In the meantime
A new day had already arrived at home, and the toys went out to the garden inside the gazebo behind the house and tended the vegetables for the return of their owners. Cream, with the help of Amy and Blaze, poured small drops of the prepared solution in the pollinator onto the tomatoes, starting with the largest one first, because the Draytons cared about it the most. Next to the tomato, a small beetle was slowly bursting out of the ground. Silver immediately managed to run and slammed the beetle with his plastic palms, crushing it. — These are harmful insects. It seems like winter is outside, but they are still living and crawling. — he said. — Well, what did you want? Amy teased him. It’s winter outside, but here the greenhouse is even hotter than in summer. Therefore, here not only vegetables sprout even in winter, without fear of freezing, but also pests that can eat. — Better collect all the crushed beetles and throw them out in the cold! — Blaze asked. — Of course, I’ll go right now. — the white hedgehog answers and, putting the slammed beetle in a plastic bucket, took it in his hands and carried it with him to the exit to the porch. He passes by Bokkun and Eggman, who were playing a tabletop sea battle game and Bokkun unfortunately lost. — D, three. Bokkun says, holding the red mark in his right hand, hoping to hit it this time. — Missed. — Eggman answers and marks the indicated point on his field with a white mark, after which he continues his move. — A, four. — Damn it! You sank him. — Bokkun said as the mustachioed toy grinned in victory. — Rogue, you took a peek. — Oh, stop whining and pay! — the doctor asks, and the robotic messenger toy decides to first remove his right ear from his head. — No no no no. Not an ear! Give me your right eye here! — he asks and the toy removes the indicated eye instead of an ear. Before giving it away, he asks: — Maybe you can let me get even? Silver, not paying attention to them, stuck his head out the door, looked around to see if there were people nearby so that no one would see him, went out onto the porch and threw the crushed harmful insects into the snow, allowing their small corpses to freeze in the cold, after which he went into the house and closed behind himself, not noticing that the same van with Marb and Barry was passing nearby again. — Jimbo definitely said that he looked around this house and there’s definitely no one there. Maybe we were just imagining things? — Marb asked his smart partner. — Okay, sit here, while I go and check it myself. — Barry said and getting out of the car he went to the porch of the house. Kneeling down, he lightly stuck his head through the dog door. Eggman, when he saw that someone unfamiliar with a bald head was climbing through the booth on the door, bulged his lenses on his glasses, showing surprise, shushed Bokkun, signaling him to be quiet and whispered: — Freeze! Bokkun immediately realized that he was not joking and froze, pretending not to be alive. Eggman did the same and fell on his back. Barry, looking up with his head stuck out, did not have time to notice how those two toys left in the corridor were moving or talking. He began to examine the corridor and stairs. There was no one except two toys in the corridor at all. Convinced of this, he pulls out his lip, raises his shoulders and crawls back out the door. Then, like a bullet, he sharply sticks his head inside again, in order to possibly catch the one who is hiding, and those two toys, just as they stood there with the board game of sea battle, stand there, not moving at all. This time, completely sure that no one is there, Barry pulls his head outside. Bokkun is the first to come to life after this and sighs: — Phew, we almost got faed. — Who was this stranger? — Eggman wondered, getting to his feet. — And why did he stick his head through the dog door and look around our house like the most nosy neighbor? Barry returned to the truck at this time and got behind the wheel. — Well? What's there? — asked Marb. — There’s no one there... Well, more precisely, there were two toys and some other board game lying in the corridor. Apparently the children in that house don’t clean up their toys after themselves. — the thin man explained. — Wait! Well, if there was no one there, then why did we see tonight and yesterday that someone was still at home, throwing a party and even turning on the lights in the middle of the night? — the big man asked. — I don't know, Marb. They probably just missed the plane a couple of times and left this morning. — Wait, wait, wait! Which one this morning? Jimbo told us that he was there tonight and checked that no one opened the door for him. — Marb said and got out of the car. — Where are you going? — I’ll go and check the house myself. Also me found a smart guy! — Well, why be rude, Marb? The big man pressed himself against the wall and crept to the window, looking into the kitchen, but strangely enough there was no one there. Or rather, there was Cream, who was under the table behind the tablecloth and was trying to say poetry. When she saw that someone curious was climbing through the window and peeking through the window, she decided to play a joke on him and shouted somewhere to the side: — DAD, COME HERE AND HELP ME!!! Marb heard this cry, but did not know who shouted it, much less saw it anywhere. I had to retreat and return to the truck. At this time, Eggman came into the kitchen and asked: — Why are you screaming like that, Cream? — Some curious guy was spying on the kitchen through the window. — Cream explained. — There’s a girl living in the house there who called her dad to help her with something. — Marb Barry explained. — Are you fooling me? I checked it, there was no one there. — said the brain of the gang. — I heard someone’s voice there, and you claim that you didn’t see anyone? Something is not clean here! — the big man suspected and suddenly it dawned on him. — Or maybe the child was left there alone and he just wants us to think that either there is no one there, or that there is still someone there to mock us? — Marb, you need to watch less TV on New Years! — Barry grumbled. — Okay, let's go out together and check it out! — Marb suggested and together with Barry they left their truck. At that moment, in the house across the street, Stephanie looked out the window to admire the neighboring houses and accidentally noticed two guys leaving their truck and approaching the house of their neighbors Drayton. She wondered why they were going there if no one was home? Except toys. Marb and Barry stood between the door and each pulled out a gun. Eggman, Cream and Bokkun were waiting for this. Cream took out the speakers and placed them near the door, turning them on at full volume, and she connected the speakers themselves to the computer on the second floor and waited for a signal to turn on the audio recording of machine gun shots by clicking on the audio file. Shadow approaches Eggman and Bokkun and they begin to imitate the voices of people who were supposedly in the house. — What are you doing here, you little brat? I told you, collect precious service, not money! — Eggman was the first to speak, and then Shadow played along with him: — Are you crazy. We are already barely surviving in this capitalist hell, and you are asking us to collect some kind of garbage instead of money. While Eggman and Shadow imitated people's voices, Bokkun went into the warehouse and took out a couple of firecrackers for pranks. Marb and Barry, when they heard voices, decided to wait to knock down the door and listen to who was talking about what. — If the owners return home and find out that their money is missing, they will immediately call the police. No one will think to look for ordinary things and furniture, because the police will be on the sidelines for such trifles. — Don't talk to me, boss. We need money more and I will destroy anyone who gets in my way. Even you. — Oh, you still haven’t learned to choose the right opponents? — You are not my rival. I'll give you five seconds to let me leave with whatever loot I want. I count to five. — then, while Shadow was pretending to hear what he was counting, Bokkun at that time put firecrackers under the door and lit the fuse. — One, two, FIVE!!! — after this shout, Cream clicked on the audio file and the speakers began to make loud sounds of gunfire, and the firecrackers exploded, depicting a glow. Barry and Marb, when they heard shots and saw a flashing light under the door, mistaking it for shots, got scared, slipped on the porch and ran to the truck, and Shadow even pretended to laugh villainously, and Eggman moaned as if he was really shooting him. Stephanie, looking out the window of the neighboring house, laughed at what she heard and saw, because she knew very well that it wasn’t all there for real. Marb and Barry began to crawl towards their truck, afraid that bullets might fly out of the house and hit them. Having reached the truck, they climbed into it and locked themselves inside, driving away from here as fast as they could. Marb even shouted: — GET RACE OUT, BARRY!!! RACE!!! RACE!!! — I RACE, I RACE!!! Eggman leaned out through the dog door, looked around and returned to the house and said: — They left. Overjoyed, the toys began to clap each other's hands. — Let's hope they don't come here again. — Shadow said. Barry and Marb at this time went out of town and hid behind a billboard. — What was that just now? — Barry asked himself. — I don't know, Barry. I don’t even know who was there, but they already killed one of them. That's for sure. — answered Marb. — And these people got ahead of us, judging by the fact that they are also robbing. — This is impossible. Jimbo personally checked all the houses and assured that only we would rob them, because we are the only bandits in Krasnogurbensk. — Barry explained. — Wait! Maybe we can come back and see again who’s still there? We still work in that quarter. — Exactly. There were similar dialogues in the same film. You also say, like, what if the police start to come after us and... — Marb didn’t have time to finish, when he received it from his partner in the back of the head. — Ay! — God gave me such a stupid partner who only has movies on his mind! — he grumbled to himself about the big guy. — But on the whole you are right. It would be nice to know the answers to their questions. — Who are they? — Marb didn’t understand. — Those two who were ahead of us, fool. — the thin man said rudely. — Who did you call a fool, fool? — the big man responded rudely. — By the way, in our gang, I’m the only smart one. — he told him.Chapter Nine: Trouble

The Draytons and Dauns were watching the last videotape with the last recording, where they said goodbye to the now adult James, who had already matured and was going to the airport.
— It’s a pity that you’re flying to Russia. Maybe you'll change your mind and stay with us? — asked Uncle Herman.
— Moreover, we also have institutes of knowledge about other countries around the world. — old Uncle Pasha said behind the scenes, judging by his voice.
— I would love to, but this was the dream of my whole life. Since childhood, I always dreamed of being there, and besides, they assured me that they teach there better and easier than here. — James explained.
At this moment, Uncle Pasha, with tears in his eyes, gives James his favorite toy from childhood, with which he always played.
— Never forget about us and write letters more often. — he asked his nephew.
— Of course, uncle. I will never forget about you as long as my favorite toy is always with me. — he answers him.
They hug and James, stopping once in the middle of the journey and silently waving his hand, boarded the plane. The recording stopped there, although it was already clear that the plane then took off. This was the last video filmed with James. After that, the family viewing of old videos was over, and it was already night outside the window.
— Well, how? Did you like it? — Eugene asked.
— Very. — Ivan answered, wiping a tear from his right eye with joy. — It’s a shame that the separation turned out like this.
— Well, dad. Well, for that we would not have appeared separately from them and would not have met them here. — David added.
— David is right. — Lili supported her son. — Besides, otherwise we wouldn’t have met. And our David would not have been born. — she finished, stroking her dear blood on the head.
Ivan thought about it. But really. If his father and uncle hadn't moved away in different directions, he would never have known about Sonic, who could be said to have been part of the family for several generations. It is unlikely that he would have met Lili, who was also interested in the Sonic universe, which helped them become friends. Now adults, they often joke that Sonic and Shadow brought them together. And partly this was true. Vanya could not imagine his life without his wife and son.
Drayton silently hugged his family, not knowing what to say. And no words were needed.
— Dad, can I ask you something? — David asked, thereby returning his father to reality.
— Of course, son.
— Why did Grandpa Pasha react so strictly to Grandpa Mike taking the camera? I understood that he was afraid of breaking the camera, but grandfather clearly did not intend to do this.
— Well, to be honest, I didn’t really understand it myself. I was little the last time I saw my grandfather, so I barely remember him. — Ivan admitted honestly. — Mom told me that he served in the navy. Perhaps this is why he was so strict.
— You're right, Vania. — said James. — Uncle Pasha actually served in the navy, that’s why his character was like that. He also sometimes managed to bring things from other countries, which is why he was so worried about their safety.
— Sorry for interrupting you, but I think everything else can be told tomorrow. It's already late. — Akira said, looking out the window.
— Exactly. Good night everybody. — David politely wished everyone a good night and was the first to go to the bedroom to get ready for bed.

From the author: Finally, a return to this work again, and this despite the fact that summer is almost here.
From the co-author: Personally, I apologize for the long absence of chapters. Co-author lazy bastard.
