My enemy

A strong snow storm makes them tremble with cold. In these high mountains it is impossible to see anything but snow. Among the mountains you can distinguish a small and barely burning fire. The cave is illuminated only by bright rays of fire. A South Korean soldier in German uniform, bites off a hard piece of oil and gives the rest to the guy sitting next to him. The guy silently took and bit off the piece.
— What is your plan? — the Japanese asked without emotion.
— Let’s go to the Germans, then home from there. — the guy answers him.
For some minutes they sat in silence. Only the howl of the wind was heard. They were afraid to sleep. The silence was interrupted by Tatsuo’s barely audible voice:
— Then…why didn’t you kill me? Kim looked at him. Their gazes met. Tatsuo had brown eyes, like dark chocolate. Junshik looked at his eyes and drowned in them, unable to look away. It seemed like the world had slowed down. The guy’s gaze fell on the guy’s thin lips. The Korean immediately looked away. They continued to sit in silence. Soon Tatsuo fell asleep without receiving an answer to his question. The fire began to slowly die out. The white beam of the moon illuminated the dark cave. The guy looked at the sleeping Japanese. Dark brown eyes, like dark caramel, looked at the quietly sleeping guy.
Junshi Kim said quietly: “Then… I wanted to kill you… but looking at your brown eyes, I saw something special in them, I drowned in them, everything we experienced together… I.” I didn’t want to admit it for a long time because it’s wrong, but I don’t want to lose you, Tatsuo… in a world where there is war, my enemy is my salvation, I understand that. Tatsuo slowly opened his eyes and heard everything the Korean was saying. But he pretended to be asleep. He felt the same way about him, but he knew about this feeling before Kim. The snow fell slowly, the sun gradually began to rise, bright rays of light illuminated the mountain.
