Jungkook doesn't know why he started live broadcasting out of the blue. Maybe it has something to do with the fact that he's completely drunk. The comments section is blurry, but he can still read concerned messages from fans telling him to go to bed.
“I’m not going to bed just yet,” he mutters half consciously and clutches a glass full of beer. He sighs, rests his head on his hand and looks tiredly at the screen. Jeon doesn't even know what made him start drinking today. Maybe it's stress, maybe he's still very worried about Yoongi hyung's call, he doesn't know. Now he has a headache and the room is shaking. Still, he blinks and sits up, trying to stay awake. He doesn't want to fall asleep during the broadcast. He should probably finish and go to bed, the way his fans advise him to do. But he doesn't want to be alone again. Fans' comments calm him down and keep him sane. Jungkook takes another sip of the strong liquid from his cup, even though he already feels nauseous.
"You know... you guys make me feel s-so happy,” Jungkook slurs, stumbling over his words, and starts giggling at himself. Fans in the comments section laugh along with him for a few minutes until they return to their concerns about the drunk and sleepy maknae.
"No, I’m not g-going to sleep,” Jungkook whines, fiddling with the handle of his cup.
“I said... hic... that I'm not going to go to sleep...” He's starting feeling worse, he knows it, but he can't stop. God, he's so tired.
“I wish I could fall asleep and not wake up.” He hums softly, smiling because of the thought that his eyelids get heavier and heavier. His grip on the cup loosens as he sniffles, yawns, and drops back onto his hand. He thinks about how he'll get in trouble with his manager for going live without any permission, just to fall back into a drunken stupor. Even none of the hyungs know that he is broadcasting. After all, it's already 10 pm. Namjoon hyung is probably on the phone with his manager or writing lyrics for a new song, Jimin hyung is probably at Yoongi hyung's house, saying goodbye.
Jungkook forces himself to open his eyes and blinks at the shaking screen. Everyone still tells him to go to bed. He groans, leans back on the couch and thinks about the rest of his hyungs and what they might be doing.
Taehyung.
Taehyung was not at home. Jungkook knew this. His younger hyung went shopping late at night. Jungkook missed him. Jeon missed him terribly. More than he would ever admit to his fans. At least for now. Maybe someday he'll tell them. Tell them how much he misses Taehyung when they're apart. How much his heart hurts. It's worse than the headache, which he's having now. Jungkook pinches the bridge of his nose and breathes raggedly. The comments seem to explode with concern. It's overwhelming. Words begin to swim in front of his eyes. Jungkook blinks once, then twice. It doesn't help. Feels like he's going to pass out.
“Okay guys. I’ll follow your advice,” he drawls and reaches for the record button. But not even half the way has been passed when the darkness shrouded him and he fell asleep right away. Thirty minutes later, half the audience leaved, having bid a loving farewell to the sleeping boy. But some fans chose to stay, admiring the peaceful face. And since they remain, they are the only ones who witness the next hours.
An hour later, Jungkook is still unconscious on the couch. There is the sound of a door opening, the rustling of bags and the jingling of keys. Somewhere in the apartment the light turns on, and a familiar shadow appears at the main entrance. Even in the dark, it is clear that this is none other than Kim Taehyung.
“Jungkook. I’m home,” says Kim. He takes off his shoes before walking into the dark kitchen with bags of groceries. “Sorry I'm so late. Met some friends on the way.” But he gets no responce from Jungkook. Taehyung glances towards the living room. However, he doesn't notice the live broadcast either the group of fans watching him in stunned silence.
“Gook-ie?” He calls hesitantly, puts the packages on the counter and approaches the sofa. Seeing that the younger one is fast asleep, Kim looks perked up before noticing a mug of beer next to the couch. He sighs, still not noticing the broadcast. “Kook, baby? How many times have I told you not to drink this much? It’s not healthy,” Kim mutters before leaning in. Then he's shocking the watching fans by giving a gentle kiss to Jungkook's cheek. Jungkook whines in his sleep and pouts. Taehyung smiles and walks over to the other side of the couch where Jungkook is sleeping. Only then does he notice the camera. He stops abruptly when his gaze falls on the bright screen. The comments also abruptly stop, and fans wait with bated breath to see what Taehyung will do now. Taehyung stares at the camera for a moment before he starts to hastily looking around, trying to decide if he can do anything at all right now. Finally, he walks over to the place where Jungkook is lying and gently lifts him up.
“Taehyung-i-i-ie, I missed you...”
Taehyung glances quickly at the camera again when Jungkook whispers Kim's name and burrows his face in Tae's shirt. After a moment of silence, Kim carries the younger one out of the room. He returns a few minutes later and just stands there, staring at the screen. He looks scared but relived at the same time. However, none of the fans really know why. Finally the guy is starting to speak and moving his face closer to the camera.
“Sorry guys. I promise to try to explain everything to you tomorrow. I'm really sorry.” He turns off the live, leaving fans shocked by the thing they just witnessed.
Jungkook wakes up with a terrible headache and a hangover. He's hot, sweaty, and feels like he's about to throw up. He does it anyway a few minutes later, rushing to the bathroom. The phone is on the nightstand and he reaches out for grabbing it. His hand fumbles for a second before it feels the device. The screen turns up with hundreds of notifications from his hyungs, his family, and his manager. Being confused, Jungkook opens his messages. His unsteady stomach clenches. Jeon leans over the toilet and vomits again before returning to the phone in the pure horror. The first message he reads was from Jimin:
Chim: Jungkookie! What happened?! It's all over the news!
Chim: Gukki? Are you awake?!
Chim: I think you have big problems, Kook...
Chim: Jungkook? ANSWER ME!!
Jungkook reads the message from his manager:
Manager: Jungkook. WHAT THE HELL HAVE YOU DONE?! WHAT WERE YOU THINKING?!
Then his mom:
Mom: Jungkook. Please explain. What's happening? I need you to talk to me. This is your fan service again, right? Was it all planned? Do you live together? Please. I just want to help you and be there for you.
No matter how loving his mom's message was, it was the one that made Jungkook's blood run cold. He quickly scans the news and starts being even more horrified to see yesterday's live broadcast as the top story. Jungkook realizes that he doesn’t even remember how he turned off the broadcast. He frantically searches for it and watches it completely. His heart skips a beat when he sees Taehyung appearing. Jungkook slams his phone onto the counter, feeling his stomach tighten again, so he turns back to throw up for the third time. He's suddenly afraid to face Taehyung so he waits a full ten minutes. He decides to go back to the bedroom just to find the bed empty. Jungkook runs out into the living room in a panic. It's also empty. He ruined everything, and it caused a trouble not only for him, but also for Taehyung. He stumbles back to the bedroom. He makes it without crashing into anything, which he finds impressive, although the room is still tilted. Jungkook curls up into a tight ball on the sheets. After a moment of internal panic he wonders what he should do. He is overcome with guilt and grief. Jungkook starts crying, not only because of how miserable he feels after the hangover, but mostly because of his mistake, which will get Taehyung in trouble. It's all his fault. It's his fault. He curls up tighter, his body shaking with sobs. He isolates himself from everything around him. Jungkook doesn’t even hear the sound of the front door slamming either the sound of footsteps. He doesn't bother to move when the familiar voice calls his name, but when he feels a hand on his shoulder, he jumps up from the pillows and looks into the face of a very worried Taehyung. It takes Jungkook's still foggy mind a moment to throw himself into the elder's arms without hesitation, crying even more than before.
“Hyung, I’m sorry, I’m so sorry!” Jungkook sobs into Taehyung’s shoulder, hoping that the elder one doesn’t completely hate him. Jeon's surprised that Kim doesn't push him away. Instead, the elder hugs him tighter, sits him down on the lap and covering his forehead with kisses.
“It's okay, Gook-ie. Everything is fine. It’s okay,” Taehyung mutters quietly. But this is not normal for Jungkook. Honestly, he just doesn't understand why Kim is even here. Jungkook ruined everything, jeopardized their careers.
“No! It is not normal! I ruined everything! Everyone hates us now. Our families, friends, fans...”
“Jungkookie, I'm more worried about how you feel after drinking so much. I brought some medicine”, Taehyung reassures.
“Don’t you hate me? We're both in the complete shit right now because of me, Tae. It’s my fault!” Jungkook continues, pulling away, wiping his tears with the back of his hand and completely ignoring everything Taehyung just said.
“Why should I hate you? Yes, you were wrong, but it cannot affect my attitude towards you in any way. Everyone makes mistakes, Gook-ie. I love you and I don’t care if we have problems, the main thing is that we are together and we will solve all the issues together too.” Kim protests, pulling Jungkook into another comforting hug, running a hand through the younger's hair.
“But...” Jungkook starts, but Taehyung calms him down with a sudden kiss, followed by another tight hug.
“We’ll get through this, and one tiny mistake won’t make me stop loving you. About family, fans and friends,” Taehyung raises his head, looking into his eyes, “Our family always says that they love us. Friends and fans say the same thing. If our secret surfaced and pushed them away from us only because our relationship does not fit in with their concepts, that’s not how they love us, agree?” Taehyung whispers, cupping the younger’s face with his hands and pulling him in for another sweet kiss. Jungkook accepts the kiss and returns it, wrapping his arms around Kim's neck and enjoying the feeling of Tae's lips on his. He pulls away after a minute, finally feeling calmer.
“You and I are the world stars, Jungkook, we definitely won’t be out of work,” Kim laughs, trying to brighten up the situation, “So that was fate, I’m happy and I’ll be proud of us. Imagine now that we don't have to hide in public places. I'm sure some of our fans will appreciate this and be happy for us.”
