Chris Evans/Original Female Character - Proposal

Proposal

“Buddy," said Robert Downey Jr., collapsing onto the couch in Evans' trailer, "you broke up two weeks ago, and you want not just to get back with her, but right away, from the start, to say 'Marry me, darling'? Don't you find that strange?"       “No, I don't find it strange," Chris replied, rummaging through the shelves of the trailer.       Downey rolled his eyes and yawned. His friend's romantic nature sometimes didn't lend itself well to logical analysis. Robert believed that you couldn't just take, come to your ex and offer hand and heart right away; first, reconciliation should at least take place.       “What are you looking for?”       “A ring.”       “What kind?" Downey looked surprised towards his friend, who was digging in the pocket of one of the hanging jackets in the closet.       “An engagement ring, Rob," Chris finally replied, finding what he was looking for. "Found it!"       “Congratulations," Downey smirked. "And I definitely want to see that."       “See what?”       “The proposal, of course!”

***

Joe usually left the photography studio where she worked at around 6 o'clock in the evening, so at exactly five minutes to six, Chris, ready and wearing his favorite shirt and jeans, stood in front of the entrance. Downey stood a little further away with a bucket of popcorn, and Mark Ruffalo walked alongside Scarlett Johansson.       Five minutes before Joe was supposed to come out, Chris felt his knees weaken and his stomach churn. Their last fight had ended with things being thrown around. He had told Joe that he regretted ever meeting her. Of course, he regretted his words as soon as the door closed behind her. In reality, Joe Mills was the best thing that had ever happened to him. She was always there to support him, took his constant absence due to filming fairly calmly, and always cooked his favorite macaroni when he came back. Joe's smile and happy eyes were enough to erase any sadness in Chris, and her gentle voice could calm him down and give him confidence.       They had had enough fights, and Evans believed that this should be the last one. He didn't want and couldn't lose Joe, her cheerful laughter and always flirtatious look from her green eyes. He was ready to give her his heart and anything she asked for, but the question was whether she would take him back, again...       Exactly six. Six zero one. Six zero two, the door finally opened and Joe, laughing cheerfully walked out of the building hand in hand with one of his models. Taking a few steps, she looked up and suddenly stopped. Right below, next to the stairs, stood Chris, who as soon as he saw the girl, fell on one knee. The staircase itself was adorned with her favorite flowers - white lilies, and their song was playing from somewhere (from the speakers?). And darlin', darlin', stand by me Oh, stand by me, Woah, stand now, Stand by me, stand by me       Tears began to stream down Joe's eyes. Looking at the man, she couldn't believe what was happening, because just yesterday evening, alone at home, she screamed into her pillow about the injustice of this world.       "Joe..." Chris began slowly, looking at his beloved. "Every moment spent apart from you resonates as unbearable pain in my heart. Today, right now, I want to confess to you that my heart has chosen you, and you are the only girl I want to spend the rest of my life with. As one person said, 'It is easier to live without love... but without it, life has no meaning.' Will you become my meaning, Joe? Will you marry me?"       A short "yes" escaped Joe Mills' lips and echoed through the quiet street, as she wiped away her tears. In an instant, she climbed the steps and found herself in the arms of her beloved man, not wanting anything else but to spend the rest of her life in these embracing strong arms of Chris.
