“A Seagull Named Jonathan Livingston” is a philosophical parable by Richard Bach that tells the story of a seagull named Jonathan who strives for perfection in flight. The book is about overcoming limitations, finding inner possibilities, and the importance of individuality.
Jonathan Livingstone is different from other gulls because of his desire to learn and develop, instead of just following herd instinct. He spends long hours in training, mastering new aerobatics and striving for the highest levels of flight. However, such birds are considered outcasts in the flock.
In time, Jonathan reaches the heights of his art and becomes a teacher for other gulls. The book does not contain a direct message, each reader can take something different from it.
I find this work very deep and instructive about human society and its norms and rules. It is about a “man” who does not obey his destiny. I loved this book because of the image of the main character, his thoughts and aspirations.
