Epilogue

Notes:
We return to our workers from the future, who all this time were reading this entire story from the diary of the long-deceased Amy Rose.
In the cave, where everyone had already explored the ruins of the entire city with the castle, a muscular, healthy man, together with an anthropomorphic blue cat, were still sitting near the golden monument of the little mermaid and reading the diary to the end:
β Thatβs where our whole story ends. My beloved Silver not only became king, but we also later had our own child, whom we named Melody. She took after me. She was also sometimes disobedient and sometimes wandered even to places where it was forbidden to go and even to places where even the most experienced warriors were careful, but Silver and I still loved her for who she was. Or it was, depending on how many years will pass when I finish writing this diary and hide it inside my monument. Itβs true that I still had the fear that I might turn into sea foam and still die, but at least I lived my entire life on land happily. She even managed to grow old and become a grandmother, since Melody also grew up over time, got married and gave birth to a grandson. Moreover, I let go of all my mental pain due to bullying from my relatives and stopped focusing on revenge. And most importantly, I learned that before the world of people lived a little harder and worse, since some worked only on their own and even refused to work together. However, now everything has changed and everyone has begun to unite. Now everyone wants to live together, help each other, and no one wants any conflicts. If any of you in the future accidentally find this diary of mine and read it, then I hope that it will continue to be so! I hope that you will also live well in the future, helping each other and not thinking only about yourself. I wish you to continue to live like this in the future. After all, only together we are stronger and can defeat any common enemy. And most importantly, I hope that this story will serve as an instructive lesson for you about how to value your love and the one you love. And also trust each other and help. My story is real, but it was it that served as the basis for the book of the badger by Hans Anderson, which he later wrote and published. Of course, he distorted it a little here and there so that his fairy tale would turn out to be dramatic and would be popular because, for example, by removing some characters from the plot, making the witch a third-rate character, who for some reason also gave a more side potion, and he wrote a sad ending, where I supposedly die in the end. But I must admit that I also liked his fairy tale, based on my own real events, and it quite possibly could have gone like this if Prince Sonic had really fallen in love with me, but in the end he would have chosen only Sally, and not Silver at all would. And yet, I am glad that I did not live such a life in vain. I wish you a happy and eternal life in the future. I finish writing my diary here. My name is Amy Rose, I am a former mermaid and I bid you farewell.
When the big man and the cat finished reading, they almost cried. The big man takes a handkerchief from his pocket and gives it to his friend to blow his nose. He takes out another one and blows his nose.
β I didnβt even know that this fairy tale was actually based on real events... And about the fact that the real story ended quite the opposite with a happy ending. β said the cat.
β Not all fairy tales end with a happy ending, just as not all fairy tales have a bad ending. This also happens sometimes in real life. Somewhere, sometimes good wins, and sometimes evil. β the big man explained.
β But I just didnβt understand one thing. If mermaids really exist and there was even peace between them and people, then why didnβt we meet them in our present time or simply didnβt notice them?
The question of the anthropomorphic cat also made the person think about it. The boss, who looks like a short and thin man with glasses, comes up to them and says:
β This place is special, comrades. I think we will set up a museum here and invite people on excursions. Did you find anything?
β Yes. Hidden inside this golden monument was a diary. You wonβt believe it, but it was written by a certain princess and it was this story that inspired the famous Hans Anderson to write a fairy tale about the little mermaid. It's strange that for some reason we didn't know about this. And why didnβt we know about this city with a palace? β the big man asked questions.
β This palace and city were here once upon a time. They were still on the surface. However, after another earthquake they fell here, underground. Some houses collapsed in the process, while others survived, but were only cracked. It is immediately clear that their ancestors built them conscientiously. However, the residents miraculously survived and moved to another place to build a new village, which by now has been rebuilt into our beloved city. Unfortunately, the story about this castle, where our ancestors used to live, has not been preserved. We ourselves found other diaries and historical papers here in other houses, so we now have a chance to restore the history of this entire palace and immortalize it in our modern history books. β the boss explained and opened Amyβs diary. Fortunately, he could read very quickly and had a photographic memory. β Yeah! On the one hand, it looks more like a fairy tale or fiction, but it is written in all seriousness. Where do you say you found it?
The big man and the cat pointed their fingers at the hiding place near the golden monument to the little mermaid Amy. The boss was surprised to see her.
β Little Mermaid Rose! And I once heard a lot about her. When I was still young, my grandparents told me about it, and their grandparents told them about it. But I couldnβt even think that I would ever see a real monument, made to life, and even from pure gold instead of stone. Such monuments are very rare. They are usually made and dedicated to the most incredible people or creatures, which everyone previously considered fiction, but in fact turned out to be real. Now Iβve grown up a long time ago and forgotten about it, having decided to forget about all these fairy tales. But it turns out that even some fairy tales can be real.
β And some may be based on real events. β added the blue cat.
β Boss! β a worker who looked like a green echidna intervened. β We called reporters here so that they could also document our find. Will you give them interviews?
β A? Yeah of course. Be back soon. β the boss answers. Echidna, along with the cat and the big guy, leave on their own for now, leaving the boss alone with the golden statue. He smiled and fought back tears, saying: β Thank you, Amy. Thank you, my distant great-grandmother! Thanks to you, even in our time, everyone lives and works for the future for us and our descendants. I hope that someday we will see other mermaids live, like you, and make friends with them. Sooner or later, but I believe in it.
β Chief, we are waiting for you!
β I'm coming! β he tells them, looks at the monument to the little mermaid for the last time, as if saying goodbye to his beloved forever and leaves, holding her diary near his chest.
Notes:
This is a rather strange ending, but whatever the beginning of this fanfic, such is the ending. How do you personally like this story? Write in the reviews, it will be nice to read your impressions and complaints.
And yes. There won't be a continuation, if anything.
