Chapter 1: I’m Not Going To Be The Backup Player

Text settings
Nothing bad is supposed to happen to the tall beauty with long, thick golden hair and blue eyes named Natalia today. The girl is sitting at home alone, while her parents – Anthony and Letitia – went somewhere for work. The girl is spending time in her room and checking something on her laptop with a big screen. The girl’s gaze is focused on something interesting and running over the content of websites she visits, a slight smile shows up on her face at times, and her hands are folded in front of her.       After checking some pages on the Internet and texting some friends on social networks, Natalia closes the browser, lowers the back of the laptop, gets up slowly from the office chair, and goes to the window. Since there is the view of the popular part of the street in her room, the girl sees transports driving on the road, and people of different ages going on asphalt paths all alone or with someone. With lots of packets or nothing, with phones and tablets in their hands… On bikes, on scooters, or on feet… And somewhere far from here, it’s possible to see bright posters of movies, concerts, or commercials.       At some moment, Natalia opens the window and immediately feels the warm but cold wind nicely caressing her face, gets into the room and spreads over it slowly. While hanging strands of the girl that get out of her big head of hair on the top of her head slightly blow on the slight wind. Which also blows her short crème satin robe with a bow on her slim waist as a belt. She thinks of something nice that makes her smile much wider for a few seconds. After standing a little, Natalia decides to leave the window open and go to the kitchen to find something to eat and make her mood better by watching a good movie.       But when the girl reaches the doorstep that connects the living room, the kitchen, and the toilet, two sudden rings on the doorbell ring. She is surprised because her parents promised to go back later, and she already met her friends. After hesitating a little, Natalia goes quickly to open the door, while someone rings the doorbell too hard several times. And the girl gets very surprised when she sees the tall, slim, black-haired man with gray eyes, who seems gloomy and looks at her kind of tensely.       “Oh, Edward…” Natalia pronounces hesitantly with a slight smile. “Hi… I… Didn’t expect you… I thought you were busy…”       “I am not,” Edward throws coldly with his arms crossed over his chest.       “Although you could warn me that you’d love to come, I’m glad to see you.”       When Natalia takes one step forward to greet Edward with a hug and a kiss on the cheek, he sharply steps back.       “Unlike you, I am not on the positive wave,” Edward says in a low voice. “And do not dare to touch me! Even with a finger!”       “My gosh, sweetie…” Natalia shakes her head, rounding opening her eyes, and staring at Edward surprisingly. “What are you talking about? What did I do?”       “I do want to find it out. You and I have to talk very seriously.” Edward glances at a person, who goes by Natalia’s apartment. “Well? May I come in? Or will we sort out our relationship on the doorstep? So, all your neighbors know what you did!”       “Erm… Well… Yes, sure… Come in…”       Natalia slowly, hesitantly steps back from the doorstep and lets Edward in the apartment. The man slightly pushes the girl aside and enters confidently, still keeping his arms crossed over his chest, frowning strongly and looking like he is ready to start a big scandal. And while the discouraged blonde locks the door, she gets very nervous and wonders why Edward is acting like his sweetheart is his number one enemy.       “What’s wrong, Edward?” Natalia wonders, coming to Edward, who came to the living room. “Why are you acting like I’m your biggest enemy.”       “You better sit on the sofa,” Edward demands coldly, glancing at the sofa.       “But why? Something horrible happened? Why are you commanding?”       “Don’t ask stupid questions, and do what I say!”       “But, honey…”       “Do not make me wild, Natalia. SIT DOWN NOW!”       Because Edward raised his voice for the first time, Natalia shakes strongly and sits immediately on the sofa, setting her dumbfounded gaze on the man, swallowing up nervously and literally being afraid to move. While MacClife himself sits down in front of her with his head raised.       “Edward, please, don’t scare me,” Natalia begs hesitantly, nervously shaking her leg and fingering over. “You don’t look like yourself. You were always so shy and literally afraid to walk here!”       “Got used!” Edward throws rudely and insolently. “I did it very well!”       “Listen, let’s not quarrel because of nothing and quietly talk about everything.”       “Huh!” Edward smirks loudly, looking at Natalia with contempt in his eyes. “If you expect a nice talk, you can put your hopes in your ass.”       “But what happened? What’s my fault for you?”       “You dare to ask me! YOU DARE TO ASK! You know everything well, my dear!”       “Erm…” Natalia gets confused, starting to breathe heavily. “Excuse me, but… I don’t know what…”       “You do understand everything!” Edward says loudly and irritably. “Stop pretending to be an innocent lamb and lying that you don’t know which sins you committed!”       “You aren’t yourself, Edward. Please, calm down. You don’t…”       “You know, I think I have told you many times that I cannot take people, who lie to me. I clearly let you know that I would not forgive someone to go against me and insolently lie to me.”       “Yes, I know… But why…”       “Close your mouth!” Edward stops sharply and clenches one of his hands into a fist tightly. “How long were you proving that you hid nothing from me and loved me with all my heart?”       “I’ve never lied to you. I’ve always been honest with you.”       “No, my dear, you lied to me. You’ve been doing it from the beginning, when we started to date. You were afraid I would know the truth and tried to hide it so hard.”       “Gosh, what are you talking about?” Natalia asks, setting her dumbfounded eyes on Edward and getting more nervous. “Why do you call me a liar?”       “Don’t make me furious, fucking false bitch!” Edward throws loudly and irritably, waving a hand sharply. “This trick will no longer work for me. Now I know what a false scumbag you really are.”       “You’re hurting me, Edward,” Natalia says with pity in her eyes. “Why do you treat me like this? What did I do? Did you start to doubt that I loved you?”       “Yes, I doubt! And I don’t know if I should keep dating you after what I had to find out.”       “Honey, please…”       “What a bitch you are… A false shameless bitch, who is not afraid to look into people’s eyes and insolently lie, pretending to be an innocent lamb for someone to pity the poor unhappy girl.”       “Please, stop saying such horrible things!” Natalia begs, feeling tears coming to her tears. “I didn’t deserve to be treated like this!”       “Didn’t deserve?” Edward wonders, staring at Natalia. “Didn’t you deserve to be surrounded by so many people, who you probably had wrapped around your finger? How do you dare to act as if nothing is happening and pretend to be holy!”       “Edward, please, explain clearly, what’s going on!” Natalia says with pity in her eyes. “Why do you doubt my feelings and believe I lied to you? I… I’ve never lied to you. If I said I loved you, it’s true.”       “Never lied? Never lied? NEVER THE FUCK LIED? HOW DO YOU ACTUALLY DARE TO SAY IT?”       “Don’t scream, please,” Natalia replies quietly, gesticulating softly. “I don’t know which sins you insult me for, but don’t scream so loudly.”       “I WILL BE SCREAMING! SO, EVERYONE HERE KNOWS YOU DID A MEAN THING TO ME!” Edward glances aside for a moment, breathing heavily from great excitement. “KNOWS THAT YOU ARE A LIAR!”       “What? Am I a liar?” Natalia gets up sharply from the sofa, falling into a stupor after what she heard. “Edward! How did you get these thoughts? What are you talking about?”       “It’s not bullshit, baby, it’s what people call a betrayer. The proof of which I got two hours ago.”       “Are you insane, MacClife?” Natalia wonders a little irritably, making a circular motion with the index finger near her temple. “How do you dare to go to my home, scream at me like a hysterical girl and blame me for luong?”       “Don’t pretend that you know nothing, Rochester!” Edward sharply gets up from the sofa and sets his contemptuous gaze on Natalia, clenching his hands tightly into fists. “I’m well aware of all your adventures! I KNOW WHAT YOU DID SECRETLY FROM ME!”       “Your charges are crazy,” Natalia throws coldly.       “You’re a bitch… A nasty, false scumbag, who pretends to be good.”       “Listen, Edward…”       “How could you do this to me? I did everything for you, but you, bitch, turned your ass on me and thanked me in this way! Used me! You played with me like a kitten and then kicked me out!”       “Ha, did I use you?” Natalia wonders with wet, widely open eyes. “Did you go insane, idiot?”       “So, you thought I wouldn’t find it out? You’d keep having me around your finger, coming to me when nobody’s around and leaving me when you’re sick of me? No, dear, you will no longer play the fool with me! I’m not going to be the backup player.”       “Let me ask, who made you think of such a stupid thing?” Natalia crosses her arms over her chest. “What pal of yours gave you a reason to doubt my loyalty to you?”       “It would have been great if one of your lovers had opened my eyes to what a disgusting bitch you were earlier!” Edward yells irritably. “Damn, I can’t believe you’re a fucking betrayer! The asshole, for whom what she is doing is fine!”       “Am I a betrayer?”       “NOT ME! I DO NOT WALK NAKED IN FRONT OF SOME UGLY MEN, HUG AND KISS THEM!”       “I didn’t walk naked in front of ANYONE! NEVER!”       “COME ON!” Edward sharply claps on the back of the sofa with a hand. “DO NOT LIE TO ME, WENCH! I SAW EVERYTHING WITH MY EYES!”       “Listen, you, brainless cretin…” Natalia explodes and comes closer to Edward, threatening him with a finger and setting her gaze full of hate on him. “How do you dare to go to my home and ATTACK ME WITH THESE CHARGES? IF YOU DON’T WANT EVERYTHING TO GET WORSE, GET OUT OF HERE!”       “You are mad…” Edward simpers. “Trying to hide the truth… The truth about fucking another man, being in A RELATIONSHIP WITH ME! You were pretending to be an innocent lamb and insolently lying, but you turned out to be a dirty wench.”       “Stop insulting me at my home! Or I will tell the security not to let you get closer to this building. If you went insane, you better get out to restore your nerves!”       “Do you want me to show you the proof of your betrayal?” Edward asks coldly, crossing his arms over his chest.       “It would be great if you were able not only to work your tongue!” Natalia replies rudely, also crossing her arms over her chest. “But you can’t prove that I fucked someone!”       “Alright, you will see the proof right now!”       Two seconds later, Edward takes a white envelope from the inside pocket of his coat and throws it at Natalia’s face with disgust.       “ENJOY, HONEY!” Edward screams. “And don’t tell me I speak for nothing and try to slander you!”       Natalia silently takes the envelope that Edward throws at her face, and opens it, being terribly nervous because she may see anything. Something tells her the envelope might have something that could slander the girl for her boyfriend. And what Natalia sees makes her fall on the sofa with wet, widely open eyes. Her legs sharply get weak, and she feels slight dizziness and understands that her heart starts beating much faster, and her body shakes from the frost and goosebumps.
