe in the best. Both turned their heads to the blue sky, to the clouds that serenely hovered above their heads. “We cannot know what will happen in the future, but we can prepare for it. — Kovu looked at Simba and began to think about his words. - After a couple of seconds, Kovu replied: - but how can we prepare? - Well, we can go to our good old friend for advice and at the same time check the boundaries of our territory. This idea seemed tempting to him and in response, Kovu nodded. - That is great! Let's go. - Simba went first, and Kovu, looking again at the cave where the lionesses were sleeping, smiled and followed after Simba. After they both walked around the border of their territories and did not notice any obvious intruders. We went to old Madrid. Walking along the road to an old branchy baobab tree. Kovu asked Simba: “Tell me, when will you teach me royal traditions and knowledge?” - Oh, um, I wanted to wait until the birth of the heirs, so that I could train you both and pass on all my accumulated knowledge. -A, clear. Kovu looked a little depressed. -Don't worry, you will be a good king. - Why are you so sure of this? - Just trust my experience. And when they came close to the old tree, they heard someone’s loud laughter coming from the tops of the trees, and looking closer, they saw that the same madril was swinging on the branches. It was Rafiki. He mumbled something to himself, and rejoiced at something “Crazy monkey.” Kovu said to himself. “Yes, there is a little.” Simba answered him, whispering in his ear. “Hey, aren’t you talking about me?” Rafiki asked, descending from the branch. “No.” Both lions said in unison. “Hmm.” Rafiki narrowed his eyes and looked at both lions. But then, delighted at their appearance, he began to laugh and laugh again. And look for something in his pumpkins that were hanging on his stick. “Um Rafiki, what are you doing?” Simba asked him. “The main question is, what are you doing?” he pointed his finger at Simba’s nose. “Um, we came to ask your advice about Kiara,” Kovu began. “I’m worried about her.” I have some strange feeling. — Sitting down opposite the madril and looking into his eyes, I expected a little instruction from him. Seeing this madril, he calmed down and went up to Kovu and put his hand on his shoulder and said: “Kovu, the great kings of the past protect you and Kiara from any misfortunes, I understand your anxiety, but you can’t do anything except encourage and help Kiara in every possible way.” Remember that we are all your family and will come to your aid at any moment. - These words made Kovu feel much better, but he began to think again and retreat into himself, but he was brought out of his thoughts by a small blow to the head with a stick. -Oh, for what?! - began to rub the sore spot where Rafiki hit. -To think less and think more. The madrill began to giggle and have fun. -Yes Kovu, Rafiki is right, you should stop harassing yourself so much with your...(blow)....Aw, for what?! -For prevention. - Rafiki answered, starting to laugh even more. - Oh, that's how it is! Well, I'll show you! - Simba grabbed Rafiki’s stick and began to pull it towards himself, and the madril tried to take it back. “I will soon grow a horn in this place because of you,” Simba said through his teeth, holding Rafiki’s stick. At this scene, Kovu couldn’t help but laugh, and started laughing, but the two stopped. And looking at Kovu, they also began to laugh. But after a moment we were distracted by the question: - Why are you laughing? All three looked towards the one who asked this question. It was Kion - the previous leader of the Lion Guard, and now the king of the sacred tree, as well as a loving husband, as well as a future father, with Queen Rani's children. He arrived here from a neighboring pride to congratulate his sister, and at the same time visit old friends and acquaintances. -So why are you laughing? - Kion asked the question again. “Yes, here Rafiki gives us wise advice,” saying this, Simba and Kovu began to rub the bump on their heads. - Ah, got it. Why are you worried Kovu? Kion asked him. As if you weren't? - Kovu replied, “aren’t you worried about Rani?” Kion blushed a little at the question. “Yes, very much.” When I found out that she was pregnant, I couldn’t be happier, and when I found out that my sister was pregnant too. So I almost crawled out of my skin. - Yes, you are right. I had the same thing at the beginning.. - Kovu and Kion began to talk on this topic, but they didn’t notice that Simba and Rafiki were looking at them smiling. - Did they become friends? - said Simba - It's true. They will be wise rulers. Rafiki answered placing his hand on Simba's shoulder and both looked at their conversation. — Um, dad, weren’t you worried when Kiara and I were little? - Of course, I was a little worried, but... - A little?! - Rafiki interrupted him. — you were swaying from side to side like a mad boar, worrying about Nala and your children. I was wondering which one of you was pregnant. - These words made Simba blush like the pulp inside a watermelon. - Rafiki, I didn’t ask anyone about this! - Having said this, he looked at Rafiki’s smiling face, and then to where there had just been a conversation between two young lions. They looked at Simba, eating while holding back their laughter. But, unable to bear it, they laughed so loudly that the birds that were sitting on the branches of the baobab tree scattered in different directions. Simba, looking at the two of them, also began to laugh. After a few minutes, everyone calmed down. It was already almost evening, although this was not clear, since the weather was deteriorating. And everything was covered with rain clouds. Approaching Kovu, Rafiki asked Kovu - are you feeling better? “Yes,” Kovu answered with a smile on his face. - Thank you all. Not for that, Kovu, we are always with you. - Kion responded to these words. I hope you will support me when my Rani gives birth. And then I started, I experienced something... (blow). Aw! For what, Rafiki?! “For the same thing as Simba, for prevention.” The madril began to laugh, twirling the stick back and forth. - Rafiki!! - all three said out loud. Wanting to say something to Rafiki, all three turned their attention to the rapidly approaching bird. It was Ono, over time Ono grew into a large and beautiful heron and he was very glad that his old friend Kion came to the prideland to stay. Descending to the ground, Kion greeted him. - Ohno, long time no see, how are you doing? - It's okay, but let's not now. Your Majesty and Kovu, it has already begun. “What started?” Simba asked him. - Childbirth, Your Majesty. Kiara went into labor. “What?! Already?!” All three lions said in unison. Simba commanded the following: So, Kion take Rafiki and lead him to Kiara. Kovu take everything you need, whatever Rafiki says. Oh, I'll warn all the pride members. It warn Timon and Pumbaa, they are now at a watering hole. -Yes sir. I will warn everyone immediately. -Rafiki, are you uh... Rafiki? - All four noticed that Rafiki was sitting on his knees and looking at something in the distance with frightened eyes. “Um, Rafiki...are you okay?” Walking closer to an old friend and touching him with his paw. Rafiki came out of his trance and jumped up and began frantically looking for something in his tree. This picture made many people feel uncomfortable. So that the cheerful and always calm Rafiki is scared of something? This was something new. They were only a year old, what he could see there. When Rafiki found what he was looking for, he ran out of the cave. Having said only one thing: -We need to hurry. At that moment, lightning flashed with a large clap of thunder. Hearing this, all four rushed as fast as they could run. Kovu carried a stick with pumpkins, while Kion carried Rafiki. And Simba ran to warn all members of the pride, especially his mother Sarabi and aunt Sarafina, who were considered the most experienced and mature members of the pride. All three of them thought to themselves only one thing: “let everything be fine.”***
From the very morning the sun rose and hit the young mother’s face. Kiara winced at this. I opened my eyes and looked around to see that everyone was just starting to wake up. She yawned, but decided to lie down some more. -Good morning, daughter. A voice was heard from behind Kiara, it was her mother Nala, coming closer, she rubbed herself against Kiara’s muzzle. Which made them both smile. -Good morning, Mom. Kiara started to get up slowly and hard. Seeing this, Nala helped her up. Are you okay honey? - asked her concerned mother. Seeing how my daughter ate, she fingered the ate with her paws. - Yes, everything is fine, mom, I got up, but haven’t woken up yet. — Trying to calm her mother down, Kiara said the first thing that came to her mind. But today she felt worse than usual, her head was spinning and her hind legs were a little swollen. All the lionesses had already gone about their business, the hunting group led by Tiffu and Zuri, the lion guard, went to their lair to discuss further actions and guarding the borders. Kiara left the cave and, sitting on the edge of the rock, began to look into the distance, as her husband had done before. Nala, sitting down next to her, noticed that Kiara had a much larger belly than she or the other lionesses from the pride had, she had never seen anything like it. Nala decided to start a conversation: “Everything will be fine, dear, don’t be afraid.” The main thing is to remain calm and hopeful. “Oh, I’m not worried,” said Kiara with a stone face, looking somewhere to the side. — So, what do you plan to name the babies? At this question, Kiara smiled and looked at her mother. - We... haven't thought about it yet. We decided that the whole family will think about what to call them. - And this is the right decision, dear. You know that Grandma Sarafina is sensitive to the names of children - having said this, Nala rolled her eyes. -Yes, haha, I remember how you argued with her about what name Kion would have. “Yes, she ate all my baldness so that I would name my son Kion, it’s good luck,” she said. “Ha-ha, well, that’s right, Kion is lucky, he took a queen and a beauty as his wife, became a member of the famous Lion Guard, and acquired a roaring ancestor,” Kiara said smiling. - That's for sure, but thanks to whom does he have all this? - Nala said with a playful smile. - Of course, thanks to our female ingenuity and unimaginable beauty!! - These words made them both laugh. - I see you are already up?! Nala and Kiara turned around to see the head of the Lion Guard, Vitani, moving towards them. - Oh, hi Vitani, sit down with us, we are talking here about my brother. - Kiara said, moving a little. Vitani lay down next to Kiara, so Kiara was in the middle. - Well, exactly what are you discussing? - Vitani asked. - My son's wedding. - Nala answered - Oh, I remember how Kovu and Kion ate so much meat that they looked like two hippopotamuses. - All three lionesses laughed at these words. “They became friends then, they began to communicate more, but it was easier for Kion to get to know him than for Kovu.” - Kiara said. “That’s because the only person Kovu communicated with then was me and Nuka.” After these words, Vitani let go of her ears and averted her eyes. “I’m sorry, we didn’t want you to remember these moments,” Nala apologized. “Nothing, I just miss him sometimes.” - Vitani said looking at the sky, which was getting darker. Everything was covered in clouds. “But you liked Kion back then?” - Kiara asked her. -What?! Kion?! No, of course he is handsome and smart, but... Why are you looking at me like that? - Nala and Kiara looked at Vitani with a sly smile, clearly expecting such an answer. So are you still in love with him?! - said the two lionesses in unison. What?! No?! Why do you think so?! Hey?! Are you even listening to me?! - the two lionesses drowned in a stream of laughter while Vitani blushed at these words. While the lionesses were discussing their pressing problems, It flew towards them. —Good morning, Your Majesty, Princess Kiara, Guardian of Vitani. -Good morning, we didn’t ask you to do it so formally, just call us Nala, Vitani, and me Kiara, how many years have we known each other? -Yes, Kiara. - said Ono. - So what did you want? - May I know where Kion is now? I heard that he came, I wanted to see him. “He followed his father, it seems to Rafiki’s tree,” said Nala -Okay then I’ll fly to them. Then thunder struck with all its might. From which Ono, frightened, hid behind the lionesses, and the lionesses themselves were seriously frightened. “W...we better leave the edge of the cliff,” Vitani said, rising above them. -Yes, Vitani is right, it’s better to go to the cave since it will rain. - Nala said getting up. “Yes, you’re right.” Looking a little closer at the sky, Kiara saw something there. Which made the two lionesses look at each other. - Um, baby, we have to go. -Yes, yes, but I think I saw something there. -And what is it? Looking at the sky, Nala asked “I guess... it seemed.” Kiara said, getting up. Turning around and starting to walk into the cave, Kiara was overcome by a sharp pain. Kiara screamed, two lionesses ran up to her and began to ask what happened, but Kiara became more and more painful. They both understood what was going on. Began. - Ono, fly and tell Simba and Kovu that it has already begun, let them bring Rafiki. - Nala ordered him. “That’s exactly what he said.” It flew away to the side where Kovu and Simba were now. “Oh, mom, I feel so bad and in pain!” said Kiara, reaching the right place in the cave specially prepared for a woman in labor, and lay down - Don’t worry about the road, everything will be fine, we are with you. - Nala said in a soothing voice. - Aaay. Aaah!! Kiara started screaming. Vitani and Nala, supporting her at that moment, only thought and prayed that “let everything be fine.”
