Imagine that you were Hayden Romero's girlfriend. Theo Raeken turned her into a chimera, but her body rejected the transformation.

"Breathe, honey," you knelt down next to Hayden, kissing her on the forehead. "I'm right here if there's anything I can do to help you."
Hayden shook her head, coughing up black blood. She put one of her hands to her mouth, and with the other she found your hand and squeezed it tightly.
"Okay," you whispered. "I won't leave you," you kissed her on the forehead.
Hayden's lips curved into a faint smile. You pulled her to you, sat her down comfortably, so that she leaned on you with her back. You kissed her hair.
"You're going to be okay, honey," you whispered softly, stroking her hair.
Hayden settled her head on your shoulder and sighed softly, immediately coughing. Black blood flowed from her mouth and nose, at first a little, and then more and more. You gently rubbed her back and gently wiped away the trickles of blood, but it continued to flow down her face.
"I've got you. You're safe," you whispered softly. "It's okay, you can rest, honey".
Hayden nodded her head weakly, settled her head more comfortably on your shoulder and closed her eyes.
When her breathing first became ragged, and then completely subsided, you did not move, just held her closer to you, kissing her hair.
"Sleep well, honey," you whispered, even though your heart was breaking.
