Prologue. Unplanned rebirth
November 15, 2023 at 9:45 PM
Mythical era.
He overthrew human states, burned spirit forests to the ground, and even killed gods. He was feared and called the Demon King. They say that his tyranny knew no bounds, and even the laws of nature collapsed before him.
His name — Anos Voldigoad.
— Well, what do you think about this? — said the demon king Anos, sitting on the throne with his arms crossed.
And this would be quite enough to use the magic of words to instill fear in the average person, but the people standing in front of him now did not care.
Hero Kanon is the chosen one with a sacred sword capable of cutting even predetermined fate.
The Great Spirit Reno is the mother of all spirits.
And the goddess of the world Militia, who created this world.
Four beings who determine the fate of the world, whose names will be passed down from mouth to mouth in future eras, have gathered together in the castle of the demon king Delzogade.
— I heard you. The conditions, of course, are not strange, but to make peace? Now? — asked the hero Kanon.
— Exactly.
— Demon King Anos. Do you have any idea how many people you killed?
— I’ll ask in response, hero Kanon, — Anos began to say with a cold look, — How many demons have you killed in all this time?
In essence, he gave Kanon his own line back.
Who started first, people or demons? Now, after so much time, it was no longer possible to find out. No, even if they had known, the past would not have disappeared.
It is possible that the reason was some minor trifle. One killed the other, and the second took and avenged the one killed by the first. And then it just repeated itself over and over again. They avenged the murdered, they killed for revenge. Hatred between the two races grew endlessly and accelerated to such an extent that the chain of tragedy could no longer be stopped.
Both people and demons hated something different from themselves, and in this sense both races were similar to each other.
— Do you think that after all those outrages that know no bounds, I will believe your words?
— Do you know what would have happened if it weren’t for my outrages? You humans would have killed the demons cold-blooded if you weren't afraid of the demon king Anos. In the name of justice, for a just cause, they would kill, without feeling even the slightest sense of guilt for what they had done, and they would also proclaim the murderer a hero.
— Because demons act cruelly.
— Do you want to say that people don’t?
— And you say the demons didn’t do anything wrong?
— War has no such concepts as justice and evil.
Demon King Anos looked at the hero with his penetrating gaze.
— Kanon. You people are sure that if you defeat the demon king Anos, peace will reign, but is this really so?
- Yes, I am sure.
- No. You yourself understood that this was just a deception. Even if you kill Demon King Anos, you will only spark a new conflict. People and demons... This war will not end until the first or second are exterminated. No…
Anos was just talking. But because of his enormous magical power, absolutely every word he said generated magic, similar to the force of coercion. Those who are weak in anti-magic would simply be forced to agree with these words.
— Even if the demons are exterminated, people will still create new enemies for themselves. Then you decide to destroy the spirits that are different from you, and then the gods who created you. And then, when the gods are destroyed, you will begin to fight each other.
— You're right, people have shortcomings. But I want to believe in them. I want to believe in human kindness.
— He-he-he. — Anos laughed.
Hero Kanon was a good man. He knew very well about human vices and still had the courage to believe in their goodness.
— In that case, Kanon, why don’t you believe in the kindness of Demon King Anos?
Kanon did not answer immediately. He must have doubted the veracity of this proposal.
— As I said recently, I propose to divide the world into four parts: the world of people, the world of demons, the world of spirits and the world of gods. Build a wall between the four worlds and lock the gates for millennia.
If races lose the opportunity to contact each other for thousands of years, all mutual grievances will disappear.
— If we turn my entire life into magical power and combine it with your powers, we can create great magic.
— Will you die for peace? But they even call you a demon king.
— You’re the one who wanted to call me that. Besides, I won't die. I will be reborn by finding a suitable vessel. But I will awaken, at best, probably in two thousand years.
Kanon fell silent. Then he said with determination in his voice:
— ...Okay... I'll trust you.
Being the initiator of this proposal, Anos could not hide his surprise. His explanation was absolutely sincere.
And he also provided evidence that there would be no inconvenience for humans, spirits and gods.
There remained only a question of feelings - mutual hatred and resentment accumulated over all that time. It was for this reason that Kanon's words were truly courageous. At this moment, even Demon King Anos clearly understood what it meant to be called a hero.
— Thank you.
Judging by Kanon's reaction, he did not expect these words. He smiled slightly.
— I didn’t think that the day would come when Demon King would thank me.
— Just like I didn’t think that one day I would say “thank you” to the hero.
The two of them looked openly into each other's eyes. Although their viewpoints differed, they still recognized the strength and resilience of each other's souls.
And now their long struggle will finally be rewarded.
— So, let's begin.
Demon King Anos slowly stood up from his throne and then extended his hand in front of him. At this moment, countless black light particles began to rise within the castle.
The walls, floor and ceiling were entirely covered with a large number of magical symbols. The Demon King castle Delzogade itself became a large three-dimensional magic circle.
— This body — the entrance hole for magical power.
Anos stepped forward and exposed his defenseless body.
First, the great spirit Reno, and after her the goddess of the world Militia, directed their palms at him.
An incredibly snow-white wave was released from them. Just like looking at a star up close. A clot of magical power, seemingly endless, shone dazzlingly.
However, in order to infuse how much magical power into Anos's unprotected body, it would not be enough to simply envelop him in so much.
And finally, the hero Kanon drew the sacred sword.
— Are you ready for rebirth?
- More than. Come on already.
“Pop,” there was an ear-splitting noise from a violent flow of magical power that seemed to send sparks flying.
The demon king's castle Delzogade began to crumble, unable to withstand the use of great magic that had gathered all the magical power in the world.
Kanon pressed the floor hard with his feet and resolutely held out the sacred sword held in his hands.
After pouring magical power into him, the sword blade turned into a snow-white light absorbed by him, and then pierced the heart of the Demon King Anos.
- Cough...
Blood oozed from Anos chest. His mouth became red and wet.
Finally his aspirations came true. He's already tired of all this. He lost interest in battles, in this barren world.
—…Hero Kanon. Let me thank you again. If you happen to be reborn after two thousand years, then let...
— Then let we will be friends...
— Heh, — the demon lord Anos grinned, — Goodbye.
His body disappeared along with the light.
***
Unknown time later.
A baby was born in a luxurious demon castle.
— Dear... Look, our baby was born.
A woman named Luna happily held her newborn child in her arms. Next to her was her husband, Celis.
— How cute. He will become an outstanding man.
Celis lightly poked the baby on the cheek.
— Dear, what should we call him?
— Oh, his name will be... Anos. Anos Voldigoad.
Luna smiled at the name, and then looked at the child again.
— Anos... Good name.
While Celis and Luna were enjoying their child, there was a knock on the door.
— Madam, Master, allow me to enter. — an unknown female voice came from the other side of the door.
— Come in, Fiona.
After Celis' permission, a rather elderly-looking woman dressed as a maid from the Middle Ages entered the room and humbly watched this picture.
— I congratulate you on the fact that the young master survived. — Fiona said with a joyful voice.
The child that was now in the arms of the Luna was in fact doomed to death. He was doomed to be born dead, but he survived and now his health is not in danger.
— Uh-huh, thank you, Fiona. In honor of the birth of our son, we must have a banquet! Call all our friends who might come.
After these words, Celis stood up from his seat to leave Luna alone with Anos. Yet, although they both strongly wanted the child to survive, Luna's desire was much stronger than his own.
They are Celis and Luna Voldigoad. One of the 73 pillars of demons, and the kind that survived the war of the three factions and the civil war.
Even though the child seemed to be sleeping, he was actually already awake. But the main thing is that he could not do anything.
He, the Tyrant-Demon King Anos Voldigoad, could not do anything in this situation. Neither speak or use magic.
It seemed to him that all the magical power had been pumped out of him, leaving him with nothing but memories.
“Hmm, the rebirth didn’t go as well as I expected...” was all that Anos’s body was capable of.
Only a lonely thought, after which the remnant of strength that supported his consciousness dried up, and he fell into a deep sleep.
