— Nastenka, Karina is already here, get ready to go for a walk,” Razumovsky said, looking into his daughter’s room.
— I’m not going for a walk.
— How can you not go? The man paused at the open door. — Karina came specially to take a walk with you. I have to leave, I’m in a hurry.
— I’m not going! Nastya spoke whimsically.
— Nastya, let’s go for a walk? The weather is beautiful, a slight frost, the sun is shining,” Karina said, looking into the room.
— What did I say, Karin? I’m not going for a walk.
— I’ll buy you something delicious, — the girl said. — You like sweets, don’t you?
— Do you know how many of your sweets I have? The girl ran to the chest of drawers and opened the top drawer. — Look! That’s how much!
Karina looked into the drawer. It was filled with different chocolates.
— I’m tired of sweets, I’m tired of walking, I’m tired of reading books. I’m tired of everything! Go home, Karina!
— Okay, I’ll go to the living room then…
— What did I tell you, Karina, go home!
— How do you talk to her, Anastasia? Sergei asked sternly, looking into his daughter’s room again. — Ask for forgiveness now!
— I don’t want to and I won’t! Her face turned angry, and her red wavy hair fell over her shoulders and stuck out in different directions.
— I’m taking Karina out now, and we’re going to have a serious conversation with you, young lady. About your behavior,” slamming the door to the room, Seryozha turned to his bride. — Karin, I’m sorry. Please forgive me. I’ve put everything on hold, so I’ll take a walk with her myself today, and at the same time I’ll have a serious talk.
— Don’t worry, Seryozha. I’m not angry. There’s something good about her, you know.
— Of course I know. That’s why I want to talk to her. I hope I can do it. Especially since tomorrow is the New Year. It’s good if we all get together.
— So it will be, — the girl kissed the man goodbye and left the apartment.

In the evening, after a walk and a conversation with Dad, Nastya thought about something. She cleaned her room, put the books on the shelf, listened to the story her dad read to her before going to bed, and fell asleep.
She woke up at midnight. Nastya got up and went out into the corridor. She heard a voice in the living room and quietly approached. The door was slightly ajar, and the girl saw her father sitting in an armchair. He was looking at some bright boxes and talking on the phone.
— My little bird, why aren’t you sleeping? — the man asked when he noticed his daughter in the doorway and put down the phone.
— I can’t sleep. What are you doing? The girl came closer and sat down on the soft carpet.
— I’m making gifts for the children from the orphanage, baby bird, look at this! Sergei pointed to a huge pile of different boxes with toys.
— So beautiful… Daddy, you are so kind and caring! Nastya said, climbing onto his lap, kissing and hugging him.
— Tomorrow is the New Year. I have to take them to the kids in the morning. Razumovsky picked her up in his arms and carried her back to the room.

Nastya opened her eyes. On the electronic clock it is 7:32 a.m. So, you can still make it to the orphanage with Dad. She jumped out of bed and ran into the hallway to Dad’s phone. She quickly dialed Karina’s number and waited anxiously for an answer.
— Yes? — She finally heard the girl’s voice.
— Karina, it’s me, Nastya.
— Nastenka, is everything okay? Karina asked anxiously.
— It’s okay, come quickly! I want to give a gift to the children for the New Year!
— I’m going to pack up and come, — the girl replied, immediately realizing that something had happened to the girl.
— Do you have a box and gift paper? The girl asked.
— I’ll bring the box and the paper. I’ll be there soon, wait.
After passing out, Nastya ran to her room, miraculously not knocking down her father, who was standing and smiling, watching all this. The girl began to wait for Karina, and when she entered the apartment, she threw her arms around her neck and hugged her, said.
— I’m sorry, Karina. I’m ashamed that I behaved so badly. I was rude to you and didn’t obey you. But I promise I won’t do that anymore and I’ll be good,” She kissed the girl on the cheek.
— That’s good, Nastya, — Karina hugged and kissed the girl with emotion. — And this is what you asked for.
— Thank you. I really need them,” the girl ran to her dresser and, opening the top drawer, quickly began to put all the sweets in the box. Then she wrapped the box with gift paper and tied it with a ribbon. Karina and Sergey watched her closely and with interest.
— And now, Dad, let’s go to the orphanage soon to give the gifts!
After getting dressed quickly, Nastya, Karina and Sergey went by car to the orphanage sponsored by Razumovsky. After passing through several corridors, they turned into one room. There were children from 5 to 10 years old. There was a boy among them. When the girl saw him, she ran to him without hesitation, while her father gave gifts to the others. She handed him her box.
— This is a New Year’s gift for you, — she said sheepishly.
— For me? The boy took the box. — How my little sister will be happy to see the gift! — he said, looking at her with joyful surprise. — Thank you!
— Please, — she hastened to answer, already preparing to return to her dad, who was not far from her.
— Happy New Year! The boy shouted after her.
Anastasia congratulated him in return, standing next to Karina and holding her hand.
— Did I do well?
Sergei, without answering anything, kissed his daughter.
