The Lantern

Settings
In a city where the sky is almost always hidden by a veil of gray clouds, there was a small flashlight standing in the corner of a forgotten street. His light was like a twinkling star in the darkness, despite the fact that his fire was constantly trying to escape, being lost by the wind, which unobtrusively ran along the deserted path. The flashlight was like a guardian of evening peace, looking at the street where children's voices and light footsteps once sounded. Now its light illuminated only lonely lawns, covered with sadness, as if tears had fallen from the sky. He flickered, as if trying to attract the attention of passers-by, but fleetness was his share. Everything around was like a lost dream, and only the flashlight kept its light to remind that once there was life here. One evening, when the shadow absorbed the last ray of light, the flashlight lit up especially brightly. It was as if he was opening his soul, pouring years of invisible nostalgia into his light. The wind whispered softly in his glass stove, as if awakening old memories forgotten by the townspeople. That evening, an old man appeared under the flashlight, looking into the distance, as if trying to discern the shadows of bygone times. He smiled, remembering the moments of happiness when it was still warm and bright here. The old man lingered, as if trying to capture this moment in his memory. The flashlight, as if knowing that its light warms the souls of forgotten memories, flickered for the last time before the darkness completely absorbed its light. He was leaving, leaving behind only a pale reflection on the path and a light breeze, like a last goodbye. So the flashlight became a witness to the passing of time, a candle in the dark, a reminder of the past, which now exists only in the reflections of light, flickering in the fog of memories.
