Should've thought about it a bit longer

Right now, both of them were fascinated by the event they had been invited to. Toto by its grandeur and sheer magnitude, and also by the amount of people, enjoying themselves here and there, dancing to the smooth and elegant music, and eating all kinds of delicacies from the buffet. Ron, for his part, was fascinated as well, however, by Isshiki's behavior, who was looking around with his bright silver eyes almost widened to the size of plates. Funny, indeed, because as far as the detective understood, the officer was attending events like these with relatives from time to time. But as it seemed, he had been wrong.
Toto headed to the nearest table, grabbed some small appetizer from it and let his gaze wander off to the people dancing nearby, whose movements almost seemed to cast a spell on him, making him unconsciously want to dance with somebody as well. This was immediately noticed by Kamonohashi, so the latter shortened the already small distance between them, leaned towards Toto's ear, burning it with his hot breath, and whispered: "If you want to dance, I hereby invite you to dance with me." Having said this, he stepped away a bit with a mischievous smile on his lips, and stretched out his hand towards the startled officer, whose cheeks had slowly started to turn red. Since Ron didn't want to wait too long for an answer, he, seeing that the other wasn't putting up any resistance, took Toto by the hand and led him to the center of the hall, where the other guests were amusing themselves, without paying the slightest attention to them.
A mere second was enough to make Toto realize that the detective had already turned him around, so they were now facing each other, and put his hands on his waist, like it was usually done during a dance with a woman. Furiously blushing at this thought and also from the other's actions, the officer shyly placed his hand on Ron's shoulder. It didn't feel very pleasant for him, since, after all, the other was taller, which resulted in a little discomfort for them both.
He should have thought about it a bit longer, but his pondering got interrupted as the dance began. At first, Toto thought he would die from embarrassment right here and there, especially if someone were to see them, but as soon as his mind and feet got carried away by the easy melody, everything around them suddenly seemed to have vanished, leaving only him and Ron in that hall. Too busy with their dance to care about others or the activities around them.
One, two, three. One, two, three. It was as if the rhythm was marked somewhere under the crust of their consciousness, their heartbeats aligning with its pace. Isshiki, who had been staring at his own clumsy feet at the beginning, finally raised his head and looked at his partner's face. He could swear being now able to see behind Ron's black bangs a pair of light gray eyes, their color as cold as northern waters, but giving off a warmth Toto had never witnessed before. Even though these eyes were covered by tousled hair, the officer couldn't take his gaze off them, completely losing himself in the music and their movements. He felt as if he was drowning in all this and also in the still strange, but not exactly new warmth in his chest that was caused by that sometimes weird, but good-hearted man in front of him.
During all that time, Ron couldn't stop looking at his partner either. He had long dreamed of inviting that unusual little princess to dance, just like that, but the occasion had never been right before and also Isshiki wouldn't have agreed to it, if it weren't for this banquet. And there he had finally gotten his chance, as if destiny itself had decided to favor him for a change. He spun Toto around, perhaps not always according to the rhythm, but maybe it was just his impression, for in reality it was as if they were sliding over the parquet, leaving behind traces out of a variety of flowers, light-colored, blue and silvery ones, but all of them so delicate, as though they were truly alive.
At some point, Toto had started to feel the other's thoughts, no, not even feel, but rather almost read them off his mind, without any hurdles. Maybe that wasn't such a good idea however, since, after that, his face basically turned beet-red, and small and vulnerable butterflies started fluttering in his chest, and perhaps also in his lungs. Isshiki put on a strained smile, placed his head on Ron's shoulder and closed his eyes, abandoning himself completely to that dance, which, by the way, had already started to approach its end.
Someone's outraged voices started to grate on their ears, which made the just recently closed mercury-colored eyes open again and realize that the others were evading and dancing around them, while the two of them were rocking back and forth, not moving from their spot and gradually slowing down. Toto looked with surprise at Ron, whose gaze was still fixated on him, as if to ask "Why did we stop?". The answer he got was an enigmatic smile, breath that was burning hot on his ear, an insolent hand moving down, and a pleasant voice whispering "Because I wanted to kiss you" to him. Isshiki blushed again and separated himself from Ron, but not quite, he just removed his and the other's hands, and instead took one of the latter's in order to guide him somewhere else, presumably to where the balcony was. The officer was just too shy to kiss the detective in front of everyone. But here, in that empty place, he could allow himself to even kiss back. Timidly and less skillfully, of course, but still.
Ron found that behavior adorable. He freed his hand from the other's grip, pressed the startled Totomaru against the wall, grabbed his wrist and kissed the officer, first a bit roughly, but then gently and full of desire. Tracing with his tongue the curves of Isshiki's lips and mouth, making the latter basically moan with his actions. Toto was trying to kiss him back with the same genuineness, the same spark, but it came out rather clumsily, which was frustrating. However, just for a second.
And here they were standing, kissing each other on that open balcony and completely forgetting about the banquet, that would soon take a very interesting turn. But that didn't matter anymore. At least, not to them.
