Sometimes

Bright and carefree, sometimes it seems,
Just like a child, but with serious dreams.
Irrevocably, like a whip's sting,
Yet later, tearfully, we cling.
Happiness we find, at times,
Only to lose it, like fleeting rhymes.
Perhaps, at times, we lose our way,
Love, of course, has its own say.
Years may smolder in the blink of an eye,
Or shatter destinies, leaving us awry.
We stumble and lose our face,
Forgetting, in the haze, life's grace.
Easily, we may choose to change course,
Driven by fleeting desire's force.
Sometimes, with a foolish word, we kill,
Though afterward, all seems unclear and still.
At times, we're the architects of our own strife,
Destroying loved ones in the name of life.
We convince ourselves we've forgotten, in vain,
Before truth, we often refrain.
