The last joke

In shadows deep, where whispers weave,
A jester's just, a plot to grieve.
In cloak of night, with vengeful art,
He played his role, a twisted heart.
Through halls adorned with regal grace,
The puppeteer in jest embraced.
His laughter veiled a darker song,
A vengeful dance, a tale so wrong.
A crown of flames, a king undone,
Betrayed by jest, by vengeance spun.
The courtly dance, now turned to ash,
A somber waltz, a mournful clash.
The jester's grin, a mask of pain,
A puppet's strings, a broken chain.
In embers' glow, regrets accrue,
A kingdom lost, a fate undue.
The courtly just, a tragic play,
A sovereign's end in disarray.
Through tears of jest, the kingdom wept,
A sorrowful secret, forever kept.
