Chapter 9 - Sabanryu's Rampage! Or the final chord before returning.
November 15, 2023 at 4:20 AM
A little while later…
I don’t know how much time has passed here, but obviously not a couple of months. I stopped trying to understand the time interval between worlds a long time ago, because calculating the difference is unrealistic—my brain can’t handle it.
The Demon of Pride will not let go unless I tell you about my successes. I’ll start with Shiyasengan, because it is very amazing.
Firstly, it was not possible to awaken the second eye. Perhaps I have asymmetry and this affects development — it may work out in a while, but not now.
Secondly, visually it began to look more like the Sharingan—black sclera, yellow badge—which now sports three yellow tomoe.
Thirdly, I was able to discover a couple of techniques for this eye, to my surprise… I certainly didn’t expect these!
Shiyasengan techniques:
1) Amaterasu
2) Kamui
3) Genjutsu
And these are just the ones I know… There have been no other innovations yet.
With Coton himself, I racked my brain for a long time about what to do with him. There are no techniques known to me, so I had to work with my sick imagination.
Carnage — Coton techniques:
1) Koton: Steel Demon Technique Koton: Suchiiruoni no Jutsu — Tentacles form steel armor around the user.
2) Koton: Electromagnetic Gun — Koton: Denji Gun — Using the back plates, the user forms them into a cannon. Its power is enough to destroy a rock into splinters. Strong recoil.
3) Koton: Sunset Shuriken — Koton: Sunset Shuriken — Using twelve plates, the user creates large six-star shurikens. By throwing them at the enemy, the user is able to control them — change the trajectory, speed, target. Requires Shiyasengan or Sharingan for accuracy.
4) Spiral Demon — Rasen Oni — Variation of the Rasengan. By combining a regular rasengan with the flames of Amaterasu, a sphere is created that, upon contact, is capable of burning the enemy. Requires Mangekyou Sharingan or Shiyasengan.
There may not be many new techniques from Carnage’s arsenal, but they are damn powerful. In addition to them, I learned other elements, but they are not as interesting as these.
Tokageryuchi then said that I have the power of Ōtsutsuki. That’s true. Hagoromo himself gave it to me. Can you call me a vessel? No. Can you call me Ōtsutsuki? Maybe… High level of training, large amount of chakra, strength — all indicate that I belong to the Ōtsutsuki clan. Me and Ootsutsuki… Yomayo… Where did I end up?
****
Tanomi was sitting on the edge of a high rock in the lotus position. Almost every corner of this world has been explored. Why almost? Because Agizo kept an eye on her, not allowing her to go where they weren’t asked… There were those who were interested in a person being in their world, but there were also those who had a negative attitude towards this. Khesurui was one of them. Be that as it may, no one went against the laws of Tokageryuchi-sama. Until this moment…
Agizo, noticing Tanomi meditating, approached her. Since her back was to him, he did not see that Masukaru was simply sitting and watching the rising sun. Early morning is a beautiful time.
Coming closer, he lay down next to her, fixing his gaze on the horizon.
- How long have you been here?
Tanomi looked at him without turning her head. At dawn, his scales seemed a darker shade. Play of light and shadows…
-Couple of hours…
Taking her eyes away from the play of sunlight on the reptile’s skin, she continued again at dawn…
-Did you just come or did something happen?
Agizo lifted his yellow eyes from the horizon and looked at her. An emotionless face with rays running across it, a lifeless look. It seemed as if someone had erased all her emotions. A mask of indifference? If so, then why does she need it?
Closing his eyes and taking a deep breath of cool air, Agizo rose from the ground and weightlessly ran the tip of his tail along her leg, thereby attracting her attention.
“Tokageryuchi-sama asked you to come.” He said he had a dream about you.
Tanomi turned to him half a turn. Do lizards dream? No, she wasn’t surprised. She was most likely surprised by the fact that she knew that their sage rarely dreamed of them.
-Dream? And you intrigued me…
Agizo grinned at her quick change of mood. Just a second ago she was indifferent to everything, but now with burning eyes she is ready to go, even to the ends of the world.
“I’ve studied you enough this year, Tanomi-chan.” Let’s go, let’s not keep him waiting…
Tanomi nodded in agreement. Agizo reminded her of Sasori — he also doesn’t like to keep others waiting. Standing up, Tanomi brushed off all the dirt. In high spirits, Masukaru caught up with him, and together they headed towards the Ryu no Inja Temple.
****
Tokageryuchi lazily looked at the entrance of his monastery. The years fly by unnoticed for him. It is already about a thousand years old. It’s time to retire… True, he cannot die a natural death, and there is no one to whom he will pass on his knowledge. Khesurui is self-serving—that’s not how a sage should be. Agizo? Agizo is not created for this role… Although he has the qualities that a leader should have, his excessive softness does not allow him to take such responsibility. Others are either not suitable at all, or are too selfish…
Noticing Tanomi and Agizo, Tokageryuchi noticeably perked up, which did not escape Hezuruya… He chuckled contemptuously at the sight of his opponent, and she glanced at the man. There was only one question in her head: When will she leave here?
Pretending that he did not notice her, Agizo bowed to Ryu no Inja.
“I brought her as requested, Tokageryuchi-sama.”
Although his face showed no emotion, he was grateful.
-Thank you, Agizo.
Turning his gaze to Masukara, Tokageryuchi looked at her with a piercing, studying gaze. She became stronger, he felt it…
-Long time no see, Tanomi. How are you doing in your studies?
Indeed, they had not seen each other since Shimizu returned back to the shinobi world. Only memories sometimes came to her.
-I’m glad to see you too. As for studying, everything is great!
Ryu no Inja looked at her with an eyebrow raised. Did she really master her ability that quickly?
-Is everything really that good?
Tanomi, throwing her arm back around her neck out of habit, smiled, causing Agizo to chuckle and Hezurui to snort. The girl really annoyed her…
“The snake doesn’t like my presence here from the very day I found out about it.”
“Yes, Tokageryuchi-sama.” Now I can return home…
She drawled the last phrase dreamily. Ryu no Inja nodded in agreement. She has nothing else to do here. She calmly controls her powers. She refused senjutsu — no one persuaded her. She only said that after some time she might decide, but not now.
“Yes, you can come back, but before that, I’ll tell you about the dream I saw last night.”
He paused for a moment, catching her interested gaze from her gray-green eyes with a yellow tint. Interesting color, whatever one may say.
-I saw the war, you fought against shinobi from different villages. But it wasn’t so much that surprised me in the dream as the appearance of strange people. They were all wearing black cloaks with red clouds. Among them was you, Tanomi. But I didn’t recognize you right away. You’ve changed a lot there… I also saw two people, although I wouldn’t call the second one… This man had the Rinnegan. What he said, alas, I don’t remember… But I can only say that you were somehow connected. I just don’t know how… The second one looked more like a black blot of ink. He was watching you. For what? I don’t know this, but I think in the future, if you meet him, you’ll find out…
Tanomi thought about Tokageryuchi’s words. “War… There is a second and a third ahead, and then I need to prevent a fourth. Madara and Zetsu—everything is ambiguous with them. Akatsuki… Nagato, Yahiko, Konan… soon they will create the first generation. Obito… How to make sure that he doesn’t fall under the rubble and that Rin doesn’t become the jinchuriki of Sanbi Isobu? We’ll have to really rack our brains… But the good news is that Kaguya’s Will will watch over us, which means there’s a chance for a different outcome.”
Ryu no Inja watched her reaction, as did the others. What kind of path did fate have in store for her? So many questions and few answers, as always…
But this silence was interrupted by a flying dragon, a type of lizard, that suddenly appeared in front of them. He looked tired and very worried.
“I’m sorry it’s so sudden, Tokageryuchi-sama, but we have a big problem!”
Ryu no Inja looked at him in surprise. Problems? What happened that you need to contact the Dragon Hermit?
-What happened, Tsuiseki?
-Sabanryu… He suddenly appeared and began to attack the valley.
Agizo and Hezurui frowned. They hadn’t heard anything about him for a long time… Tokageryuchi thought for a moment, but immediately shook his head negatively. This lizard is incorrigible…
-I’ll take care of it right away. Thanks for letting me know.
Having bowed, Tsuiseki quickly left, just as he had appeared.
Over the entire time she lived in this world, Tanomi understood that those names that end in “ryu” or “ryuchi” belong to dragons.
-Who is this Sabanryu? I’ve never heard of him.
—Sabanryu was banished from the valley for his antics.
Khesurui answered as she crawled past Tanomi towards the exit of the temple.
“Then he became very angry and swore that he would return and destroy the valley.
Agizo finished it for her. Apparently, this dragon did not please many people in some way.
-Why was he expelled?
-Tried to kill me. And that’s it. We need to hurry before it’s too late…
Tokageryuchi answered, putting an end to this conversation. The longer they delay, the worse things get in the valley.
Tanomi nodded in agreement and followed them into the valley. At least he’ll leave here on a great note, if that’s the case…
****
Tongues of flame spread across the once green-yellow grass. Black smoke rose up in clouds. The valley has almost turned into a dead wasteland. Neither people, nor animals… And in the middle of this house Sanbaryu stood majestically. He was slightly taller than Tokageryuchi. Black and gold scales, poisonous yellow eyes in which no pupil was visible. Huge four wings on the back, each of them had paws. His head looked like a helmet — smooth scales, closer to the back of the head along the cheekbones it diverged into growths in the form of horns — it seemed that it was a crown.
Tanomi, along with Hezurui, arrived earlier than the others. Agizo, who arrived a little later, climbed onto a small rock and began to examine the scale of the destruction. The valley was almost reduced to ashes. Tokageryuchi was the last to appear. With his gaze he quickly found his opponent.
-Long time no see, Sabanryu…
Hearing a familiar voice, he turned around. A grimace of anger, rage, anger bloomed on his face.
-Similarly, Tokageryuchi… I have been waiting for this moment for so many years. Now it’s time for revenge!
Taking off from his place, he quickly dived, his four wings and the aerodynamic structure of his skull doing their job, attacking Ryu no Inja. He was unable to escape from the sudden attack, the years were no longer the same… Unable to stand on his paws, he rolled head over heels down the mountainside along with the enemy. Sabanryu, taking advantage of his superiority, grabbed him with his sharp fangs and claws, leaving lacerations and deep scratches. Tokageryuchi tried to minimize the damage he received, but the enemy was stronger than him.
-After all these years, are you still angry with me?
-Be quiet! You said that the time would come and I would take your place! When it came, do you remember what you said then?!
-I said you’re not ready. You had too much hatred for others. You simply couldn’t become the next Dragon Sage…
Sabanryu, in a fit of anger, raked his claws along the left side of his muzzle. The claw cut the eye. Blood began to flow out of him like a river. Severe pain tore a scream, a roar from Ryu no Inja’s mouth…
-Hatred?! Hatred appeared on that day! I did everything as you told me — but that wasn’t enough for you!
Grabbing him by the throat, Sabanryu slammed his head into the ground. Tokageryuchi took heart-rending breaths, his grip was strong.
-I changed because of you… You chose me, you banished me… You broke my destiny… And now I will get what you prepared me for — by killing you!!!
Bright yellow lines appeared all over his neck, as if burning lava was oozing from his tough skin. The inside of the mouth glowed with a bright orange light as fire built up within it. Tokageryuchi tried to escape, but the years were taking their toll. Sabanryu was superior to him. The younger brother surpassed the older one… The difference between them was enormous — both in age and in strength… Noticing the burning fierce light in his brother’s eyes, he was ready to accept his fate. It’s high time for him to retire. It was high time for him to find a replacement. I wanted to entrust everything to my younger brother, but I made a monster out of him…
The strength has accumulated during this blow — now all his torment will end. He will become the next Ryuu no Inja. Did he want this before? No. The elder led him along this path. On the path of an outcast and an avenger…
-DIE!!!
****
…The trio turned sharply in the direction of Tokageryuchi-sama who had arrived. After exchanging a few phrases with each other, Sabanryu attacked at the speed of light. No one was able to notice how he approached so quickly. They rolled down the slope, away from their eyes. Tanomi decided to help him, but Hezurui wrapped her body around her, stopping her attempt to intervene.
-You are crazy?! They’ll kill you right away!
-Why are you suddenly worried about my life? You wanted to get rid of me all this time!
- This is completely different, girl! Tokageryuchi-sama must deal with him himself. After all, they are brothers…
She was able to discern a quiet, barely audible phrase in the noise. Tokageryuchi and Sabanryu are brothers… It reminded her of Itachi and Sasuke — one wants to kill the other… We need to stop this! Uchihas are one thing, but dragons are something else entirely!
Suddenly a heartbreaking scream was heard. Tanomi had no time to waste. Using Raiton no Yoroi, she escaped Hezuruya’s grasp. Using Shunshin, Masukaru found herself behind Sabanryu. He was preparing for the final blow. He needs to be stopped now!
“Die!!!” — came from his lips. Tanomi without hesitation used the technique that first came to her mind.
—Futon: Give Toppa!
A powerful gust of wind headed towards the dragon, taking the form of a tornado. Sabanryu felt something was behind him. He turned around and saw a wind current quickly approaching. Flapping his wings, he sent a response hurricane. The forces were almost equal. Both tornadoes merged into one large one and disappeared. A small girl appeared before his eyes, but not seeing anyone nearby, he realized that this stream of wind was hers. “An interesting little thing…” flashed through his head.
Proudly spreading his wings, he, looking arrogantly into her eyes, began to approach her. Tokageryuchi is weak and will not be able to stop them.
-Well, well… A man in my world. Yes, not simple, as I can see… And why are you stopping me from carrying out my revenge?
He asked, defiantly exhaling puffs of steam from his nose, like a bull. Tanomi felt out of place. Everything was boiling inside, but not from anger at him. No… It’s Berserk Mode — V has started to take over her personality. She was here by the way!
-Why am I interfering? I’m just breaking the plot!
She answered, causing him surprise. Wasn’t she afraid to look at him? This couldn’t happen! A man who imagines himself to be a god is not afraid to meet the dragon himself! Unheard of!
-Ha! And what plot are you breaking now?
-Little brother’s revenge…
She answered in a sepulchral voice, activating Carnage. Placing her hands in front of her in a cross, she made two blades from the hand plates. Each one was a meter in size at the front, and at the back there was a thirty-centimeter blade tip. Sabanryu released a stream of bright crimson flames from his mouth. He quickly approached her. Tanomi stood still and waited, just like in that battle with Gary. Waiting was what she knew best. When the flames were almost close, she poured a large amount of chakra into the blades. With one stroke she cut this stream into two parts. The fire passed on either side of her, heading straight towards the forest behind Tanomi. Sabanryu stopped breathing fire, noticing that she was not burned alive, he became extremely furious.
While he was distracted by the girl, Agizo and Hezurui quietly made their way straight to Tokageryuchi-sama. He was seriously injured…
-Tokageryuchi-sama!
They called out to him with one voice. Opening his eye, Ryu no Inja smiled faintly. Alive…
-Where is Sabanryu?
-Tanomi is fighting him now.
Agizo answered, catching his state of shock.
—Hezurui tried to stop her, but it didn’t work…
Turning over on his side, overcoming the pain throughout his body, Tokageryuchi struggled to his feet. The left rear one was badly damaged. Noticing Masukara, he rushed towards them.
…Sabanryu was furious. She blocked his flames. A flame that was comparable to lava itself!
Tanomi looked at him with her Shiyasengan. His chakra was comparable to that of a Bijuu — it seemed as if it wasn’t even used.
What will you do now? I did not test my ability for fire resistance. Now I see that I’m not afraid of fire, but I shouldn’t get carried away with it… To defeat it, I need the most powerful technology. Desirable short range…
Using the Koton technique: Suchiiruoni no jutsu shodai [ichi] no dan — now it will be effective against him — the black metal turned into the most durable armor. Outwardly, she resembled a Medieval warrior or a Roman gladiator. Also, having folded the seals, she used Chidori — this technique was best suited for killing.
-Well, Sabanryu… Let’s find out which of us is stronger?
Infuriated by such impudence, Sabanryu began to accumulate chakra for his most powerful fire technique. Tanomi began to approach him while there was a slight head start. A powerful stream of lightning came from her hand, raising dust and leaving behind a deep ditch. Tens of meters remained between them. Sabanryu used the Katon technique: Goka Messhitsu. There was very little time left before colliding with fire, but right now everything did not go as expected.
Tokageryuchi shielded Tanomi with himself, taking the full impact of the fire on himself. Masukaru was barely able to dodge an accidental collision with Ryu no Inja — even with the Shiyasengan it was difficult! At high speed, she still hit the target. The Chidori hit directly into his chest, leaving a hole through it. Sabanryu began to struggle in agony. He eventually fell to the ground, opposite his older brother.
Tanomi had her back to them. She feverishly inhaled air saturated with ash. She killed for the first time in her life… She was able to do it, not caring about her childish personality. V is her new life, her true face…
She was about to turn around, but a sudden pain in her left eye burst into hellish flames, causing tears to flow involuntarily. She muffled the scream inside herself, not allowing herself to make a sound. “Shiyasengan…” flashed through her head. Having activated the eye, she already felt changes in it, a certain power. At the same second, a wave passed from her that threw nearby stones to the sides. “Only one technique is capable of this… Really?!” — Tanomi quickly reached the water. Looking into her reflection, she saw a yellow and black Rinnegan, instead of a Shiyasengan. There were no changes in the right eye…
Remembering the dragons, Masukaru, with the help of Kamui, wanted to move, but it didn’t work. The Rinnegan prevented her from using this technique. Trying again, she was able to switch to the Shiyasengan and activate it.
…Sabanryu was dying, slowly and painfully. His older brother towered over him. His entire left side from his muzzle to his front paws was scorched by fire. There was no living place to be found. So many years have passed, and even now he is stronger than him…
Tokageryuchi tried not to show the pain, although it was very difficult, but he held on. With his right single eye, he noticed the funnel from which Tanomi appeared. From her expression, he saw that she was no longer the same as before… She became who she was in his dream. The same face, the same emotions — which are hidden from everyone. As soon as she turned off her ability, Ryu no Inja was surprised…no…shocked! “Rinnegan?!” — he mentally exclaimed.
“I didn’t think that, among other things, you could awaken the Rinnegan…
Tanomi didn’t even pay attention to this remark. She simply looked at the dying man. Hopelessness… That’s what she saw in his eyes. Moving a little closer to him, Masukaru knelt down on one knee in front of him.
-And what were you trying to achieve?
She asked looking him in the eye.
-Paid back?
-Have you decided to mock me before you die, girl?
He croaked. A little more and he will die.
“I spent years trying to kill my brother, and then suddenly you appeared… and ruined all my plans.” Why did you come here?
-You two remind me of a couple of brothers. The eldest then, too, plunged his brother into darkness, and the younger lived, dreaming of killing him. As a result, the elder allowed himself to be killed, thereby giving him strength. You have a similar case…
Sabanryu looked at her, trying to understand what she was driving at. Tokageryuchi, too, did not understand what she wanted to say, but he began to grasp the essence.
-Tanomi, you can leave us…
She didn’t argue, but simply walked away with a shunshin. Tokageryuchi came closer to him.
-I think I understood what she wanted to say…
-And what? Dedicate your little brother…
—That’s enough, Sabanryu. Let me tell you. I’ve been waiting for almost two hundred years for you to come for me. And this day has come. It’s time to connect the dots, brother…
…Tanomi found herself next to the temple. Agizo was there, Hezuruya was not in sight. Noticing his “student”, he quickly approached her.
“I didn’t expect to see you alive.” This is no longer the case…
He stopped mid-sentence when he saw her eye.
-Where did you get the Rinnegan?!
-I hit Sabanryu Chidori and now he is dying. Tokageryuchi-sama stayed with him.
She turned to the place where she had parted with her brothers.
-They have something to talk about… Well, it’s time for me to go back.
Agizo nodded in agreement. It’s not her concern. They themselves must solve this problem. Tanomi has done her job and can now return home.
—Say hello to Hesurui and my apologies for Raiton no Yoroi.
That was the last thing she said before she disappeared with Reverse Summon.
****
Magitawa was sitting under a tree, taking a break from a little training. He often followed Tanomi and that’s how he learned about this place. Four months have passed since she was sent to her father’s conscript world. When she returns? Students often asked this question, and he himself…
Suddenly, a small bang was heard in front of him, from which white smoke came out. Kanoku was ready to attack, but when he noticed who it was, he put away the kunai.
-Tanomi?!
He said not believing his eyes, approaching her.
-I didn’t expect to meet you! What’s wrong with your eye?
- Hello, sensei! This is the Rinnegan. Long time no see… How long have I been away from here?
-Four months…
He answered with sadness in his voice. This was not lost on her.
-Something happened?
Kanoku-sensei lowered his gaze. This news… How will she take it? And he himself had difficulty accepting it.
-I’m sorry…
Tanomi raised an eyebrow, not understanding what he was talking about.
-Your parents died… three months ago.
Tanomi was in shock prostration. She completely abstracted herself from this world. They died, and she didn’t even know about it… she couldn’t even save them, couldn’t say goodbye to them… First, she saved Tokageryuchi by receiving the Rinnegan. Now the news about the death of my parents… Too many events in this short period of time.
Kanoku said something, but noticing her state, he stopped talking into the void. She didn’t hear him, unless she saw him… Gently touching her shoulder, she returned back to reality. The eyes are full of sadness, regret and hatred — that’s what he saw in them.
Now she won’t be the cheerful little girl he knew. Now everything will be different…
