Chapter Two: Freedom Week

Settings
As the Draytons had planned, they packed all their things for the flight in advance, went to bed early and woke up the next morning at half past seven in time to have breakfast, wash up in turn and get dressed. Dennis Omarov had also woken up by that time, started his car and was waiting for the Draytons to go to the airport. They got into the car with the necessary things and Dennis drove off. None of them even suspected that one of the toys, namely Sonic, was watching through the window and watching when they left. — All. They set off. — he said and all the toys screamed joyfully in the room, after which they all ran out of the room at once, climbed onto the railing by the stairs, rolled down it and jumped onto the floor near the exit of the house. — We have a whole week when we can live for ourselves and do whatever we want. — Deko smiled. — It’s a week of freedom and there’s no need to pretend anymore for now. — Boko added. — The main thing is to try not to break anything into smithereens. Otherwise, when the owners return, there will be a big risk that they will find out that we are alive. — Bokkun advised. — Or the Draytons will quarrel with the Omarovs and we will be to blame for this. — Eggman added.

At the same time

Dennis rode calmly with the Draytons to the airport. Ivan and David were looking forward to the moment when they would find themselves in the land of the rising sun. Lili just smiled, looking at the happy faces of her husband and son. Suddenly the car stopped and a man in a police uniform approached it. — Good morning. Verification of documents. — the officer said, looking out the open car window. Dennis got out of the car and handed over the documents. — Good morning. Something happened? — asked Omarov. — Unfortunately, it happened. In this city, cases of house robberies have recently become more frequent. We are ordered to check all cars for suspicious persons. — the policeman answered, looking at Dennis’ passport. — Is there any evidence? — Yes, but it doesn’t give us much. These thieves are being too normal. They portray decent citizens and lull everyone's guard. No one can catch them in the act. — It's clear. — said Omarov and noticed that the policeman was looking at the documents for quite a long time. — Sir, I'm sorry, but could you finish the check a little faster? I'm in a hurry. — Oh, sorry! What's your hurry, if it's not a secret? — the man asked, handing over the documents. — I need to take my friends to the airport. They're going on vacation. — Omarov answered, without any ulterior motive. In the end, this will not bring any benefit to the policeman. — Quite curious... Well, have a good trip. — the officer wished. — Thank you. — Dennis quickly got into the car and drove towards the airport, since there wasn’t much time left. That policeman looked after the car as it drove away. There was almost no one on the street at such an early hour, so no one noticed the sly smile and the shine of a gold tooth in the light of a street lamp. Having managed to get to the airport a couple of minutes before the plane departed for Japan, Dennis quickly found an empty parking space and at once walked along with the others and his neighbors, like a mourner. Inside the building, a spreadsheet showed descriptions of eight flights, whose planes were leaving where and at what time. The plane to Japan on its fifth flight was already leaving in one minute. — Hello, are we late? — Lili asked him from the ticket inspector who accepted the tickets. — No. You've in time! — he replied and quickly checked their tickets. — There are seats only in the main salon, choose free ones! — said, letting the Draytons through, they only had time to speed up a little and run to their plane before the door closed and the plane began to fly away. — Goodbye! — Dennis said goodbye to them, waving her hand. — Bring us souvenirs from Japan!

A little bit later

Toys at the Drayton house, in honor of a week of relaxation and freedom, decided to stage a kind of parody of a victory parade. Bucket soldiers G.U.N. led by a sergeant, holding either their guns or Russian flags of red, blue and white stripes in their hands and prepared to march to the music at the signal. There was just a problem. There was an old player for mini-cassettes with music, but unfortunately they did not have suitable music. The rest of the toys made a large stadium with seats out of Lego and bricks, where they sat as spectators and watched the parade of soldiers. — Why are we standing? What are we waiting for? — asked Amy. — We are waiting for music for rhythmic steps. — answered the sergeant, standing confidently in place and not moving yet. — Oh yes. I forgot. We don’t have an audio cassette with the Russian anthem. — Cream wanted to hit herself on the forehead, but since she was a soft toy, she only slightly pushed her head back when her hand hit herself. — So what should we do? - asked Sonya. — Maybe the Omarovs have one. Andrew has been around for a long time and sometimes likes to keep antiques. Maybe he has an audio cassette? - suggested Shadow. — Now I’ll go to him and ask. — Silver answered, got up from his seat and went to the stairs to the first floor. — Be careful! Make sure that no one except the Omarovs sees you! — Rouge asked him. — And Dennis Omarov too! — Omega added. — He’s just the only one in the family who also doesn’t know about the secret of the toys yet. — Don't worry about Dennis! His car is not visible yet, which means he has not arrived yet. — reassured Knuckles, who had been watching the street from the window all this time. — Then I'll go! — Silver shouted, sliding down the railing to the first floor and going out into the street through the door intended for animals. Once on the porch, the hedgehog noticed that it was already starting to get light and he needed to act quickly. After making sure that there were no cars on the road, the toy ran across the road as quickly as it could. While trying not to slip on icy areas. When Silver got to the Omarovs' house, he hid around the corner and looked around to make sure no one had seen him. When he realized that everything was clean, he began to examine the windows, hoping to find at least one ajar. Fortunately, one window was indeed slightly open. And it was located next to the front door, so Silver got inside without any problems, climbing onto the railing and then onto the windowsill. The hedgehog found himself in the living room. Having warmed up a little, he went down to the floor and began looking for Andrew's room, trying to walk quietly so as not to wake anyone. Climbing the steps to the second floor, he looked around. The corridor was divided into two doors, opposite each other. It’s just not clear which door leads to which bedroom. Stephanie appears to be sleeping in one, and Andrew in the other. Closing his eyes and randomly, he began to choose where to go with a little count: — A fly sat on the jam, that’s the whole poem. One two three four five, I'm going walk love. — having finished the count, he opened his eyes and his finger pointed to the door on the right. Since Andrew used to live there in the old house, why not in this house? Carefully opening the door with a quiet creak, he lightly stuck his head out. The entire room was covered in pink wallpaper with dolphins. On the toy table in the center sat four dolls, and with them Gerald himself, who, while drinking tea, pretended to tell each other funny stories. At the same time, they spoke in whispers and laughed with their mouths closed so as not to wake the hostess. As you might guess, Stephanie herself was sleeping on the bed. Realizing that he had the wrong door, Silver slowly closed the door and went to another. Entering the opposite door, the hedgehog was in unimaginable shock. Andrew's room was large, there was light green wallpaper on the walls, which is good for the eyes, there was a bed and a TV near the window, not counting a couple of nightstands between the bed. Not a big red rug in the center, and also a bunch of shelves on the wall and not a big chest. The toy maker himself, unlike his granddaughter, had not slept for a long time and, as you might guess, was sitting at his desk and making another new toy. His toy Pinocchio helped his owner a little. — Eureka! — Andrew said, like Archimedes. He was glad that he had completed another wooden toy. The toy man resembled a Lego man figure, but was still unfinished. Buratino, taking out cans of paints and brushes, began to paint the figurine together with the owner. The paint was quick-drying and oil-based, so it dried quickly and didn't wash off. The little man was now exactly like the little man from the Lego set. The figurine looked like the Arsus bear from the Russian film “Guardians.” That is, the figurine with a face resembled a brown bear judging by its head and body. The legs were painted green and black, so that there were pants and shoes. On the back was a black and gray object that looked like a machine gun. — You are a genius, master. You just came up with a new toy based on modern ones. — Buratino was surprised. — I know, I’m a little shocked myself. — the master smiled in response and put the little man on the floor next to wooden cars and trains, also painted with the same paints in different colors. — Say hello to your new friend! — he told them, the cars and trains drove up to the bear-man a little closer to carefully examine him around one by one. The bear suddenly slowly began to move its drawn face and eyes, doing this for the first time. The cars and trains jumped for joy on the spot, trying to shout out something like: “HE’S ALIVE!!!” At this time, the little man tried to raise his right hand with a claw instead of fingers, which all the little men from Lego sets have. The arm could bend and straighten a little without seams in the elbow area, and the claws, instead of fingers, could clench and unclench. — I... I... I... — the slightly frightened bear cub wanted to say something in his voice, but he was even a little scared by the fact that he could also speak with a drawn face. — You are alive! — the old man finished talking about his new creation. The Arsus figurine slightly raised its head and saw the toy maker who created it this morning. — Don't worry! I know it's hard for you to get used to your new look and who you have become. — It’s great to be a toy, Arsus. — Buratino looked out from the table. — Children can play with you, and you just fulfill your role. Since the figurine itself, in his mind, had just been born, he was a little confused about the meaning of the words “Toy” and “New look,” but he had an assumption that they were trying to help him. He noticed a white hedgehog outside the door and without hesitation waved his hand at him, greeting him. The cars and trains, not understanding who he was waving to, turned towards the door. Buratino and the toymaker also turned their attention there and saw Silver. — O! Hello Silver. — Andrew greeted his familiar friend, took the figurine of Arsus from the floor and placed it next to Buratino on the table. — With what destinies and why so early? — Hello, Andrew! We have one problem here. We decided to make some kind of Victory Parade, but we don’t have a cassette with the anthem, and without it the soldiers refuse to march. — explained the toy hedgehog. — Do you even have a cassette player? Incredible! — Omarov Sr. was sincerely surprised and reached into one of the drawers where he kept audio cassettes. — And yet, why did you come so early? — I came now so as not to catch the eye of Dennis. After all, only you and Stephanie know that we are alive. — Who? — Arsus asked, not understanding who he was talking about. — This is the granddaughter of our owner. — Buratino answered, raising his head. — Usually toys are not allowed to come to life in front of people, but with Andrew and Stephanie you can calmly come to life, since they have never spilled the beans. — But it’s still better to be careful. Dennis Omarov still lives here. Andrew's son and Stephanie's father, but he doesn't know that we can come to life. — added Silver. — And it’s better for him not to know about your secret. — said the old man, after which he took out what he was looking for. — Here, take Silver. That's what you need. — Thank you, Andrew! — the hedgehog thanked and took the tape. — I promise, when we’re done, we’ll bring her back right away. Leaving the master's room, Silver this time slowly went down the steps, holding the cassette in his hands, crawled through the pet door on the exit door, hid behind the left column holding the roof eaves, looked around, there was no one there, and calmly holding the cassette in his hands, walked along the path to the road, across the road and finally reached his house. Well, of course, we don’t forget that there was also a staircase in this house. Therefore, the hedgehog climbed up it, also holding the audio cassette with him. — Here she is! — he exclaimed joyfully. — Well done, Silver. — said Shadow. — Let's get it in quickly! I can't wait to watch the G.U.N. parade. — Cream exclaimed impatiently. Mephiles stood on Omega's shoulders and rose to the player, inserted the cassette into the cassette receiver and pressed the "Start" button. Afterwards, they and the others quickly sat down in their seats. — It’s good that I took seats in the first row. — Deko boasted. First, the first familiar sound of a pipe sounded. There was silence for a second until the choral singing began. The sergeant and the soldiers at that moment got into formation and were already preparing to march. Only the lyrics of the song that they heard were not the same ones that they usually heard even on TV, after each New Year’s address by the Russian President. All toys except Gerald, Maria and G.U.N. who marched to their own anthem, immediately noticed this by ear. Gerald and Maria had not heard this anthem before and therefore they were not surprised, but simply continued to sit and watch the parade of soldiers. ♪ United Forever in Friendship and Labour, ♪ ♪ Our mighty Republics will ever endure. ♪ ♪ The Great Soviet Union will Live through the Ages. ♪ ♪ The Dream of a People their fortress secure. ♪ — Something is wrong here. — Eggman suspected. — What are you talking about? — Gerald asked him. — These are not the lyrics of the song. — Shadow answered. — Maybe Andrew mixed up the tapes? — suggested Silver. — Andrew you say? All clear! He gave you an audio cassette with the anthem of the Soviet Union, instead of the anthem of modern Russia. In both places, the musical notes and sounds sound lonely, and the lyrics are different. — Sonic laughed a little. — So what should we do? — asked Silver. — Nothing. Sit and admire the parade of Soviet soldiers G.U.N. — Sonic answered jokingly. — I don’t know about you, but I like this composition even better. — Rouge replied, stretching her arms, placing them under her head, and placing her legs on top of Big's head, as if she was laying on the bed and enjoying the music. — You stepped on my head. — Big answered calmly. — Oh, sorry, Big! — the bat apologized and removed her feet. Having come to terms with the fact that Silver had borrowed the wrong audio cassette from his neighbors, we decided to continue sitting and admiring the parade of soldiers. The soldiers didn’t care and continued to march to the music. When the USSR anthem came to an end and the soldiers all bowed at once to the other toys, as if they were spectators, the latter at least clapped for them. It is clear that at least they tried and prepared for such a moment.
