Morning. Rays of light illuminated Marinette's room.
— Marinette, sweetheart, you need to get ready for school, — Sabine said.
— Just give me 5 more minutes, please," Marinette replied sleepily.
— Marinette, if you don't go to school now, you'll be late on the first day! — Sabine reprimanded.
— Okay, I'm going, — Marinette said, getting out of bed.
— Hurry up, or your croissants will get cold, — Sabine said, closing the door and heading to the kitchen.
— Marinette, why do you look so tired? — Tikki inquired.
— Just didn't get enough sleep, — Marinette replied wearily.
— I see. Well, I'll go to the kitchen, otherwise, mom will worry about where I am, — Marinette chuckled.
— Then bring me some chocolate cookies, please.
— Okay, I will, — Marinette said.
She ate her breakfast and went to school. On her way, she didn't see any of her friends. She arrived at the school and saw Alya.
— Hey, Alya! — Marinette said, running towards her and giving her a hug.
— Hey, friend! — Alya replied.
— How was your summer in Mexico?
— It was great! Too bad we were only there for 4 weeks and you, Nino, and your «friend» Adrien weren't there, — Alya laughed.
— Alya! We're just friends, period, — Marinette said, not even believing herself.
— Sure, sure! Look, Adrien is coming, — Alya said, pointing somewhere on the road.
— Where? Alya, how do I look? — Marinette asked, looking in the mirror and fixing her hair.
— I was joking, but you look perfect! — Alya said, looking at her friend.
— Alya, I don't have time for your jokes! — Marinette snapped.
— Alright, let's go to class, — Alya said.
— Let's go, — Marinette said, taking Alya's hand.
All the classes ended.
— Marinette, let's walk together. I'll escort you home, — Alya said.
— Okay! — Marinette said.
Marinette and Alya left the school.
— Alya, do you know why Adrien wasn't at school today? — Marinette asked.
— I don't know, — Alya said, thinking, then added, — Maybe he's just sick?
— Maybe. Should we call him? — Marinette suggested.
— Let's do it.
Alya called Adrien, but he didn't answer. They waited for another minute and heard the response: "The subscriber is unavailable!"
— Great! He didn't answer. And then he'll call you and ask why you called. What if he realizes that I'm in love? What if he's listening to us right now? What if he's watching us? Then we'll never be together. He'll find someone else, and I'll be alone. FOREVER! — Marinette said, tears streaming down her cheeks.
— Marinette, don't talk nonsense! He'll just come to school tomorrow, ask why we called, and tell us the reason why he couldn't answer. THAT'S ALL! — Alya said, trying to calm her friend.
Marinette smiled, and they had already arrived at the bakery.
— Goodbye, Alya! — Marinette approached Alya and hugged her tightly.
— Goodbye, Marinette! — Alya said, detaching herself from her friend's embrace.
Marinette went to her room.
— Tikki, do you think you know why Adrien wasn't at school? — Marinette asked.
— I don't know. Maybe you can just call him? — Tikki said, looking at her owner.
— I'm scared, — Marinette said, fiddling with her phone.
— Don't be afraid! — Tikki said, trying to reassure her.
— Okay, fine. Besides, I'm calling him as a friend, I'm worried about him, — Marinette said, and dialing his number, she called him.
— The phone is ringing, I'm scared, — Marinette said.
— Hello! — Adrian said.
— Hey! How's it going? Why weren't you at school? Will you come tomorrow? — Marinette quickly blurted out.
— I'm fine. I was shooting for a project. Yes, I'll come to school tomorrow. How are you? — Adrian replied.
— I'm... um... great! Okay, I won't distract you for long. Bye, — Marinette said.
— Goodbye, Marinette, — Adrian said.
Marinette hung up.
— Great. He'll come to school tomorrow! — Marinette said with a pleased expression.
— He's just a friend, right? — Tikki asked, looking at her owner, practically glowing with happiness.
— I don't even know myself... — Marinette said.
— Maybe you should confess to him? — Tikki suggested.
— I'll try... — Marinette mumbled.
POV Adrian
— Bye, Marinette, — said Adrian, while Plagg was already eating 3 pieces of Camembert.
— Plagg, maybe enough to eat? — Adrian said, looking at this insatiable creature.
— No, if you got a pet, you have to feed him! — Plagg said, eating a delicious Camembert.
— You eat too much, too much... — the guy chuckled.
— You eat no less, - Plagg snorted.
— I'm a human. And you're kwami! - said Adrian, looking at this restless creature.
— So what? I'm magical and unusual. And you're just ordinary, — said Kwami.
The dispute between Plagg and Adrian was broken by Natalie, who knocked and entered the room.
— Adrian, you have fencing, didn't you forget? - Natalie said.
— No, I didn't forget, — Adrian said. Putting on his bag, he left the room.
— Bye, Adrian said Natalie.
— Bye, Natalie, - said Adrian.
Marinette, with a sleepy voice, murmured:
— Can I sleep for another five minutes, please?
Rolling over to her other side, she tried to hold on to those precious moments of rest.
—No, you'll be late if you do that! spoke Tikki sternly. Marinette reluctantly opened her eyes and greeted Tikki:
— Good morning, Tikki!
Tikki circled around her, replying:
— Good morning, Marinette!
Marinette stretched and went to grab some breakfast. She took a cookie for Tikki and left the house.
— Marinette, can I have the cookie?
Tikki asked softly. Marinette handed over the cookie to Tikki, who quickly gobbled it up while they headed towards the lyceum. As they approached, Marinette's friend, Alya, greeted her with a cheerful:
— Hi, friend!
Marinette replied:
— Hi! How are you?
Alya responded:
— Great, how about you?
Marinette mumbled:
— Same.
Alya took Marinette's hand, and they walked into the lyceum together, eventually arriving at their classroom.
— Hello, Marinette! — a male voice called out. It was Adrian.
Marinette nervously replied:
— Hi...uh, let's sit together, if you don't mind.
Adrian assuredly took her hand and said:
— Sure, let's.
All the classes went by, and during the break, they made plans to go to a café together.
— Okay, I'll change and come back to you guys, — said Marinette.
They bid her goodbye, and Marinette hurried home. Once at home, she struggled to choose her outfit for the café. Should she wear a dress, or perhaps jeans with a white top? Maybe a black top with a white tennis skirt? She tried on each outfit, examining herself in the mirror, but nothing felt right.
— Marienette, wear the white top and white tennis skirt, — advised Tikki, observing her owner's wardrobe struggle.
Marinette asked:
— Do you think it'll suit me? and Tikki replied, — Yes!
Marinette hesitated
— I just want to confess my love to Adrian...but I'm unsure if I should. What if he rejects me?
Her voice carried a tinge of sadness.
— Marinette, he won't reject you. Everything will be fine! — comforted Tikki, trying to reassure her owner.
— Do you really think so? — asked Marinette.
I am more than certain that your feelings are mutual, — declared Tikki.
Marinette made up her mind, saying:
— Alright, I'll get dressed and go outside.
Marinette got dressed and left the bakery. Her friends were waiting for her there, ready to embark on their café adventure.
