Chapter 11, Saving soldier #22
December 26, 2023 at 10:20 AM
Lily walks without stopping in her house, her heartbeat higher than ever. Her precious photo was missing from her bag, and she has no memories of removing it from there. She heard the door opening in her back, and she boils from inside, while recognising Alan’s way of coming inside.
— Alan, I swear, if you stole my-
But, once she looked at him, she immediately stops. He tried to stand with the help of the door frame, planting, a lot of blood covering his leg and something in his hand. He reaches her and gives her the picture, covered with blood.
— Yordan had it…
— Where is he?!
— Red Nexus… They thought it was me…
— Why are you here?!
— Seeking for your help… I can’t do anything in my state…
— Alan… Aren’t you able to heal yourself since you’re a God?
The Norwegian looks at his pants then shows his knee. Not a single scratch. Lily smacks him behind his head while call him “idiot”.
-----------------
Away from there, a squad enter a lab, big smiles on their faces.
— We got him! It was easier than before!
One of the soldiers trows a man on the floor, in front of his superior. The old man grabs the prisoner’s hoodie to reveal his face. But instead of the blue eyes of the God, there is a tan man as confused as the others. The old man takes a deep breath and glance at the soldiers.
— Idiots! Does he look like the God?
The soldiers whisper as their captain shivers.
— Well… He was alone at the same place as all the times… We didn’t know there could be someone else than the God.
— His name is Alan….
Yordan clenches his teeth seeing these men disrespecting his friend. The supervisor grabs his head to be face to face with his prisoner.
— “God”, “Alan” or “piece of shit”, I don’t care about his name. But I care about my experiments, and we have a lot of delay since your friend is not very co-operative. But you see, a bit of diversity in our test can be beneficial. We will find you a good cell and treat you like you worth it…
Somewhere in the same building, Lily crosses her arms. She stomps the ground harded as her patience runs out while Alan walks and looks everywhere, visibly lost. The hallways are surprisingly empty, but it does only help. She moans loudly.
— You were here more times than every of our Walkers united and YOU’RE LOST!!
— Every corridor looks the same — whimps the man
— Then find the way! — shout Lily, her clothes starting to smoke — We have to find Yordan before being seen!
On the other side, a soldier came out of the door and saw them. No one moved until the soldier put off his visor.
— Alan?
— Victor!
Alan smiled happily while Lily got confused.
— Sorry for interrupting this… reunion, but we really need to find Yordan!
The soldier scans the woman with suspicion.
— Alan… who is she?
— She is the devil itself, the one that, I, personally chose for this role! — says Alan in a very proud-with-himself manner
— You got the idea from a random Walker… — sighs Lily
— Anyway, the man that your colleagues have mistaken for me is one of our greatest soldiers, my closest friend and her charming lover… — Revealed Alan as a dramatic comedian
— That’s… getting weird… — mumbles her with confusion
— We came here to save him from the tortures they planned for me to endure. Do you have any idea where he can be?
A silence takes place, full of confusion from Lily’s side and admiration from Victor. He quickly came back to earth after that.
— I'll lead you to his cell, just let me get rid of the guard before entering. Hope I won't get punished for that
Victor starts walking, and the two supernaturals follow him. The woman reaches her friend's side.
— What was that?
— I don’t see what you’re talking about.
Some minutes later, they are in front of a cell with a body lying inside. Lily rushes to the bars and torns them.
— My love! Are you okay?!
The body turns slowly and Yordan quickly but unsure stands up.
— Oh, LILY! Oh my. you here? — shouts he, trying to breathe — Or it’s my brain one more time? I-I-i can’t be sure, I’ve seen so much weird stuff so far, I don’t know what is going on. it’s hard to think, everything. blurry. Where am I? Please, help me, dear… — cries he.
— Is he… okay? — ask quietly Victor
— Alan? — worriedly asks Lily, looking at her boyfriend
— What? — with same misunderstanding replies the leader.
— His pupils.. — whispered Lily and her face went pale
— Oh, my.. — only could reply Alan, after realizing, — did they give him.. drugs? Well, that's pretty logical tho..
— What do you mean?! — aggressively asked Lily
— Well.. — awkwardly started Alan — he's a spy and he would've most likely found the way out pretty easily if he was sober.. So drugging him was a technically good.. but a very immoral move...
— Wait, he's a spy?! — shouted Lily, also shocked by the fact, that Alan is capable of critical thinking.
— Yeah. Who else did you think he was?
— Your assistant? Hacker? Whoever! I had no idea he was in such danger all this time.. And now he suffers because we didn't take care about his safety, while being two most powerful beings in the world!
After that they went silent and now they both were standing in shock with pale faces and barely breathing. Lily's scared and irritated in the same time, Alan froze in shock and the feeling of guilt.
— Heyyyy, why you so scared? — suddenly asked Yordan, taking a look directly at Lily.
But a confused silence answers him, making his eyes teary.
— It’s because of me, right…?
Lily got a tender smile realising that he will always care for her, even in that state.
— I’m sorry, dear… — says she, wiping the tears from #22's face.
— Ohh, what can I do with that? — replies Yordan, still confused
— I don’t know. Just. try acting normal — says Lily, gently grabbing the soldiers' hand.
— Okay!
Yordan hugs Lily as if their lives depended on that, blushing the devil.
— Well… erm… Okay, can you at least walk-, — asks she, suddenly remembering about Yordan's situation.
Yordan seemed not to know himself, so he freed Lily and just took a step.. then fell on the floor. Lily tried to help him, but unfortunately, taking him like that on her arms was too dangerous for him in his casual size.
— Alan, please, turn him into something I could carry… Alan?
She glanced at outside of the cell, seeing a worried Victor and a neutral Alan. The Norwegian walks slowly towards his friends, snaps his fingers and the soldier disappears to be substituted with a sphinx cat. But he took him in his arm before Lily could do it and gave the cat to Victor, confusing both of them before walking to the doors.
— Victor, stay behind us.
— W-Why?
Alan looks at him, his blue eyes lighting his face and his clothes turning white.
— Clean up this place from the dirt… You help me Lily?
A terrifying smile slowly appears on Lily’s face as her eyes turns black and red and her clothes starts to smoke really bad.
— You know how to talk to me ~
In a big area, many soldiers trained for the next attack on the Walkers, when a loud sound of explosion outside of the area stopped them. Suddenly, one of the wall collapsed, revealing two silhouettes in the smoke of dust. All the soldiers aim these visitors, almost laughing. No human can beat them, they are not even totally human. When one of the silhouettes walked towards them and came out of the smoke the soldiers understood. The ones in front of them.. are not human. At all.
Lily smirks, her purple-red demonic wings deployed, her twisted horns still smoking, some parts of her body covered with red and purple scales while her tail leaves some purple fire on everything it touches.
Another noise from upon them terrorized them even more when they realise who made this. Alan was in a feline position on one of the vehicles, his clothes entirely white, two cat ears lying back on his head, a puffy cat tail and his wigs deployed like an angry owl, making him even more puffy. Lily, even being his partner, chuckles and rolls her eyes at seeing that, but fortunately it was left unnoticed.
Alan hisses loudly, the sound resonates in every chest, making the soldiers breathless, his eyes glowing and his wings shivering before releasing his divine glow, blinding all the soldiers but none of them kneels.
Some of them tried to run away, but a warmth stopped them, powerful, unstoppable, like coming from Hell itself, making them scream in pain and terror. A purple fire starts on every exit and grows quickly, creating chaos. Some of the screams seem to come from the fire itself, intensified by the number of soldier ending in it. The whole building starts to crack and fall in pieces, while the fire extends and some white glow appears in the cracks.
***
Lily and Alan are outside, looking at the burning ruins in front of them. Lily stretches herself while yawning, her wings pointing to the sky like stretching too and her tail wrapping her legs. Alan looks at her, his tail still a bit puffy whipping the air, leaving like some glowing glitter flying a bit before disappearing and his wings packed in his back
— Geez… that was boring… — moans the Devil making the God laugh.
— You just burnt an entire base of our enemy, killing everyone — he looks at Victor, kneeled on the floor behind them, shaking of terror, a purring cat Yordan in his arms — every enemy, and you find it boring?
— There was no resistance! I love challenges!
Alan laughs again, his tail now still and normal size, revealing a soft fluffy fur. They both look back at the third who hasn't moved even a bit. Lily approaches slowly and takes with tenderness the cat in her arms, meeting the terrified eyes of Victor and warmly smiling to calm him down at least somehow. She starts walking towards the camp while kissing her boyfriend's head who seems to be less under the drugs effect, while Alan lowers to Victor's height with a sweet smile.
— Thanks a lot for your kind help.
These words comfort instantly the soldier who take the courage to look at the God in the eyes, to be hypnotized by their color, like the sky itself was here. Alan gently pets his head, a nice warmth wraps Victor like a blanket. He closes his eyes to enjoy this sensation which makes him remember some winter childhood memories next to the chimney, a tear rolling on his cheek while the sound of the fire came from the depth of his memories. He soon realised that this wasn't the sound of a fire, but a purring. Coming from the God in front of him, eyes closed too and his forehead touching the soldier's one, making him blush. Alan backs up a bit and opens his eyes before softly blowing, making Victor's armor cracks and falling into pieces.
— Now it will be easier to explain to your superior why you're still alive.
He stands up and starts flying to reach his friends, leaving Victor alone, looking at his base now being a ruin.
Later in the night, everyone is in their home to protect themselves from the pouring rain. Only one person is still outside.
— LILY!! I UNDERSTOOD NOW!! THAT WASN'T A GOOD IDEA TO BRING BACK YORDAN IN HUMAN WHILE HE WAS STILL IN YOUR ARMS!! PLEASE PUT OFF THE LEASH!! I'M COLD AND WET!!!
