Chapter 1. What a faint

Settings
Emptiness. No light. No sound. No image. No voice. No knowledge of who I am. …Who am I? Who am I? The memories of who I am are slowly starting to come back. Now at least something becomes clear. It’s me. My name is Aurora Parker. And I just remembered who I am. Nice to meet… myself.       This simple memory was followed by others that swirled in a chaotic swarm in my head. It was as if every single one of them was eager to finally return to their rightful place. Well, once I was able to remember who I was, now I need to remember what happened to me.       It was a completely ordinary day. As always, I was wasting my time on something so useless that I can’t even remember what it was at all. Then I kind of got ready to go outside. I opened the door and was swallowed up in darkness. Well, nothing is clear from this information anyway…       Uncertainly I open my eyes and see darkness. I blink a few times, but nothing changes. Well, okay, it’s still easier to gather my thoughts in the dark. The confusion in my mind is gradually subsides. I can already think rationally, which, of course, can not but please. But the feeling that some fragment of memory seems to be quite important to me has disappeared does not leave me in any way. But since I’m not in the right mood to do this now, I decide to leave my thoughts on this for later.       Speaking of my situation… Only now I realize that I am in some small, locked space, the walls of which are pressing down on me. And I don’t like it at all. I stretch my arms out and touch the cold metal surface with my palms. Hmm, what does it all mean? I try to push harder, but no result.       I’m slowly starting to panic. Where am I? How did I end up here? And what the hell is going on? A lot of new and new questions are swarming in my head. I try to calm down, but it doesn’t come out well. I start desperately pounding the metal surface. Then harder and harder. But the metal doesn’t care about my futile attempts. Already exhausted, rubbing my bruised palms, I lean against the wall behind me. In silence, I try to figure out how else to get out.       Soon it dawns on me that since I can’t do this on my own, I can try to call for help from someone who can help. It’s not a sure that anyone will hear me, but it’s definitely worth a try.       “Hey! Is there anyone here? Please help me! I can’t get out of here!” I tried to shout as loud as possible to increase the chance of being heard.       Only silence answered me. Well, now I have absolutely no idea what to do next! I don’t think anyone heard me. I didn't really hope for that, though. I try to come up with a new plan for further actions, but the growing panic clearly does not contribute to this. Suddenly I hear a commotion nearby.       “Wait, Shuichi, I thought I heard someone’s voice from this class. We should go and see what’s out there,” an excited girl's voice rang out.       “Do you think so? But we already checked it, and it turned out to be closed,” the second voice, apparently, belonged to the guy.       “So we’ll go and check again!” the owner of the first voice answered him confidently.       Someone’s voices. Suddenly, I was scared. What if these people aren’t the right people to ask for help? What if they’re the ones, on the contrary, you should stay away from? “No,” I reassured myself, “their voices didn’t sound hostile at all.” So, taking a deep breath, I shouted again: “Please help me get out of here!”       This time the answer came immediately: “Don’t worry, we’ll help you right now,” the girl tried to calm me down.       I breathed a sigh of relief. I’m finally getting out of this strange place! I heard the door open first, and then a surprised voice rang out: “But when we checked this room earlier, it was definitely closed,” a male’s voice said in bewilderment.       “And now it’s open, and someone inside needs our help,” the girl retorted.       Footsteps could be heard very close now. Someone came up to place I was standing.       “Hey, are you there?” a woman’s voice asked.       “Yes, but I can’t get out of here by myself. Help me, please!” I pleaded.       “Don’t worry, everything will be fine. We’re going to get you out of there,” she encouraged me.       After these words, some kind of fuss began outside.       “Kaede, I think I understand why she can’t open this locker. It’s locked,” the guy made a not-so-happy conclusion.       “Wait, but the lockers we fell out of weren’t locked, were they?” there was a hint of surprise in the girl’s voice.       “Yes, you’re right. But this one is definitely locked,” the guy seemed to be sure of his point.       “So what do we do now?” the girl was heard to address her companion questioningly. There was an unpleasant silence outside.       “Hey, what do you mean by locked up? How am I going to get out of here now, huh?!” the panic inside of me started to grow again.       “D-Don’t worry, we’ll figure out a way to get you out somehow,” the guy answered me somewhat uncertainly. As much as I wanted to believe those words, they didn’t sound particularly convincing.       “And how do you plan to do this?” I asked.       “We could round up the others. Maybe someone will have some thoughts on this,” a female voice suggested the idea.       “Yes, I think it might help,” the guy agreed.       “Then it’s decided. We’ll go get the others. But you’ll have to be alone for a while until we bring them here,” the girl said to me.       “Alone? And how long will it take?” I asked a little nervously.       “Don’t worry, we’ll run back and forth very quickly,” she assured me.       “…Okay, I’ll be waiting for you here. Not that I have a choice,” I chuckled ruefully.       “If you’re afraid to be alone, Shuichi can stay with you. Isn’t that right, Shuichi?” the girl suggested.       “Stay with her?” it was clear from the guy’s voice he didn’t particularly like this idea.       “Yes, you could try to support her with a talk and at the same time inspect this classroom. Just in case there will be something you can use to open the lock,” the girl insisted.       In response, the guy just mumbled something unintelligible. He didn’t seem particularly eager to be alone with me. I felt sorry for boy, and decided I didn’t have to torment him like that: “You don’t have to leave anyone with me. Right now I’m in such a position that I don’t think anything bad can happen to me. I can safely wait for your return alone.”       After a short silence, the male voice said with more confidence: “Okay, I’ll stay. But please, Kaede, hurry up,” it seems that my words somehow affected the guy, since he still agreed to keep me company while his companion brings possible help.       “That’s great, I’ll be right back!” cheerfully assured us, the girl immediately ran out of the classroom.       No one else said anything. I could only hear her footsteps quickly receding. After a while, they also faded into the distance. And the two of us remained in silence.
