Chapter 1

Settings

A cold wind blew through the cracks under the doors and whistled, rolling between the rooms. Outside the window stretches an icy desert powdered with fresh snowdrifts. It was good that it was dry and warm in the walls of the apartment, illuminated by the dim light of the fireplace.

The green moved closer to the hearth. Despite the fact that the room was warm enough, she was still shaking from the cold. For the climate here, she had a surprisingly unpleasant habit of dressing not according to the weather.

My knees burned with a warm flame.

      — Step back! — The Brown one standing at the windowsill shouted to her — You'll melt, you fool!

There was not an ounce of displeasure in her words, rather she was just worried about her friend.

The brown one loved the cold. She was standing at the window and smoking through the window. The ashes were falling on the floor.

       — And you don't open the window like that, maybe then I'll stop freezing!

Apparently listening, candy threw the cigarette butt out the window and closed it. Bad girl — pollutes nature, Santa Claus will not come to you.

      — Are you satisfied? Now get away from the fireplace! You're chocolate, you'll melt!

Green's eyes gleamed gratefully.
