Chapter 2, The day everything went wrong

Alan slowly opened his eyes. He seemed to be asleep for quite a long time... Well, he was most likely just to get too tired on this party they had yesterday. Alan slowly stood up, still looking very sleepy and noticed the prophecy disk, still glowing white some meters far from him.
— Whatever I do, it still keeps telling the same...— said Alan with despair in still a bit sleepy voice of his, — but I can still change this, can't I?- he giggles.
Alan puts on his clothes, takes a piece of old fabric and walks to the disk.
— Because I'm the one to rule here — says he, hiding the disk under the fabric, — there you go. Now I can finally move on. One more battle seems to be the brilliant victory of mine today.
Alan walks towards the door, but in the very end he stops and takes a quick look back at the disk. It seemed to stop glowing. Alan smiled and headed to the battlefield. The drones are ready, as well as soldiers. It seems like everyone was only waiting for the leader to come. Today they had the mission to attack the concentration camp of Nexus and save the walker prisoners from there. Once Alan has given an order, they headed North and soon were in the right place and ready to attack. It all started with the drone fight, just as it was planned. Alan was standing and calmly watching, at least because he knew: this day they will succeed. Just as before. They will be heroes... And HE would be a hero. With the latest drones update the success was guaranteed. Wait... What?
With all this calmness and thoughts Alan has completely forgotten to watch what was going on around him. The soldiers were running away in fear. There were NO working AVI-8s left anymore, so, it means, no weapon... Alan froze in fear and disbelief. How could it possibly happen?? Three RX-8 drones were right in front of him and almost ready to shoot him right in the chest
— Alan! — could Walker suddenly hear from his back, and soon he was already on the ground, being pushed by Walker #22.
But soon he could hear a shot and the scream of Yordan. Alan took a look at Yordan's shoulder. It was bleeding.
/W-what? We were supposed to win, what is going on?/
— Why are you still here yet?! Run! — yelled #22, hissing with pain and started to run away himself. Alan was still shocked, but followed him as fast, as he could. And he could feel the despair and pure horror, filling his body with every move.
All Alan could think about was "That was not supposed to happen... That was not supposed to happen!"

Yordan closed his eyes and clenched his teeth, trying to make it seem, like it was not painful for him at all. But every time the wet piece of cotton touched his shoulder, he was hissing in pain. Lily sighed.
— What is this even soaked with?? — asked Yordan, trying to think about something else, but not the pain, at least for a moment
— Um... Vodka. — replied Lily, reading the label on the bottle
— VODKA?? Don't we have any hydrogen peroxide at least?
— Well, nope. — said Lily, soaking the piece of cotton in alcohol one more time and putting on the #22's shoulder. The soldier hissed quietly.
— What about just pure ethanol? Do we really need to add water to it that much? It's just weird...Lily sighed again.
— You got no idea what saving the resources is, do you?
Alan was sitting nearby, just looking into nowhere and seemingly feeling pure apathy. He lost the battle... For the first time. But it was not supposed to happen, was it?? But what if the rest of them will be like this? No, he can't let it happen. If he can't be sure walkers can be safe, he must do everything he can to protect them at the moment... Until it's too late.
— I guess, I gotta go. I got some busyness. Sorry — unemotionally said Alan and headed to the exit.
Lily followed him with her eyes, when suddenly has given the cotton in #22's hand.
— I gotta check something. You do know what to do with this yourself, while I'll be out. — Said Lily very quietly
— Wait, do you suspect him in something? He's our friend and leader, after all, don't you trust him, dear? — same quietly asked Yordan, looking Lily in her eyes.
— I feel like something's wrong. Please, just wait for my return.
#22 still was confused, but nodded and Lily accurately followed Alan, leaving #22 with a piece of cotton, an open wound and a bottle of vodka.
They were walking for a while, but suddenly stopped not far from the end of the walker camp. Lily hid in the bushes and started watching. Alan stood still and sighed, just as trying to calm himself for something. Suddenly he has raised his hands up and there has started to appear a huge protective wall out of nowhere. Lily froze in shock and even some kind of fear. When the wall was over, Alan just took a quick look at it and said
— Well, now I'm at least sure we will survive this night, — Walker nervously giggled, stood still for a while and headed back to his house.
— Interesting... — whispered confused Lily and decided to know what was going on this night at any cost.
