The Broom Closet Poem

One day I left my office behind Following the usual story line Repeated in my ears, over and over again I felt sick and terribly bored As I knew this plot as the back of my palm It was so tedious and I even wished For it to end quickly and be done I walked past computers, boxes, sharpeners And silly locked doors I had completely stopped trying to open them And just walked on the imposed path Glancing at slides as usual I thought of going back to the Boss’ office To use his restroom, ride the elevator Read some notes and do other things But suddenly I noticed a door On which the black letters screamed: “BROOM CLOSET” I opened the door and went inside There’s a light bulb hanging from the ceiling And a wrench, and an old cardboard box There’s also a big gray shelf And a bucket, a broom, and a strange metal thing Whose name I can’t remember But who cares As soon as I examined all those details I heard from you that there’s no reason to stay in the broom closet That it’s not necessary for the plot And there are no usable items in it I knew all of this myself and saw it perfectly well And yet I didn’t hurry to leave Even when you started getting angry I stood there motionless like a stone Despite the fact that you called me An ugly and stupid drug addict I didn’t take offense at all Narrator, you know, I liked the broom closet And I don’t care that it’s not necessary for the plot I’ve been in the closet five times already and I’m going back again Because I don’t care about the plot! … I love my broom closet My WONDERFUL broom closet So I will stay in it forever! Even if you restart the game And lock the broom closet with eight steel locks And nail it shut with aspen planks I’ll still come here After all the restarts And I’ll stay in the broom closet, In my AMAZING broom closet And I’ll stay in the broom closet In my STUNNING broom closet FOREVER Until I get bored
