Notes:
- How do I look? — Yeji turns around at the mirror, examining herself from head to toe. This evening, Hwang was preparing for a date with her ex-boss from her old job, whom she had been in contact with for the past couple of months but had never dared to meet. Tonight, however, she realized it was time to change that and agreed to his proposal. - You look… incredible. — Ryujin looked at her friend with bated breath. She’d had a crush on Yeji since middle school, but she hesitated to admit it, so just staying away. — But I don’t think you should dress up like that for another asshole, — she defiantly looks at the phone when she feels the older one’s eyes on her. - I agree with Ryujin. — Yuna takes her eyes off the phone just for a second to look at her friends. - Why are you always like that…? They’re not all so bad. — Yeji looks sternly at Ryujin. - Maybe because I wipe the tears from your face every time after they’ve done shit to you. Yeji, please, listen to me, I want the best for you, and if some asshole doesn’t love the real you, he’s not even worthy of your gaze. — Ryujin exhales aggressively, putting up with intense feelings of jealousy while the Yeji face softens. - Ryujin…. - You know what? That’s all right, I’m sorry, I snapped, you look incredible, and I think I’m going to go home. Have a good night. — She’s out of the apartment faster than Yeji can remember. -Whats wrong with her? — Yeji mutters angrily. Yuna squints toward Hwang. - Really, what’s wrong with her? — The younger one sarcastically remarked, glancing at her friend. - If you know, why don’t you tell me? — Yeji’s eyebrows bow to the bridge of her nose, showing her annoyance. - You’re not a little girl, you should be able to figure it out for yourself. -Yuna…? PLease? - You’ll figure it out… someday…. I hope so at least, — she giggled and staring at her phone. - And why does everyone around me look like they know something and that “something” is obvious, but I dont notice? - Really? I won’t say a word, Yeji. Yeji clucked her tongue and turned back to the mirror. - Will you help me with my makeup?” Yeji’s voice softened. - Of course, how can i? — The younger Shin rose from the bed with a heavy sigh, watching the pensive Hwang. After a while the makeup was finished and the girl was completely ready for her date. - You’re ready for anything, unnie. I think you’ll knock him out. Because you’re freaking handsome. — Yuna smiled encouragingly and made a fist. - Thank you, Yuna. — Yeji smiled weakly. - If you’re still thinking about Ryujin, then stop it, she’s fine, I’ll take care of her. So go already. - Yes, you’re right. Yeji pulled herself up and smiled more confidently. The girls left Yeji’s apartment and went downstairs. - Oh, here’s my taxi, as soon as you get home, text to me. — Hwang hugs her younger bestie and gets into a taxi. The trip promises to be short. After a while, the notification sound makes the girl get the phone. Jang_D is online. - Text me when you come up. Send at 7:15 p.m. Hwang_Yeji is online - Ok:) Send at 7:16 p.m. Yeji is already arriving at destination, and the weather outside is cold and autumnal. The recent downpour is making itself felt, with puddles on the pavement and the wind chilling to the bone. After paying the cab driver, Hwang approaches her destination. Hwang_Yeji is online - I’m already here. Send at 7:20 p.m. Jang_D is online. - Great. Im coming. Send at 7:21 p.m. Yeji stood outside the entrance to the park, outside a small coffee shop, waiting for her ex-boss to show up. For the first ten minutes, Yeji writes off the fact that the guy might have just gotten held up at work, which was five minutes from the meeting place. Her hands start to freeze. Shin_R is online. - Hows your evening? Sorry again. Send at 7:31 p.m. Hwang_Yeji is online - Its fine, but he still hasn’t come. Send at 7:32 p.m. Shin_R is online. - Let me know how it goes! Good luck, Hwang. Send at 7:32 p.m. Yeji rubbed her frozen hands against each other, warming them with her hot breath. Before she realized it, more than twenty minutes had passed. The passersby around her were constantly changing, those who were waiting for their friends or lovers would eventually wait, and together they would leave to rest deep in the park, but not Yeji. The girl, freezing with every part of her body, so she decides to text him. Hwang_Yeji is online - How soon will you be? It’s a little cold out here:) Send at 8:01 pm Hwang decides to go to the coffee shop across the street and get a cup of hot coffee to warm her hands. Once inside, she is greeted by a mixture of different aromas, in the form of coffee, pastries, and more. She inhales deeply and moves to the ordering counter.< - Hello. — The girl behind the counter smiles affably. — Can I help you? - Hello, no thanks, — Hwang quickly ran her eyes over the menu, — can I have a latte with coconut milk, please? - Sure, one latte with coconut milk. — The girl punches through the drink, glancing at the customer. — Tough night, huh? - Kinda. — Yeji smiles tiredly. - It’s times like this when a cup of good coffee and a couple of friends by my side help me. — The girl smiles radiantly, then nods briefly and goes to make the drink. Yeji takes a few seconds to realize what was she said, and all that comes to mind is Ryujin and her words about how she will always be the one to wipe Hwang’s tears, the one who is always there for her no matter what. Hwang pulls out her phone, opens a chat with Ryujin, ready to text her, but the memories of tonight override everything. With a heavy sigh, she locks the phone, then tucks it into her pocket. After getting her latte, she sits down around the window. - He still hasn’t show up and doesn’t even read the messages. — Quietly says Yeji. Shin_R is online - So….How’s it going? Send at 8:10 p.m. Hwang_Yeji is online - You were right. I’m sorry I didn’t listen to you. Send at 8:11 p.m. Shin_R is online - What happened? Where are you? Are u okay? Send at 8:11 p.m. Hwang_Yeji is online - I’m fine, he just didn’t come. Send at 8:12 p.m. * Incoming call from ryuddong~*. — Where are you? - It doesn’t matter, I’m going to finish my drink… - I said, where are you? Yeji sighs. - Café across from the park * names the place* - I’ll be there soon, wait for me there. The call is over and for a second Hwang regrets letting her know, but she also realized that Ryujin is the only one she wants to see now. About 30 minutes later, the bell at the entrance rings, announcing a new guest. Hwang instinctively turns her head and sees the hardly breathing Ryujin. Yeji’s heart beating faster when she sees the younger one. Ryujin was standing in a black cloak in the middle of the coffee shop, looking around the room, soon noticing her friend and moving toward her. - Hey. — Shin smiling, when she sat down across from the girl, — Here I am. - You didn’t have to, it’s okay, I’d finish my coffee and go home. - But you didn’t dress up for nothing, right? Hwang nods. - Let’s go. — Shin smiles, she holds out her hand to Yeji. And as soon as Yeji put her hand in hers, Ryujin drags her away from the coffee shop under the proud gaze of the barista. - Oh, i bet they’ll be together for sure. — The girl smirks and is distracted by the new guest. Hwang follows her friend on her heels until they reach her car. - Where are we going? - You’ll find out! — Ryujin answered. After a while, Hwang spotted a familiar street. - Have we come to your house? Ryujin giggled, then ran out of the car to open the door for her friend. - I thought you’d spent enough time in the cold. Come, there’s a surprise waiting for you inside. — Ryujin offers her hand again, and Yeji accepts it. Once up to the right floor, the girls walk down the corridor. A knock on the door and Yuna in a waiter costume with a drawn moustache opens the door. - Good evening, ladies, your table for two is waiting for you, — says the younger Shin in a parodically low tone. Yeji laughingly watches her friend. - Yuna, what are you doing? - Tonight I’m not Yuna, I’m your waiter! Allow me your clothes. — Yuna pompously removes Yeji’s clothes, giggling intermittently herself. — Let’s go to your table. In the living room, the couch was pulled back, and in its place, there was a round table with two chairs, and candles arranged around it. Yeji walked over and sat at a chair while Ryujin disappeared into the room, but only for a moment, and from there she came out wearing a jacket and carrying a beautiful bouquet. - This is for you, my lady. — Shin smiles broadly, handing the bouquet to her friend and noticing her reaction. — You shouldn’t have done all that… I don’t… I don’t deserve this. — Yeji almost cries. But Ryujin only smiles, kneeling beside Yeji to make her pay attention. - You’re Hwang Yeji, and you deserve so much more than that. You deserve someone who will love you for who you are, who will carry you in his arms and make you happy all the time. You deserve more than being ignored by some dumb asshole, you hear me? Yeji is distracted and her heart is beating faster and faster every second, the silence around her, the dark room and the face of the girl she loved next to her was driving Hwang crazy. -I…. - It’s okay, let’s just spend this evening together, okay? — Ryujin puts her hand on Yeji’s arm. And the older one forgets how to speak and only nods briefly. Dinner consisted of several dishes ordered in delivery, and Ryujin didn’t forget to joke about the fact that she cooked it all in a hurry. By this time Yuna had gone home, leaving the girls alone in a romantic setting. After finishing her meal, Ryujin decides to turn on the music. - Will you dance with me? — Shin holds out her hand and Yeji looks for a few seconds before placing hand in hers. - I’d love to. Ryujin puts her shaking hands on the older girl’s waist, and Yeji wraps her hands around the younger girl’s neck. There is a great distance between them and a slight nervousness with the awkwardness that Ryujin creates. - You ask me to dance, and you stay this far away? That’s not right. — The older one grinned and pulled Ryujin so close to her that they could barely move their legs. Their noses are almost touching. - Thank you for this evening Ryujin, I don’t know what I did without you. - You’d probably freeze to death and be found billions of years later in a block of ice. — Ryujin laughed, though she felt heavy inside, knowing how long she had been carrying the weight of her confession and now she was so eager to tell everything, and only the fear of being rejected sobered her mind. - Always you’re welcome. — The younger one suddenly utters and averts her gaze, which does not escape Yeji. - Tell me, what’s bothering you? I promise I won’t tell anyone. — Ryujin looked up for a second and met Hwang’s understanding gaze. - Do you promise me you won’t leave if I tell you? - Nothing will make me leave. Hwang smiles broadly, tucking a lock of Ryujin’s hair behind her ear and then poking Ryujin’s cheek with her nose. - Yeji… I… You… Damn, this is so hard… — Ryujin’s hoarse laughter echoes around the room. — Can I hug you? It would make me feel better… Instead of answering, Yeji pulls the younger one in, letting her snuggle up against her neck. - The problem is…. I love you, Yeji. Since middle school, when you wore those funny kitties tights and that cute yellow jacket. The whole world seemed to stop, including Yeji. In that second, her whole world turned upside down. All this time the person who had been around forever, for whom she had the strongest feelings that she had repressed, confessed her love. - I understand if you want to stop being friends with me or stay away from me, but for now, just give me one last hug. — Ryujin squeezes harder into the Yeji’s body, afraid it will melt away and disappear. Hwang just chuckles quietly. - Ryuddong… Look at me, please. The younger one did it as slowly as possible, and her gaze was on the verge of tears and Yeji knew how rarely Ryujin cries, although she was on the verge now. It broke Yeji’s heart so much. - You and I, have been together so long, and we couldn’t notice each other’s feelings. I didn’t take the hint, damn it, I have a problem with that, you should have told me a long time ago. — Now tears were streaming down the Yeji’s face, but she also laughed, noticing her friend’s surprised face. - I mean….Wow…. You…. This is a dream, right? — Ryujin pinches her hand lightly, completely distracting herself from Hwang. - No, would a dream have such a vivid sensation? - What are you talk..... — - Yeji puts her hand on Shin’s chin, lifts it so that her head is at face level, and slowly moves to her lips, giving her a chance to step back. But Ryujin is frozen in shock, waiting to see what the older girl will do. When the heated lips touched Ryujin’s, it was as if a cloud of fireworks had been launched at her, her stomach did a triple somersault, and her heart seemed to stop altogether, she didn’t know, but the same thing was happening to Yeji… The kiss was slow and very gentle. - Wow, did we really make it. — Hwang smiles across her friend’s face. - I still think it’s a dream. And I have a question, if you liked me all this time, why did you only go out with guys? - That’s an interesting question that I don’t have an answer to. I didn’t like any of them, but it was important to my mom that I go on all sorts of dates, you know her, plus I needed some kind of distraction from the fact that there was such a hot girl like you walking around and I couldn’t touch her. - You always could, by the way, — Ryujin playfully runs her hand from her neck to her chest. - I don’t mean that, more like this. — Yeji leans in and leaves a light kiss on her lips, on her cheek, and on her neck. - You know, I’m even glad that asshole didn’t come. — Ryujin smirked. - Me too. By the way, you know, the music is over. It’s as if Ryujin is coming out of his hypnosis and turns around, noticing that there really is no music. - Anyway, now you can do whatever you want with me. — The younger one smirks, and though her hands are still shaking, she gently squeezes Yeji’s hips. - So are we… Together now? — Yeji looks into Ryujin’s eyes. - I guess yeah, — her smile was so wide and tears glistened in the corners of her eyes. - Hey, Ryujin, come on, I’m going to cry myself…- Yeji pulls the girl as close to her as she can, — And if we don’t sit down now, every part of my body will fall off. — With this she provokes a loud laugh from the younger one. - Let’s go. The girls cleaned the table, put away the food, and happily sat down on the couch to watch some sweet and tearful drama, because that’s what Yeji loved, and Ryujin loved Hwang. A pleasant evening awaited them, which they would spend together, enjoying each other’s company.
