Selene’s Lullaby

Settings
“So… You left us after all, my king.” Selene closes her eyes, touches the strings. The lyre responds with a gentle, but sorrowful melody. Silver starlight sparkles in Selene’s hair. She lowers her head, mourning for a great hero, a brave knight… a beloved friend. “Goodbye, Moon King,” Selene whispers, “May this song be our farewell.” She sighs. She stars to sing.

Fly, fly, my little birdie,

Fly across the seas.

Fly, fly, my little birdie,

High over the trees,

Above the distant kingdoms

And lands where no one speaks.

Fly, fly my little birdie,

Past the mountain peaks.

Fly, fly, my little birdie.

You’ll be never hurt.

Fly, fly, my little birdie.

Trust the witch’s word:

There’s no one in these valleys,

Just neverendless rain…

Fly, fly, my little birdie.

Save me from my pain.

Fly, fly, my little birdie.

I beg you don’t forget

These gardens full of freedom,

These days of no-regret.

Fly, fly, my little birdie,

Hope will be your breeze.

Fly, fly, my little birdie.

Find what sleeps beneath.
